10.31.15 | I don't think I could ever decide but I think I would say 2010-2015 or 2005-2010 really... sorry to disappoint, but I think music is pretty fucking awesome at the moment, even though there are a lot of good music from the 90's and earlier as well. 2000-2005 was somewhat shit though with a few apparent exceptions. |
LotusFlower
10.31.15 | 1993-1998 is amazing and I am fond of 2012-2015 |

adr
10.31.15 | really hard, but 70-75 and 91-96 were pretty insane |
LotusFlower
10.31.15 | Te only decade Id call dull dad rock is the 80s tbh |
Avagantamos
10.31.15 | 80s = my least favorite decade |
MrSirLordGentleman
10.31.15 | The 80's had some awesome albums and its commercial side was "decent fun" but I think we all agree it was the worst decade of the last 60 years |
NeroCorleone80
10.31.15 | 88-93 maybe |
Artuma
10.31.15 | 91-96 [2] or 98-02 |
Artuma
10.31.15 | also 80s was indeed pretty bad overall but the latter half of it generated a lot of killer music |
KingdomOfTyrant
10.31.15 | 80s = my least favorite decade (2) |

10.31.15 | yea that's when swans made filth |
AlexKzillion
10.31.15 | I mean late 80's had some great hip hop like Paul's Boutique, but idk nothing that really jumps out to me from the 80's. |
romulanrancor
10.31.15 | Thats tough, around late 80's early 90's. Maybe 86-91 |
NeroCorleone80
10.31.15 | "I mean late 80's had some great hip hop like Paul's Boutique, but idk nothing that really jumps out to me from the 80's"

AlexKzillion
10.31.15 | Yeah I wouldn't know where to start with punk |

probably either 86-94 or 96-01
|
SwanSoup
10.31.15 | I also think that the 80s is probably the worst decade for music. I also dislike the 50s, despite enjoying a lot from before that, and after that as well. I realize it's importance for all the music that I enjoy today, but I just hate rock 'n' roll. |
DoofusWainwright
10.31.15 | Easily 1993-1998 for me
Peak of Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Portishead, Elliott Smith, Fugazi, Pavement, Tindersticks, Mercury Rev, Wu Tang, Therapy?, Aphex Twin, Manic Street Preachers, Stone Temple Pilots, Beck, The Prodigy
You also have the tail end of Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Faith No More and the emergence of Mogwai, Boards of Canada, Eels, QOTSA, Modest Mouse, Sparklehorse
Great one off albums like Jeff Buckley Grace, Tool Aenima, NIN Downward Spiral, Kyuss Sky Valley, Tricky Maxinquaye, Air Moon Safari, Massive Attack Mezzanine, Screaming Trees Dust and DJ Shadow Endtroducing too |
MrSirLordGentleman
10.31.15 | yeah the 50's are pretty bland but most of the people start to count these lists from the 60's so |
PortraitsOfDecay
10.31.15 | I gotta say 2000 - 2006 since it has like most of my 5's

City of Caterpillar
Everything Goes Numb
As the Roots Undo

10.31.15 | This is an impossible task.
It would be better if you discussed movements rather than years. |
DustyTill
10.31.15 | 1966-1970 |
DoofusWainwright
10.31.15 | I guess another list that for most will equate to 'what years were you aged 14-19?' |
MrSirLordGentleman
10.31.15 | I'm 20 and the best period for me was 67-76 so |
someguest
10.31.15 | Well aren't you wise?
:p |
DoofusWainwright
10.31.15 | MrSir - this says to me you were born of the wrong generation and that makes me sad |

10.31.15 | I wouldn't say he was born in the wrong generation. today we have the technology to enjoy pretty much any music from any time period, which is dope! |
deathschool
10.31.15 | Nice list. Nice concept. I'd have to give it a lot of thought. This span was fucking nice though. For sure. |
DoofusWainwright
10.31.15 | Avag - you can't feel the frisson of excitement that the artist is out there creating at the exact same time of your discovery, you can't go see them live at the time they were writing this music, you can't feel like you are part of something new along with thousands of like minded others, you can't dream 'what will they do next' and anticipate.
It's not the same sitting down on the internet and exploring music from the archives and its why I feel people who don't feel the music that was released in their teen and early 20's years speaks most to them have missed out on something. What they have may be a good thing but its not that special thing. It just isn't and they are unequivocally missing out. But hey, they don't know what they're missing so it' ok, it's just the way it is. |
MrSirLordGentleman
10.31.15 | Yeah it's certainly sad that most of the artists you love are dead, splitted up or sound like shit these days |
DoofusWainwright
10.31.15 | Don't take this so personal but you just described yourself lmfao, look at your 5's.
I love more bands now than ever but your teens are a one off and I'm thankful all the bands I loved most at that time were full of life, fucking, playing live and recording their best music and everyone I knew was listening to the same stuff. |
MrSirLordGentleman
10.31.15 | you saying I'm dead and that I sound like shit? :[ |
Sevengill
10.31.15 | 2015-2019 will be pretty sweet. |

10.31.15 | MrSir - no I wasn't saying that lol
Just that you're a 20 year old whose favourite bands are mostly geriatric |
JamieTwort
11.01.15 | I've honestly found the period between 2010-present to be pretty damn great for me musically. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that I'm living it and discovering artists as they are creating music as opposed to retrospectively.
Historically I would have to go for a period somewhere between the mid 60's and early to mid 70's. |
bloc
11.01.15 | 1989-1993 |
RadicalEd
11.01.15 | 73-79 is a contender for me. But tbh 2010-2015 is (how surprising) up there for me. |
tempest--
11.01.15 | '80s and early to mid '90s had all the best thrash and death metal which is mostly what I listen to so yea
also '80s pop and... well, just the general culture is something I really dig |

11.01.15 | 42,431-42,426 BCE was the peak of Neanderthal throat singing and it's really only been downhill from there. |

11.01.15 | 67-71 |
manosg
11.01.15 | Late '80s to mid '90s was also a great era with all the underground metal and the experimentation. In terms of experimentation and subsequent excitement, I'd say that it's almost up to par with 66-72 for me. Of course, doesn't hurt that I was young and impressionable during that era. |
zakalwe
11.01.15 | 91-98
