| Coheed And Cambria Albums: Yet Another Ranking
As a self-confessed 'bit of a Coheed fanboy', I'm pretty sure I have at some
stage declared that every one of their albums is the best one yet (normally
a week after getting them). It's been a good 6 months since I completed
my collection so the dust has had time to settle, and I think I can treat
them a bit more objectively. Here goes... | 7 | | Coheed and Cambria The Afterman: Descension
Starts off fantastically, but from Away We Go onwards just becomes mired in fairly
uninteresting 4/4 rock/acoustic numbers. That being said, Gravity's is one of
their best tracks to date.
Best tracks: Key Entity Extraction V: Sentry the Defiant, Number City, Gravity's
Union | 6 | | Coheed and Cambria Year of the Black Rainbow
I initially enjoyed this album a lot, although it's probably their least cheerful, in tone
or in lyrics. Quite a few songs sound... similar, though there are definitely some
standout tracks. Not a bad album by any stretch, but not their greatest. The closer
is fantastic (even if I do personally have a slightly emotional association with it).
Best tracks: Here We Are Juggernaut, Made Out of Nothing (All That I Am), The
Black Rainbow | 5 | | Coheed and Cambria The Afterman: Ascension
The more consistent of the Afterman albums, as well as having their best opener
track (The Hollow is gloriously creepy) - although it dips a bit in the middle, there
are some very neat songs on here - lacking some of the energy of the previous
albums recently, but the production sounded different to me on the two Afterman
albums so maybe that had something to do with it.
Best tracks: The Hollow, Key Entity Extraction III: Vic the Butcher, Key Entity
Extraction IV: Evagria the Faithful | 4 | | Coheed and Cambria From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness
My first album of theirs (bought on a whim after hearing Welcome Home on the
radio), I suppose I have a lot of time for this album. Some of the songs are a bit...
bland, maybe? The Willing Well quartet at the end is magnificent though,
culminating in one of the greatest solos ever to grace my ears.
Best tracks: The Lying Lies and Dirty Secrets of Miss Erica Court, The Willing Well
Tracks | 3 | | Coheed and Cambria The Second Stage Turbine Blade
Their first one, and although the production and occasionally Claudio's vocals show
it a bit, generally very good. Has some of their greatest songs on it, but also in my
opinion some of their weakest (see Hearshot Kid Disaster). Bass work in particular is
bloody amazing.
Best tracks: Everything Evil, Delirium Trigger, Neverender | 2 | | Coheed and Cambria No World for Tomorrow
A close second to me, this seems a fitting closer to the Amory Wars story. Some
really interesting songs on this one - a slight blip on Justice in Murder, but picking
itself up excellently for The End Complete.
Best tracks: The Hound (Of Blood and Rank), Gravemakers and Gunslingers, Mother
Superior | 1 | | Coheed and Cambria In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3
A true masterpiece from start to finish, nearly everything on this album is fantastic.
It's kinda sad to think we'll probably not get another C&C album like this, but I live
in hope.
Best tracks: In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth:3, The Crowing, The Light and the
