| Really Really Good Albums
Here are some of my favorite albums ever, in no particular order. Looking for recs, preferably based off of experience. | 1 | | Phoenix Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
some of the most solid pop I've ever heard, great mix of hooks/variety/emotion | 2 | | Daft Punk Discovery
prob. my favorite album, period, huge fan of sampling, house, funk. love the mood/the flow. unfortunately I've never been able to find anything like this. | 3 | | Rustie Glass Swords
kind of sloppy but otherwise fantastic, love the "future beat/wonky" (or whatever it's called) style. I really like how much variety it has. particularly good: "Flash Back," "Surph," "Ultra Thizz" (Ultra Thizz is probably my fav) | 4 | | Jon Hopkins Immunity
not the biggest fan of the first half (although I can dig "Open Eye Signal") but I love the emotion of the second half. I really like "Immunity" especially. not really sure which album by him to explore next. | 5 | | Bon Iver Bon Iver
the emotions/build-ups are incredible. makes life feel, ironically, "magnificent." | 6 | | James Blake James Blake
on the opposite end of stuff like Rustie and Hudson Mohawke I also like stuff like this that's really minimal. love the emotion he shows, not as much the often headache-inducing dubstep throbs. | 7 | | TNGHT TNGHT
weirdly even though this has Hudson Mohawke it's fairly minimal as well, with only a few key elements to each track, which I think makes it way better. love the breakdowns. | 8 | | Animal Collective Merriweather Post Pavilion
love the build-ups, the "trippiness" (not that I know anything about psychedelia, but I do love unexpected/weird changes in music), the hooks. for lack of a better musical vocab this just has really good vibes. | 9 | | The Avalanches Since I Left You
I like the beats/sense of humor and the sampling is absolutely incredible/seamless, but it could use a bit more of a cohesive emotional idea. very good though | 10 | | Lemaitre The Friendly Sound EP
recently got back into them. love the mood/the synths. I especially like the sound of "Blue Shift" (kind of feels like a better "Eple" to me) | |

12.09.14 | "not the biggest fan of the first half (although I can dig "Open Eye Signal") but I love the emotion of the second half. I really like "Immunity" especially. not really sure which album by him to explore next."
but the opener is like the best song on the album | RonnieRadke
12.09.14 | don't listen to foster the people they blow[2] | granitenotebook
12.09.14 | I'll check Diamond Mine, thanks. and I guess I could give Supermodel a shot, I thought their debut was decent purely as a collection of singles.
"but the opener is like the best song on the album"
I get where you're coming from but the other stuff just connects with me so much more emotionally that it's not even a contest, even if its not as musically varied/technically impressive | IronGiant
12.09.14 | 9s "cohesive emotional idea" is perpetual fun. read my review if you want/need a better understanding | Clumseee
12.09.14 | There Will Be Fireworks - The Dark, Dark Bright |
