| Tips For The N00bz
I've been browsing and checking out music through this site for years. I remember back in about 03 when the review section was just a forum that had a link to it at the bottom of mxtabs. I remember when the top reviewer list was taken down for excessive trolling. I remember when electric city was musicofficial101 and wrote blink 182 and green day reviews. And I remember getting my ass handed to me by eliminator jr. in the the pit. I remember when mynameischan was getting banned every week, but he seems to have gained tenure now. I've had a few different accounts over the years, and submitted a few reviews under each one, but I always loose the account or delete the email address and don't bother with fucking with it. I know all of you guys hate the newbs that come in here with shitty taste, and decide to voice their oh so misinformed opinions. Which would be moderately okay if they didn't tell experienced people to "Suk a chode." It was always this way to an extent, people came to the site, thinking they knew something about music, and were humbled extremely. But it just seems like the influx of douchebags nowadays is rediculous. Sorry about the ramble, heres a list of things that nooberts should try. | 1 | Don't start spouting off your opinions too early.
I see a lot of people who come in here, don't even bother to get a feel for the site, and write a one paragraph review that includes things like tbqh or U. or a really shitty track by track. Dont do that. Browse the site, see how things are done, how reviews are written, and expand your musical taste or be flamed to death. | 2 | Dont review albums that already have a reviews.
If its already been reviewed, the only reasons why you should review it again are: if you have a drastically differing opinion, or you think you could write the review better. in either case, its still best if you wait. because a newb will nine times out of ten NOT be able to write it better, and your differing opinion is probably short sighted. just wait a bit before you start bashing well liked albums, or praising peices of shit. people will like you more. | 3 | Dont make excessive lists.
Seriously. It just pisses people off, and thats what the newbies around here seem to like to do. I remember one day, have the list board was flooded by paynetigers idiotic drivel. i look at it as spamming, have some respect for the other lists and dont post more that 2 per week. and that is a VERY liberal standard. | 4 | Dont call things emo, and if you are going to, certainly dont use the word in a pejorative sense.
Calling something emo is like a white man saying the N word. Its just too complicated and risky. Youre better off to just stick with post-hardcore. | 5 | If eliminator starts to give you shit, just say something good about Daydream Nation.Hell suck you o
Okay, so just as a disclaimer, I know a lot of these are in the rules, but i figured posting them in the lists section, (a regular haunt for noobs) might enable these to be read by the assholes who neglect to read the rules. | |
Ohh

05.05.08 | Actually, I don't have a problem with reviewing albums that already have reviews. It's a good way to get a feel for reviewing before taking on more unknown things.
Like me when I was MusicOfficial101 writing Green Day and blink 182 reviews! | Thor
05.05.08 | This list is pretty emo. | charlesfishowitz
05.05.08 | who cares if elim gives you shit? | NOTINTHEFACE
05.05.08 | Thor obviously didn't read the intro, or he would have an explanation for said offense.
I've been here for quite awhile too, but i'm usually a nonparticipant. You brought back good memories of musicofficial101 and his GD reviews, lawlz.... but yeah, although the people on this site can be jerks sometimes, they usually know what they're talking about, and I owe this site for a LOT of my music taste today. *salutes Sputnik* | Ohh
05.05.08 | funny, i didnt find anything particularily emotionally cathardic when reading or writing this review, thor. | Ohh
05.05.08 | well, there goes my cred. i just called this a review instead of a list. | Crysis
05.05.08 | We have our fair share of douchebags here, I'll agree on that one. | Electric City
05.05.08 | "The guitar riff is one that makes u say, ok how many ways can they mix this chord triangle together? Billie made this song really generic."

05.06.08 | I actually did read the intro to the list...I just don't care. | Pebster49
05.06.08 | wow this list has way too many words...I'm getting a headache | jrowa001
