Glenn Hughes: Glenn has made a dozen of albums outside Deep Purple, where he really shows his talent as musician and singer. His work with Trapeze was tremendous and never got the attention it deserved. He worked with Tony Iommi too on the Seventh Star album in the 80s. A great album that never should have been a Sabbath record! His long solo career and work with Black Country Communion is incredible too! His a very productive musician and only gets better with age. I can't wait for his never solo record that is set to be released in October month! |

Captain Beyond
Rod Evans: Captain Beyond's s/t is the best record on this list and one of the best records ever IMO. Rod never made it big after he got kicked out of Deep Purple. He did two amazing albums with Captain Beyond and then disappeared from the music scene after a lawsuit in the 80s. That's very sad! He was a big influence vocally on Bobby Liebling off Pentagram (My favorite band!). |

Born Again
Ian Gillan: Ian was the best singer in Deep Purple. He never did that great outside Purple IMO. He did Born Again with Iommi, Ward and Butler. Like Seventh Star the album wasn't supposed to be a Sabbath record. A lot of people see this album as the worst album under the Sabbath banner. I disagree (Remember Forbidden!). I love Born Again! The production is crap. The artwork is cheesy like an 80s poster from a low budget version of Rosemary's Baby. Ian Gillan's voice wasn't at its best either but he did some of his evilest screams on it. I just think it's a perfect album for what it is. |

Trouble
David Coverdale: Too overrated in my opinion. He did great on Burn and Stormbringer, although Glenn would have been better as the lone frontman IMO. I have never been a big fan of Whitesnake too. I just can't get into it! |
