| Warning: Watching from a Distance
Second album in my latest series thing where I check an album I've never heard before for 2-3 days then make a list sharing my thoughts on it. | 1 | | Warning Watching from a Distance
So after listening to Advaitic Songs by Om I was craving something a little heavier and a little doomier so I went with Watching from a Distance by Warning.
This album is incredibly bleak but also quite beautiful, the lyrics are depressing and the vocals are distraught, although somehow hopeful at the same time. Honestly the vocal style reminds me a LOT of Agalloch's clean vocals, most notably on The Mantle. Also there's a really pretty part at the end of the song "Bridges" where the singer is harmonizing along with the guitar riff and it sounds amazing, my favorite part of the album.
My only real complaints about the album are the obvious repetitive nature of the songs and the singing. As far as I know the vocalist never really mixes things up and I'm sure some people could find his voice a tiny bit grating (I think it's lovely).
Overall it's a great listen, I had highs and lows in the last few days and enjoyed the album during both. 4/5 for me. | 2 | | Sweet Trip Velocity : Design : Comfort
This is what I'm checking now. In a couple days you can expect that list. Also keep in mind that these lists aren't meant to be legit reviews or super well thought out, I just thought it would be a fun way for me to find new music. | |

02.29.16 | Right on about the vocal harmonizing part in Bridges. It's an album I only listen to once every other month, but it gets better every time as long as you're not slamming it over a very short period of time. Come back to it after a bit of a break and see how you feel about it.
Really keen for that next one, Sweet Trip are unreal. Make sure you jam the 2009 album too | MotoOnSputnik
02.29.16 | Soundoffs don't start a discussion in the same way this can though. And as I said the whole point of this is to be fun for me, so what's it matter as long as I'm not clogging the lists or something. | Pon

02.29.16 | I feel the same about Warning. Beautiful album, but listening to it in full can be a bit tiring if you're not in the right mood. The vocals are definitely a highlight, although I find the lyrics to be a bit too sentimental at times. Strong 4.2/5 for me. | Hawks
