| Learning To Play Guitar
So I bought a Fender Stratocaster, and want to learn how to play. I'm starting from square one. What are the best online guitar lessons available? Any other tips or recommendations would be highly appreciated! | 1 | | Red Hot Chili Peppers Californication | 2 | | Weezer Weezer | |

08.16.15 | teach yourself basic chords, ie G, A, A minor, C, E, E minor, D. Practice switching
between them to a beat of some sort so you can get used
to switching fluently. Bearing in mind this is advice coming from a drummer
who has taught himself some guitar

08.16.15 | Get lessons from a teacher at first, that stops you from learning bad habits that will get really difficult to break later on, since this way you have someone to show you how to do things and watch you do them. When you get a decent enough grasp on it, you'll be able to learn some stuff on your own with what you know. | TheSonomaDude

08.16.15 | Get lessons from a teacher at first [3] so hard. Even if it's just for a few weeks, it's invaluable down the track. I played for like 6 months on my own, and when I finally got a few lessons, I had so many problems with my technique that were really hard to fix. It doesn't have to be for long, it's just invaluable to have someone who can slap you on the wrist whenever you're doing something you shouldn't. | BandNewbac
08.16.15 | i'm self taught and managed to finish my grade 8 recently so dont worry, it can be done. to be honest the best thing you can do to start with isn't to learn notes or chords from the get go. learn to position your hands in a comfortable way and get the strength up in your fingers before you even try with big bar chords or anything like that. | danielcardoso
08.16.15 | Patience is the key to learn and become better at any instrument. Work your way up slowly, learn some basic chords and pick out some of your favorite songs to play along and get comfortable playing simple chord progressions. Bar chords can be tough at first, but if you try to play the F chord a bit every day eventually you'll get used to it. Everybody Hurts is a nice famous song to practice some basic fingerpicking, it ain't no Horizons but it's a great starting point. | AlexKzillion
08.16.15 | If you don't like trying to learn songs from ear, songsterr is the best tab site | thumbcrusher
08.16.15 | When I was starting to learn I used a site called cyber fret that had some good and well structured leassons | danielcardoso
08.16.15 | Songsterr is great to learn a lot of songs, yeah. | Bromero
