We all gotta start somewhere

I can't tell if it's one of those things where you start doing it and suddenly notice a bunch of other people doing it or if it's really been this popular all along. Have def been running into a lot of people with photography gear while I'm out taking pictures. |

12.10.15 | It's a pretty sizeable upfront cost (this so called "entry level" camera ran me a good 500$ + another couple hundred for lenses and a flash) but the equipment can last years so at least there's that. And I'm weird in the way that I can spend hundreds of dollars on small purchases (vinyl/cds, eating out, etc) and barely think about it but when it comes to spending a few hundred in one go I get super hesitant.
Glad I bit the bullet on this one though, I've been really enjoying it for the few months I've been going at it. Also the amount of walking I've been doing has gone up drastically which gives me some much needed physical exercise. |

12.10.15 | Taken some photography classes and such. Developing in a dark room is such a rewarding feeling.
Now everyone on Facebook is a photography douche tho so I dunno. |

12.10.15 | i am. browsing through your instagram page i think your pictures are nice, but nothing really impressive. there are a couple standouts but i think the themes are generally all the same or similar and compositionally they get a little ~tired~ if you will. that said, you are not a bad photographer by any means. |

Was sort of afraid of giving off that impression when I first started. With digital being the new norm I don't know if I'll ever get to experience a dark room but I'd like to some day.

Thanks man, I appreciate the honesty. If you have any tips/tricks I'm all ears. The hardest part so far has been finding people that can give me proper criticism and recommendations on what to work on. I've done a lot of research on my own and learned a lot but it would def help to have someone with a little know-how point me in directions I may not have even thought of. |

12.10.15 | Yeah but working an analogue camera takes a lot more technique where as an expensive digital camera does all the work for you. The creativity doesn't really have to do with the technique anymore just having good ideas and being in good looking surroundings. |

There is technique involved as far as post-processing goes and understanding the various programs involved, what you can accomplish with them, and how.
Can't compare that to analogue as I have no experience in analogue photography (and am still really just scratching the surface as far as digital goes) but I don't think it's fair to say that the digital camera does all the work for you. |

12.10.15 | i think what has helped me the most with photography is trying to capture the subject in every way possible. try to comprehend/interperet your subject as much as you can--before, after, and during the photographing process. in other words--try new things!
photography is much less mechanical than it is mental. after all it is an artform. i've seen too many photographers rely on their equipment more than on themselves. |
