05.26.15 | I'm probably one of the few people that's anticipating Currents to suck. I really enjoy Let It Happen, but I think all the other tracks released have been really average. I'm hoping Kay Kay can prove me wrong, but I'm not anticipating much. |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
05.26.15 | they sound more like the beatles to me but |
chinesewhispers
05.26.15 | Dude this is way too vague so no way, and besides, so many bands have followed the same career format
1. Shitty/average debut
2. Album that's pretty much a good version of their debut
3. Where experimentation starts setting in and they actually turn pretty cool
4. They decide to take a left turn and/or go full on arty/abstract |
idontcareaboutthis
05.26.15 | is this list to imply radiohead is spectacularly unique and has little similarity with other bands |
ArsMoriendi
05.26.15 | I've only heard Innerspeaker is wow is it nothing like The Bends. Innerspeaker is like if John Lennon wrote a song that was far more psychedelic than anything he had done before and made 12 really draggy variations of it and called it an album. |
wtferrothorn
05.26.15 | I think he's more comparing their career arcs. But lennon's kid did once say he mistook Parker voice for John's once. lol |
ArsMoriendi
05.26.15 | He said they were equal in quality though, which I'd disagree with. |
idontcareaboutthis
05.26.15 | he could mean musical quality in the context of how it sounds |
wtferrothorn
05.26.15 | Yeah, Radiohead > Tame Impala. |
ArsMoriendi
05.26.15 | "he could mean musical quality in the context of how it sounds"
Like audio quality? That's obviously not what he's talking about here. That wouldn't even make sense for what the list is trying to compare. |
chinesewhispers
05.26.15 | Wooo Tame Impala kinda sucks |
idontcareaboutthis
05.26.15 | "Like audio quality? That's obviously not what he's talking about here. That wouldn't even make sense for what the list is trying to compare."
no. musical quality by the fact that both albums are "spacey and guitar driven and melodic". i can't confirm though considering i've never listened to tame impala
|
ArsMoriendi
05.26.15 | I mean they are both like that, but that's an incredibly vague description, so vague that it also describes Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon... and OK Computer. |
idontcareaboutthis
05.26.15 | except that dark side is way more spacey
ha get it |
StallionMang
05.26.15 | can we stop comparing every artist to radiohead like damn |
idontcareaboutthis
05.26.15 | evidently not |
ArsMoriendi
05.26.15 | But so many artists are like Radiohead, like Lil Wayne for instance. He played guitar on one of his albums, Radiohead uses guitar. I mean damn what a copycat! |
idontcareaboutthis
05.26.15 | i would assume there is more similarity in this particular case than either you or deadcrown are properly giving credit, or else it'd be ridiculous to mention it. or maybe he just ridiculously mentioned it |
Slut
05.26.15 | Lonerism=kid a cause of synth use??? What?????? |
IronGiant
05.26.15 | Tame Impala are pretty average |
deadcrown

yeah i guess i see the point you make there.. history repeats itself. |
Royl123
05.26.15 | Thrice did the same thing too... |
ChoccyPhilly
05.26.15 | tame impala are nothing special but if you wanted similarities, i'd go with the beatles |
guitarded_chuck
05.26.15 | replace = with > |
JamieTwort
05.26.15 | Tame Impala are great. The don't do anything new or ground breaking but what they do do they do better than most of their contemporaries and they have a knack for writing great songs (which is all that really matters).
Would never compare them to Radiohead but I see what you're going for with this list. |
MO
05.26.15 | gave these guys a shit not too long ago. pretty crazy how much the singing sounds like Lennon |
nickswandotcom
05.27.15 | Well they don't sound alike at all and Radiohead is alot better
Plus you think "Creep" is the best song on Pablo so I couldn't possibly disagree with you more... |
ArsMoriendi
05.27.15 | Best song on Pablo is probably "I Can't." The only song on there that's good enough to be on The Bends, "You" comes close though. |
theBoneyKing
05.31.15 | Currents seems like it will be a bit of a left turn relative to what Tame Impala has done before, but Kid A was a turn into a dimension that no one else had previously explored. |
