First List: 2014 Warped Tour Bands Review
Went to Warped Tour this year for the first time and saw 20 bands for
varying lengths of time. The list is in order of when I saw them perform that
day. |
1 | Chelsea Grin
These guys were actually better live somehow. Jason Richardson was insane on
guitar but the main vox were weak and disappointing. 8/10 |
2 | Protomen
I only listened to them because they were playing near some shade. I had never
heard of them and won't listen to them again. 2/10 |
3 | Air Dubai
These guys were on right after Protomen and I had not listened to them before
either. I was pleasantly surprised and I'll probably look them up. 6/10 |
4 | Every Time I Die
I only listened to them because they were on before Crown The Empire and they
were decent, if not generic metalcore. 4/10 |
5 | Crown The Empire
The put on a hell of a show. Andy Leo sang the National Anthem before the band
even came out on stage which got the crowd riled up, in a good way. Easily the
best performance of the day. 9/10 |
6 | Lionize
Again, a band I had never heard of was playing in the amphitheater under the
shade. I don't even remember what genre they played. 1/10 |
7 | The Maine
I had heard of them but had never listened to them. They were ok. 4/10 |
8 | Four Years Strong
The singer looked like my english teacher from high school. Turned out not to be
him. 3/10 |
9 | Beartooth
Wasn't crabby enough. 2/10 |
10 | Enter Shikari
I actually like these guys but they played terrible songs, only one from their debut
album and the rest of the songs required barely any playing, just pre-recorded
garbage. They also made fun of NC. 2/10 |
11 | Anberlin
I had heard of them but had never listened to their music. I felt like I needed to see
them since the band won't be around after this year. Pretty good. 5/10 |
12 | Secrets
Good band. Sh*tty acoustics in the amphitheater for metalcore. Mic broke halfway
through. 4/10 |
13 | The Word Alive
I love this band. Well, I loved Deceiver and Empire. Life Cycles was decent and
REAL was horrible. They mostly played songs from REAL so the performance
suffered. Telle's vocals are getting worse and worse. 2012 saved the set. 4/10 |
14 | This Wild Life
Indie hipster garbage that's signed to Epitaph for some reason. 1/10 |
15 | Yellowcard
Live shows do not need a band member on violin. 2/10 |
16 | For All Those Sleeping
Generic but catchy band. The clean vox is somehow higher live. The screamer said
f*ck way too many times to the point where it was laughable. "We have been For
All Those F*cking Sleeping!!11" 3/10 |
17 | Attila
Amazing show regardless of how I feel about deathcore and "partycore." Fronzilla
made the crowd go insane. Hell of a show. 8/10 |
18 | Fit For A King
Passable metalcore but nothing special. The drummer hit a kid in the face with a
drum stick at the end so that's a +2. 6/10 |
19 | A Skylit Drive
The vocals were horrible. Jag sounds pretty good on the albums but his voice was
too quiet and the guitars were too loud. They also only played their new album,
which is their worst. 3/10 |
20 | Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!
Last show of the night and it was quite good. They covered "All Star" by
Smashmouth which was just gravy. 8/10 |
