some digs
been finding a lot of really good music from the past 2 or 3 months so might as well make a list i guess |
1 | | the dead c dr503
weird album, but really great. wanted to do a review for it ever since i found it but too lazy i guess. anyways the word the describes the overall "feel" of this lp the best is "steril". really blank and kinda emotionless, but the music itself is very diverse. "i love this" has like this punk edge, "mutterline" has a creepy drone-y industrial-ish vibe, "3 years" is like a depressing, 'the end is near' sonic youth vibe. overall really compelling album. |
2 | | reversal of man this is medicine
good screamo influenced grindcore, or vice versa, whatever. the vocals remind me of today is the day a bit, really gritty like the dude just drank a bunch of mountain dew before the recording session. |
3 | | area 51 discography
for a while i was sorta obsessed with really short punk stuff including this and death wish kids. would jam this on repeat while working in class. |
4 | | funeral diner difference of potential
very "poppy" in a good way. finally got around to checking these guys out after being obsessed with portrait of past for god knows how long. overall i'd say this album has this weirdly optimistic vibe to it, which is nice to see in early 2000's screamo stuff. |
5 | | usurp synapse disinformation fix
been jamming these guys well over a year now but only recently have they really clicked with me. like before i just thought all their songs sounded the same but ever since i started to really dig in short punk music i realized just how great they are. i remember reading a review somewhere talking about how basically usurp would think up a bunch of really short musical ideas and then basically mesh these completley unrelated ideas together into short songs and in the long run they actually really work well. makes their material all the more frantic. |
6 | | death leprosy
maybe sputnik brainwashed me or something but im sorta in love with death right now. leprosy, human, symbolic, and the sound of perseverance are my favorites. also death t-shirts look bad ass and i want one. |
7 | | tortoise tortoise
feel good stuff. the flow is really good and the album itself feels like one long track. has a nice jazzy vibe to it. |
8 | | elliott smith either/or
listening to this album makes me feel blank. it's weird to describe but it makes you feel like you've been stuck in a room for a few days and you havn't ate much at all. sad album. |
9 | | cop shoot cop consumer revolt
just like usurp synapse these guys only just now really clicked with me. very cynical, but done so in a humerous-ish fashion. kinda like foetus. |
10 | | yaphet kotto the killer was in the government blankets
that one guy's voice is a little annoying at first but once you're exposed to it, it's only a matter of time that you appreciate it. not really "skramz" but still really good emo post-hardcore |
11 | | steel pole bath tub tulip
this album has this really weird nostalgic-like vibe to it, like when i listen to it i automatically think of my grandma's house. that's not a bad thing at all, tho. album reminds me of dust of warm thoughts. |
12 | | megadeth killing is my business...
im bored of writing descriptions now |
13 | | sadus illusions |
14 | | rudimentary peni death church |
15 | | crass the feeding of the 5000 |
16 | | mohinder everything |
17 | | melvins lysol |
18 | | harrison bergeron dead bergeron |
19 | | nuclear death bride of insect |
