| Dips in form.
Albums that were a disappointment and cost the bands a chunk of their fan base....for a while anyway. | 1 | | Metallica Load
Too long, too safe. Barely considered a metal album. It's no surprise this era is completely downplayed by the band. | 2 | | Guns N' Roses Chinese Democracy
It took 17 years to arrive, only went platinum due to prices being slashed just to shift all the copies. Today’s Guns N’ Roses are nothing more than a competent cover band. | 3 | | Slayer Diabolus in Musica
Tried to hard to fit in with current trends at the time..and failed. That is all I am saying. | 4 | | Megadeth Risk
Megadeth notably recorded a more radio-friendly sound with Risk, losing its edge, which was dulled down to a butter knife. | 5 | | Machine Head Supercharger
They went completely nu metal with 1999’s The Burning Red. 2001’s Supercharger, though, saw Machine Head try even harder to win over mainstream metal during a time when rap metal was already on the way out. The album proved to be such a disaster that Roadrunner Records even dropped the band for a short time (only to resign them not too long after). | |
Riviere
04.15.15 | 1 isn't a metal album and shouldn't be looked at as such. A few stinkers but otherwise a bunch of solid rock songs. |
