05.10.16 | Mahler - Symphony n.6
Sibelius - Symphony n.7
Ligeti - Requiem
Mendelssohn - Violin Concerto E Minor | BeneaththeDarkOcean
05.10.16 | The only thing I can recommend you is either metal bands with gothic sensibilities or film scores:
Evanescence - "Whisper" from Fallen (I'm serious here, bridge and last two minutes-fade-out is nothing but this; also check their adaptation of Mozart's "Lacrymosa" on The Open Door)
Nightwish - Endless Forms Most Beautiful (gothic metal to the tee, but the 3CD-special edition features the 3rd disc as nothing but the orchestra and choir instrumentals by themselves)
James Newton Howard featuring Jennifer Lawrence and The Lumineers - "The Hanging Tree" from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 (what a build!)
Red - "Feed the Machine" from Until We Have Faces (nu-metallish like Evanescence, but same type of epic fade-out)
Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice - "Overture" from Jesus Christ Superstar (just the opening instrumental on the original 70's concept album, lots of rockin' funky guitar and grooves too, the choir is the definition of haunting)
Danny Elfman - Edward Scissorhands (the whole soundtrack really)
For classical recs, try Penderecki's Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima if you haven't; the more depressing side of things doesn't begin to cut it. | LotusFlower
05.10.16 | Thomas Feiner - The Opiates (Revised) | Egarran
05.10.16 | Verdi's Requiem has epic choir work.
And if metal is ok, check out Therion's "To Mega Therion". | Greem
05.10.16 | Gabriel Faure - Requiem
J.S.Bach - Matthauspassion, Mass in B minor
Johannes Brahms - Ein deutsches Requiem
Beethoven - Symphony 9
Gustav Mahler - Das Lied von der Erde, Symphony 8
Arvo Part - Te Deum, Arbos, Litany, Miserere, In Principio
Philip Glass - Koyaanisqatsi | Egarran
05.10.16 | Ah yes Koyaanisqatsi. I first encountered it playing Delta on the C64.
