Delicious
digs are delicious. Life is good when you always got music. Here's some stuff I've been havin fun with lately. |
1 | | Emma Ruth Rundle Some Heavy Ocean
Gorgeousness. |
2 | | Yellow Swans Going Places
Beautiful hazy noise with perfectly orchestrated glimmers of edge and excitement |
3 | | John Wiese Soft Punk
Meticulous ADD noise that's just as entertaining as it is twisted and jarring |
4 | | Haiku d'Etat Coup De Theatre
Hella underrated hip-hop. Seriously, I think one more listen to this at the right moment could make it a 5. thanks Potsy |
5 | | The National The National
So I'm finally listening to the earlier stuff from my favorite band. And, uh... "Son" is pretty great, but the rest is is really, really eh. Cool to hear where the "29 years" thing came from, though. |
6 | | The National Cherry Tree
This EP is fantastic, though. Wasp Nest and Cherry Tree especially. |
7 | | The National The Virginia EP
Blank Slate, Santa Clara, and You've Done it Again Virginia are all the shit, though there's nothing bad on here. Except for maybe the early version of Slow Show, which somehow turned out to be one of the best songs on Boxer. |
8 | | Merzbow Minazo Vol. 1
Definitely the best Merzbow I've heard so far. Voices from the Sea is fucking otherworldly. |
9 | | Werewolf Jerusalem Music for Mass Radio
This stuff is suffocating. And claustrophobic. And yet really, really stretched out and expansive. Great stuff. |
10 | | The Knife Shaking the Habitual
How could you think this is not amazing. Found the CD still wrapped at Half Price Books for 6 bucks :D |
11 | | Wolf Eyes Burned Mind
This is pretty meh. There's good ideas but they don't get expanded upon enough |
12 | | Wolf Eyes Human Animal
This is a lot better. Especially Rationed Rot. |
13 | | Sundowner Four One Five Two
Didn't like this nearly as much as I expected to. Pretty homogeneous |
14 | | I Am A Lake Of Burning Orchids Innocence
Beauty |
15 | | Jason Lescalleet The Pilgrim
lol wtf is this |
16 | | The Low End Theory The Low End Theory
Had to put this in the database. Pretty underrated indie emo |
17 | | Matt Elliott Failing Songs
I can definitely see why people would like this, but it's a little anticlimactic for me |
18 | | Handsome Boy Modeling School So ... How's Your Girl?
A fucking amazing hip-hop celebration. Holy Calamity was on THUG 2, and when it came on when I was listening to the album I was just like... HOLY SHIT I've heard this song a million times, but now that I'm listening to it in its proper context I can actually hear how amazing it is! haha love it when that happens |
19 | | Eric Copeland Hermaphrodite
This is really cool. Don't really know what to call it. It's not noise, but it's definitely somewhere outside the "electronic" realm. Check out Oreo |
20 | | Daughter If You Leave
A little samey after a while, but some really, really beautiful moments too. Probably the queen of my 3.5s |
21 | | The Black Heart Procession 1
Some nice, dark, subtly theatrical indie stuff. I can see how some might find it a little dull or saccharine tho |
22 | | Incubus Morning View
iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii wish you were here!!! |
23 | | Edie Brickell Shooting Rubberbands At The Stars
Put "Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians" in the database only to find that this was already here, tho I thought i already checked like a week before i made mine. derp. anyway, this album is a 5 and i'm prolly gonna review it |
24 | | Choke Slow Fade Or: How I Learned To Question Infinity
These guys can riff like nobody's business, but the vocalist has seriously one of the only voices I've ever heard that I can NOT get past. It's so nasally that it actually affects his tone, and sometimes it sounds like he's not even singing to the beat of the song. Like he's just vomiting all over everything. Ugh. It's a real shame. But yeah, this is their best imo. It's got the most texture and the vox are least annoying |
25 | | Shook Ones Facetious Folly Feat
Engaging, totally harmless hardcore |
26 | | The Thermals The Body, The Blood, The Machine
one of the best albums ever |
27 | | Green Day Kerplunk
eh |
28 | | Green Day Insomniac
eh |
29 | | Green Day Nimrod
now this album i can get down with. Nice Guys Finish Last, The Grouch, Redundant, Platypus, Walking Alone... mm. Tasty. Better than Dookie. |
30 | | Vola Inmazes
Prolly the only album from 2015 on this list hahaha. Really good shit, though. Thick groovy metal with a lot of tasteful electronics and really cool vocals |
31 | | Gorguts Obscura
One of the best albums ever [2] |
32 | | Algernon Cadwallader Some Kind Of Cadwallader
pretty cool |
33 | | Hightide Hotel Porch Luck
One of the must substantial releases I've heard from this style of emo |
34 | | Jandek Ready for the House
ummmm okay? may possibly review this |
35 | | Snowing Fuck Your Emotional Bullshit
yeah yeah it's fun |
36 | | Their / They're / There Their / They're / There
THIS is fucking awesome. feel like this should have a 4 average at least. when are these guys gonna do a full-length??? |
37 | | My Heart To Joy Seasons In Verse
I found this to be pretty substantial too. Especially that Guided by Voices cover, that was a really pleasant surprise |
38 | | The God Machine Scenes from the Second Storey
Some great overlooked metal. Some of the riffs are a little simplistic but they make up for it by getting locked in these really great atmospheric passages |
39 | | Dads American Radass (This Is Important)
some really awesome parts but a lot of eh too. prolly gonna quit with this niche for a while haha |
40 | | Drunkdriver Drunkdriver
yeah, it's vicious |
41 | | Number Girl NUM-HEAVYMETALLIC
LISTEN TO THIS. I don't even know how to explain it, it's like... atmospheric post-math rock? or something? it's Japanese, so you know it's awesome. it's got heavy-ass jam sessions and beautiful calmness. it's wonderful. |
42 | | The Shadow Ring Hold onto I.D.
LISTEN TO THIS TOO. Nightmarish spoken-word laid over industrial, almost tribal-sounding beats with really sharp electro sounds giving things even more of an outlandish atmosphere. probably one of the ballsiest and most frighteningly unique albums i've ever heard |
43 | | Melt-Banana Scratch or Stitch
found this CD at a thrift store. picked it up cuz what are the odds of that? music's alright but the vocals are LOL |
44 | | Sissy Spacek Sissy Spacek
this album needs to stfu |
45 | | The Gerogerigegege Tokyo Anal Dynamite
never expected to feel this way about an album like this, but... it's alright? |
46 | | K2 Metal Dysplasia
It's a little meaty for what it is, but also pretty entertaining. Harsh clangy noise rooted in industrial. Not really one of my strong suits yet but I like what I'm hearing |
47 | | Lasse Marhaug The Shape Of Rock To Come
I found this amazing. Sleeper and All In Good Spirits especially. Some of the most creative sound-shifting i've heard in a while |
48 | | Neoandertals Ebu Gogo Gutting The Child
death metal with no guitars, just basses. and you know, it works surprisingly well. |
49 | | Ted Leo And The Pharmacists Shake The Sheets
pretty hard to not find this delightful |
50 | | The Chinkees The Chinkees Are Coming
overlooked ska-punk. very fun stuff |
51 | | The Angels of Light How I Loved You
folk/folk-rock/whatever that gets its power from simple repetition and texture rather than from finding unique structures every time. singer's got a great, unique voice as well. you will find yourself engrossed. tho some may get bored. |
