Albums I picked up for €1
I regularly go to two thrift stores in my neighborhood and I'm always surprised at the albums they got there.
I won't describe every single album, but I will say something about the ones I know really well or the ones I feel like deserve more attention. I decided to make this list, because I always check sputnik for the rating if I don't know the album or the artist. |
1 | | 50 Cent Curtis |
2 | | 50 Cent Get Rich or Die Tryin' |
3 | | Alanis Morissette Jagged Little Pill |
4 | | Alanis Morissette Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie |
5 | | Anouk Hotel New York
Anouk is an artist from the Netherlands and I actually really enjoy her music. Not all her songs are great and her album usually has some filler, but she has a lot of great songs. This album is probably her best with songs like Girl, Lost, One Word and Jerusalem. If you've never heard any of her music and you like pop-rock, she is worth checking out. |
6 | | Anouk Together Alone
This is her debut album. This is more on the rock side than Hotel New York. This also has some great songs like Nobody's Wife, Sacrifice and Mood Indige. However, this album has a little more filler in my opinion. Still the good songs outway the mediocre ones. |
7 | | Anouk Urban Solitude
This is her most "rock" album I own. This definitely has the strongest instrumentals, but I don't always like her vocal delivery here. Still a lot of amazing songs like The Dark (which reminds me of RHCP), Body Brain and R U Kiddin' Me. |
8 | | Anouk Who's Your Momma
This is one of her more polished albums, but that doesn't mean it's bad. This one has her strongest vocal perfomance in comparison to the other albums. This alone makes this release quite enjoyable, but there are some great songs like If I Go, Modern World and Good God. This and Hotel New York are probably my favorites. It's just great pop-rock with power. |
9 | | Before Today A Celebration Of An Ending |
10 | | Billy Idol Billy Idol |
11 | | Billy Joel River Of Dreams |
12 | | Blof Boven |
13 | | Bon Jovi These Days |
14 | | Breaking Pangaea Cannon to a Whisper |
15 | | Bruce Springsteen Greatest Hits (1995) |
16 | | Busta Rhymes Anarchy |
17 | | Call Me Lightning The Trouble We're In |
18 | | Coldplay X & Y |
19 | | Cypress Hill Rise Up
I'm not very experienced with Cypress Hill, but I know the name. When I saw the guest spots from Daron Malakian, Tom Morello and Mike Shinoda I definitely decided to pick this up. My favorites are probably Carry Me Away and Rise Up. |
20 | | Death on Wednesday Buying the Lie
Super underrated album. Somewhat of a mix between Pop-punk and Rock n' Roll, with a great vocalist. Amazing stuff and defintely worth listening. This deserves more than 4 votes. |
21 | | Dire Straits On Every Street |
22 | | downset. Downset |
23 | | Eminem The Marshall Mathers LP |
24 | | Ephel Duath The Painter's Palette
Amazing mix between jazz and metal. I haven't listened to it as much a I want to, but this definitely deserves a listen. Super techincal, experimental and just simply great. |
25 | | Fall Out Boy Take This to Your Grave
One of the better pop-punk albums I own. I start to loves this one more and more with every new song the band releases. This is just a very solid album with lots of energy. Way better than their newer stuff. |
26 | | Fastball All the Pain Money Can Buy |
27 | | From First to Last Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Body Count
Another great album. Energetic music, emotional vocals and solid songs. The lyrics aren't always that good, but if the music is just this good I really don't care that much. |
28 | | Guns N' Roses Appetite for Destruction |
29 | | Guns N' Roses "The Spaghetti Incident?" |
30 | | Guns N' Roses Use Your Illusion I |
31 | | Guns N' Roses Use Your Illusion II |
32 | | Hopesfall The Satellite Years
This is probably one of the best albums I've bought. This is an amazing mix between agressive and quiet. Loud and Soft. I don't usually listen to this kind of music, but this album is encouraging me to seek out more. |
33 | | Ilse DeLange Incredible
Another artist from the Netherlands. This is probably her best album and it's a mix between pop, rock and country. She has a beautiful voice and the songs behind her are pretty great as well. She isn't that well known outside the Netherlands so if you're into this kinda music, please check it out. |
34 | | Ilse DeLange Livin on Love |
35 | | Ilse DeLange World of Hurt |
36 | | Jay-Z The Blueprint |
37 | | Kanye West My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
This is also in the race for best album I bought for 1 euro. This is way to solid and I would've bought this for the full price if I didn't get so lucky. Amazing beats, solid guest spots and an exciting album in general. |
38 | | Forever Is Forgotten The Architecture Is Still Burning
This one wasn't supposed to be down here on the list, but I forgot it earlier. I don't really like this one. This wasn't what I was expecting, but if you're into very aggresive music you should check this out. |
