Wafflez
05.03.14 | No one really considers it to be the greatest thing ever except for the whole "Born in the wrong
generation" crowd. |
SirDrumsalot
05.03.14 | Needs a little more variety...but overall not a bad list. |
Mort.
05.03.14 | "Born in the whole generation" crowd.

Sputnik wins.
It's alright. |

05.03.14 | Isn't it ironic that Nirvana's drummer is a better guitarist than Kurt Cobain? |

Muisc4Life26
05.03.14 | Dave is not a better guitarist than Kurt, man. |
BIaziken
05.03.14 | @waffelz it's still has an average of 4.1 here. When it's a 3 at best. |

BIaziken
05.03.14 | @music4life26 well IMO Foo Fighters have better riffs than Nirvana. But from a technical standpoint I couldn't say who is the most skilled. |
Riviere
05.03.14 | "Isn't it ironic that Nirvana's drummer is a better guitarist than Kurt Cobain?"
Not really, since dave started on guitar and wrote songs on guitar before and while he played drums. Kurt is still the better songwriter. |
BIaziken
05.03.14 | Meh. I don't see any outstanding songwriting on this album, only song on here that is good and not just average is Come As You Are. |
Froot
05.03.14 | Appetite for Destruction |

05.03.14 | It depends on when you heard the album first too. As someone who listened to Avenged Sevenfold and Hoobastank originally, it blew my 11 year old mind when I found out music like this existed |

[Report this Post] @music4life26 well IMO Foo Fighters have better riffs than Nirvana. But from a technical standpoint I couldn't say who is the most skilled.
Foos are definitely more technically gifted. A lot more melodically conscious on how chords fit together, and they have been known to use weird time signatures (Enough Space is in 6/4, part of Times Like These is in 7/4, etc) |
sapient
05.03.14 | @Green that came a few years later for me, but Dirt was another life changer for sure |
BIaziken
05.03.14 | Times Like These is my favourite Foo Fighters song. |
sapient
05.03.14 | Yeah, it rules pretty hard
I do have days where I like the Foos more, and almost all my friends call me crazy for it. But when you compare the two catalogs, Grohl arguably is more consistent with writing strong, catchy songs |
Froot
05.03.14 | everlong tho |

05.03.14 | It's always my go-to song when I play open mic nights, people always seem to love it.
I've never been able to do a nirvana song at one with the same response |

05.03.14 | this album is hard 3, agreed.
|
BIaziken
05.03.14 | Everlong is an awesome song as well. |
Dunwich
05.03.14 | People who love to underrate Nevermind are overrated. |
IronGiant
05.03.14 | its influence and impact is a 5 but on musical merit alone I'd put it t a 3.6 or so |
zakalwe
05.03.14 | The importance of this band, the impact this had and the influence it still has is highly underrated. |
adr
05.03.14 | "underrated"
jesus.. |
sapient
05.03.14 | If Nirvana didn't come about, bands like Foo Fighters couldn't come about, so yeah the influence and impact makes this more than worthy of a 5 |
IronGiant
05.03.14 | it isn't underrated in the least. If anything, it's overrated actually. Everyone recognizes Nirvana as one of the bands who streamlined 'Grunge' to a more popular audience, which is pretty oxymoronic as Grunge was intended to be music played by unapt kids who played for themselves and no one else |
adr
05.03.14 | who cares for Foo Fighters srsly ? |
BIaziken
05.03.14 | Don't get me wrong I appreciate the influence this album had. But from a musical standpoint it isn't all that impressive. |
sapient
05.03.14 | A lot of people, actually |
zakalwe
05.03.14 | This one is repeated countless times. Nobody set out to be in a 'grunge' band.
The late 80s was metal, pop, hip hop, dance, indie.
The 'rock' that was a generations to find was buried deep in the underground.
From out of nowhere was somebody who was one of us, and was fed up of the bullshit being forced down your throat.
Literally within a few months the musical 'scene' had changed, the foundations had been shaken and the underground became accessible which in turn led to 'the man' selling it to us in a package called 'Grunge'
Nirvana spoke to a generation, they continue to do so.
|
IronGiant
05.03.14 | zakalwe I think you're overstating the band's influence and mixing up the impact Grunge as a genre had with the impact Nirvana as a band had |
Cygnatti
05.03.14 | true story. nirvana is average upon average. |
Riviere
05.03.14 | Kurt seemed pretty content with the label though. In 1990 he referred to Nirvana as "A 3 piece underground alternative grunge-rock band from Seattle Washington." |
ArsMoriendi
05.03.14 | Awful list.
I've heard plenty of stuff from every Foo Fighters album, and the only one that seems even slightly interesting in their debut.
|
Cygnatti
05.03.14 | he's right that nirvana really did shake up pop music as they knew it back in the early 90s. |
Cygnatti
05.03.14 | foo fighters are even more extremely average than nirvana. |
zakalwe
05.03.14 | He was obviously taking the piss Rivi dude. It's what he did. He was sarcastic as fuck.
|
Ryus
05.03.14 | nirvana isn't average, in utero rules |
Riviere
05.03.14 | "He was obviously taking the piss Rivi dude. It's what he did. He was sarcastic as fuck."
Dunno, it seemed like a pretty straightforward interview without his usual sarcastic undertones.

This is maybe slightly overrated though, but only slightly imo. |

05.03.14 | Nirvana is good but the way they're treated like untouchable music gods is ridiculous |
ArsMoriendi
05.03.14 | "Nirvana is good but the way they're treated like untouchable music gods is ridiculous"
Fair opinion. I still think In Utero is a 5 though... |

05.03.14 | sputnik user and no.1 doge meme fan BIaziken chimes in with an opinion |
Snowdog808
05.03.14 | Def Leppard's Hysteria seems more overrated, in addition to anything by One Direction. |
SharkTooth
05.03.14 | I'd have to say that
Tool's Aenima should be on the list, now some of the songs on there are FUCKIN FANTASTIC, but DAMN THERE'S A LOTTA FILLER! |
