06.01.16 | I wouldn't call a lot of these 'guitar albums' but I love a lot of them. |
parksungjoon
06.01.16 | kyuss - blues for the red sun |
JohnnyoftheWell
06.01.16 | 1, 8, 10 and 13 are more here for their use of guitar rather than because they're defined by them tbh |
JohnnyoftheWell
06.01.16 | @park good shout, should have had Kyuss here tbh (although it would largely be for the same reasons as QOTSA) |
Ocean of Noise
06.01.16 | Sweet list. |
Shemson
06.01.16 | All guitar lists should contain Hatebreeder though so you auto-win there. Some Nevermore would fit in nicely too. |
parksungjoon
06.01.16 | you know what i'd add gojira - the way of all flesh for the way it uses tapping and also some sick trems |
BlackLlama
06.01.16 | Cacophony - Speed Metal Symphony
Friedman and Becker just shred face for 45 minutes. |
Shemson
06.01.16 | Gojira does have some real unique guitar work I was blown away the first time I heard From Mars To Sirius |
PlasticRadioBand
06.01.16 | Metallica - ...And Justice for All
Ulver - Nattens Madrigal
Mayhem - De Mystriis dom Sathanas
Nirvana - Nevermind
Kyuss - Welcome to Riff Valley
kyuss - blues for the red sun [2]

ZippaThaRippa
06.01.16 | Why, had you never heard an open E string before? |
parksungjoon
06.01.16 | nattens madrigal is exquisite but i don't know if it would belong on this list |
Sinternet
06.01.16 | guitars are a cool instrument |
TheSpaceMan
06.01.16 | yay hum |
PlasticRadioBand
06.01.16 | @parks I remember on the album's thread Hawks once said it has "riffs for days" (something to that effect) so I kinda had to lol |
ZippaThaRippa
06.01.16 | Listen to Downward Spiral into Madness by Anata. I've never heard another band do a melody like that. It's quite awesome. |
parksungjoon
06.01.16 | yeah i would recommend actually listening to albums before rec'ing them
i love the shit out of nattens madrigal but it's not meant for this list
anata are dope [2] |
PlasticRadioBand
06.01.16 | I've listened to every rec I recced tho :[ |
TheSpaceMan
06.01.16 | if you like Hum and wouldn't mind a more space rock and heavy emphasis, check out Failure's Fantastic Planet if you haven't already... I'm a huge fan of Hum but its honestly better than anything they've done. Great guitar and bass, better song writing, cooler experimentation and perfect production. The two bands are compared a lot |
ZippaThaRippa
06.01.16 | Shit Anata is kinda tech metal. But it's a cool guitar song plz don't be mad |
parksungjoon
06.01.16 | somewhere between tech and melodeath, doesn't really wank in the same way many of those bands do |
JohnnyoftheWell
06.01.16 | @SpaceMan oooh this sounds highly intriguing - will check it out
@Zippa will investigate ;]
Nevermind and AJFA can go to hell. The former has some cool songwriting but pretty mediocre guitar, the latter is a pile of shit (although Blackened and To Live is to Die do rip it up nicely) |
PlasticRadioBand
06.01.16 | "Nevermind and AJFA can go to hell." Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man |
NLD
06.01.16 | Robbie basho - visions of the country can never be said enough |
BenThatsMyJamin
06.01.16 | Jam necrophagist |
parksungjoon
06.01.16 | "no fucking tech metal recs thanx"
"Jam necrophagist" |
HeckToPay
06.01.16 | boris - heavy rocks |
Snake.
06.01.16 | the earth is not a cold dead place |
Idolatrous
06.01.16 | Ride-Nowhere |
Avagantamos
06.01.16 | rage against the machine |
AlexKzillion
06.01.16 | ^^^ |
Rawmeeth38
06.02.16 | Alice in Chains - Dirt
Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation
Neil Young - Everybody Knows This is Nowhere
Robin Trower - Bridge of Sighs
I love 1 3 7 & 10 |
Oceandrowned
06.02.16 | isis and dissection feels totally out of place here |
parksungjoon
06.02.16 | dissection had some good trems yo
the choice of isis is a little questionable but still rules |
wham49
06.02.16 | Zappa/ shut up and play your guitar and trance-fusion
LArry Coryel/ barefoot boy, or any other of his fantastic albums |
