| Queens of the Stone Age: Songs for the Deaf
Fourth album in series thing. Checking albums I haven't heard before for a few days then giving my thoughts, not meant to be super well-done or refined, just a way to make finding new music fun. | 1 | | Queens of the Stone Age Songs for the Deaf
This time around I went with a genre I'm a little more familiar with. I've been a fan of Kyuss, Sleep, Mastodon, Baroness, and other stoner rock bands for a while, but never ended up checking Queens for whatever reason so I decided to go with them for my next album.
First impressions were that the production was very clean for a stoner rock album, which was a little funny to me since the theme of the album seems to be anti-radio anti-pop etc. and this is some of the cleanest and most accessible music in its genre. Aside from that, the music is great. I was craving something high energy this time and that's what I got here. The songs are generally set up to be catchy, fun, and mostly pretty easy to listen to, besides a couple songs which are noticeably heavier.
I would personally consider this to be a good gateway album to some of the more traditional stoner rock, or maybe something to hit up when you feel like just relaxing and not going too heavy.
Gonna give it a 4/5 | 2 | | Max Richter The Blue Notebooks
This is what I'm checking next, girlfriend chose it for me. | |

03.07.16 | YESSS The Blue Notebooks is my 2nd most listened to album of all time, stoked to see what you think.
Also totally missed the Sweet Trip list, the 4/5 isn't surprising but it's got damn near unlimited replay value, try not to forget about it in your library because it's worth revisiting (just like Warning).
I always found SftD pretty overrated but I also gave it a 4/5 because it's just so damn solid, even if it's not your kind of thing at all. | ComeToDaddy
03.07.16 | If you wanted another something similar after Max Richter, I'd definitely like to see your thoughts on Mono / Worlds End Girlfriend - Palmless Prayer / Mass Murder Refrain | JigglyPDiddy
03.07.16 | Songs for the Death is very awesome, and I have a soft spot for everything by them except Vulgaris, duh. ...Like Clockwork is their best, imo. Followed by Rated R. |
