08.11.14 | needs more AFFOC. I mean, a top 10 list without Gandhi?! |
wwba
08.11.14 | idk that song doesn't really appeal to me, their old style is so much closer to my taste |
ChoccyPhilly
08.11.14 | Fair enough. I don't think I'd personally agree with anything on this list but props for Tribalism. Great song.
No zzzonked either...? |
wwba
08.11.14 | yeah Tribalism has a nice chorus, if the ending hasn't been so uninspired and boring it would be
higher...____________
___________
zzzonked has a nice beat but it's musically pointless aside from the final riff
____________________________________________
also how can you not like the synthetic breakdown in Step Up? |
ChoccyPhilly
08.11.14 | I find Rou's "rapping" on Tribalism pretty sweet and I like how he randomly transitions in singing every now and then. zzzonked is great, it's just pure madness but I suppose I'm more into the tracks like that.
nah, I don't like Chris and I just don't like the melodies at all. Favourite tracks from CD are Antwerpen, zzzonked, Jester, both Havoc's and Solidarity |
wwba
08.11.14 | haha I only like Rou when he sings (or screams), his semi-rapped verses annoy the **** out of me |
ChoccyPhilly
08.11.14 | Depends how he uses it. The little talked/rap section in Antwerpen is brilliant but you clearly prefer the more melodic
tracks |
ChoccyPhilly
08.11.14 | Also, what's all _______ this about? |
wwba
08.11.14 | sput sometimes leaves out the spacings and I hate when the different parts of what I want to say
aren't separated so I'm careful lol |
Mort.
08.11.14 | morts here
i really couldnt rank them tbh. too much choice for me. tho thumper would be on there. and probably most of these songs. the only tracks i really just like a lot (instead of love) are destabilise and quelle surprise. but i still love those tracks in a different way
too hard |
ChoccyPhilly
08.11.14 | *stretches out limbs and jumps around. Stares at his sweaty face in the mirror and looks hard into the eyes of the figure in the mirror*
"Top 5. let's do this, bitch"
Stand Your Ground; This is Ancient land + Enter Shikari
Radiate
Zzzonked
Gandhi
System + Meltdown
That doesn't seem quite right. It's actually really hard to choose and it probably changes frequently but you know. That's one off the top of my head |

ChoccyPhilly
08.11.14 | lol that edit detroyed that comment, mort |
Mort.
08.11.14 | GODDAMIT IM SURE I LEFT A SONG OUT BUT I DONT KNOW WHAT ONE |
Mort.
08.11.14 | hahah yeah i know. i realised kickin back wasnt on it.
im sure ive left something else out aswell |
wwba
08.11.14 | Enter Shikari is by far the best song on your list to me, linear song structure, heavy breakdowns, decents screaming, well-written lyrics and the synth pattern is pretty atmospheric and unique |
Mort.
08.11.14 | dude it was the stand your ground/enter shikari combo + the zone mothership version that got me into them
that slow synth track and then
SHIT
(SCREAMING) |
ChoccyPhilly
08.11.14 | Well written lyrics!?!
"and still we will be here, standing like statues". I know it's their classic line, but i wouldn't call it great or anything.
I don't personally think the linear song structure is a strength and I prefer it when theyre a bit more unpredictable. |
wwba
08.11.14 | not to mention the way they thrown the breakdown under the programmed synth pattern was pretty
innovative and even after more than a half decade some bands are doing it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efa8q4DDppw
________________________________by linear I meant there's no chorus / verse |
Mort.
08.11.14 | it fucks me off they never got the credit for the whole electronicore scene
yeah i think there were other bands starting to do it at the same time but they did it in such a different way and were pretty unique. even if you dont like them, you gotta give them some credit
|
ChoccyPhilly
08.11.14 | Ahh ok. I dont get the big fuss out of breakdowns. A couple really get me hyped, like the one in System and gandhi, but the rest are just alright and other bits of the song are better.
ES also try bringing a wider range of electronica into the post-hardcore sound, which is more than what can be said about the other "electronicore" bands |
