| Hard Times
So tonight's been rough. I feel like a total pansy even saying that... because I'm only affected indirectly. Basically there's a girl in my life who's awesome (she thinks Wovenhand rules too, which is super rad). Anyway, things've been great. So, being old-fashioned like I am, I wanted to talk to her father. We live about 40 minutes apart. On the drive out to see me tonight he got in a horrible car wreck- flipped three times. Fortunately, somehow, he walked away with only ripped ligaments and sever lacerations (which I say "only" because it's amazing he even survived that crash at all, from the sounds of it). So basically, I feel like somehow it's my fault. Like if I hadn't wanted to meet with him tonight he would've been fine. Mostly though, I just feel terrible. My girl's all shaken up and super upset, understandably, and the family was going to get a home inspection in order to get approved for adoption tomorrow, but now they can't because he's so badly injured that obviously all their plans are skewed. It's all just so sad. Sorry to rant, I know it's a music place here. But man, I just needed to write it out to get it off my chest. It's gonna be a late night. | | 1 |  | Stars of the Lid

07.31.14 | My parents were in kind of a similar accident a few years ago. Slipped on some black ice and flipped over a guard rail. The car flipped over 5 times and they both walked away without a scratch. Police/paramedics showed up and were amazed that they were alive, let alone no injuries at all. 07.31.14 | That's so bloody awesome, Hawks. What a narrow escape, that could've been way worse. Unfortunately he wasn't as lucky. He has some pretty sever lacerations and the ligaments in his shoulder (from what I understand, I'm only hearing through the girl I'm with) are all torn up, so that'll be a long road to recovery there. Fortunately though, everything else is okay- no brain damage, injured organs, or broken bones. | Hawks

But does that make it your fault? No, absolutely not. There's so many circumstantial factors in a human's life that lead him to where he/she stands. Fact is, you did nothing that contributed to the accident. You only got him out of his house. All what happened since are events that were susceptible to other circumstances.

08.01.14 | Thanks guys. Glad I can rant here and get some support. I went to visit her and her family tonight. Her dad was doing well other than having his arm in a sling. It's pretty amazing he wasn't killed in the accident to be honest. So that's definitely a huge break. Things are looking up, fortunately. Last night was just rough lol. | lyzakthellama
