10.11.16 | Imported all my CDs and LPs in lossless format some years ago and still do so. Don't grade your library down man just expand the memory, trust me it's the only way :] |
protokute
10.11.16 | well, i don't have an awesome headphone to notice big(even small) differences from 320kbps to FLAC.
but i certainly can from ~200kbps to 320kbps, so i stick with 320kbps |
Sinternet
10.11.16 | 256 aac because that's what i'm used to i guess
if im at my computer i just use whatever the highest setting is for spotify streaming |
elliootsmeuth
10.11.16 | I prefer 320, but I don't care much |
Shadowmire
10.11.16 | mostly flac with some 320. a lot of 320 rips are indiscernible from flac rips |
Polyethylene
10.11.16 | agreed at some 320 and FLAC rips sounding indiscernible
I'll be keeping my favourite albums and anything particularly dense / noisy at lossless |
Spec
10.11.16 | 320 for the most part |
MrSirLordGentleman
10.11.16 | 320 |
tommygun
10.11.16 | 320 is fine for me headphones and car etc
no point having lossless without a $$$ setup
people who claim they can tell the difference are either lying or wankers |
demigod!
10.11.16 | lying wankers |
Polyethylene
10.11.16 | I had a so-called $$$ setup back home, but I'm living abroad atm. Just have my decent headphones and a bluetooth speaker on me |
Maco097
10.11.16 | 320 is perfectly fine for the human ear. |
beefshoes
10.12.16 | 320, the VBR rips or whatever the fuck they are, they're trash. |
StrikeOfTheBeast
10.12.16 | 320 [6530850924] |
heck
10.12.16 | since I don't have the space for lossless, I go with V0 VBR MP3s. VBR encoded at the highest possible settings is virtually indistinguishable from 320 CBR. |
Polyethylene
10.12.16 | lol yeah that seems to be the consensus |
Asdfp277
10.12.16 | 320 m4a |
bloc
10.12.16 | 192 is fine, but downloads tend to be 320 or VBR so that's fine too. |
ScuroFantasma
10.12.16 | Mostly listen to CD's but for digital on the walkman I prefer 320 but won't go below 256. |
Polyethylene
10.12.16 | 192 hurts my ears and soul tbh |
MrSirLordGentleman
10.12.16 | [2] |
MotokoKusanagi
10.12.16 | 320 minimum, FLAC preferred but I'm on what.cd so I can get whatever |
OSEL
11.01.16 | 320 and up is preferred, but doesn't much matter. If I care I buy the vinyl. |
Beardog
11.01.16 | 320 cuz it won't fit otherwise lol |
Asdfp277
11.02.16 | a tip for y'all wanting flac files: get the album on flac, download audacity w/ the ffmpeg plug-in, and convert them to m4a max quality. it's about ~320kbps but retains a much better quality, since the encoding method is better |
NutsDeepInGuts
11.02.16 | is there even a discernible difference between 320 and FLAC? not that I can tell, maybe i need better headphones |
Gwyn.
11.02.16 | V0 format (variable bitrate) because it sounds better if you have really high quality headphones but I go 320kpbs if not available |
GhettoHmbrglr
11.02.16 | lossless for storage, convert everything that isn't jazz/classical to 320 for my portable device. try to collect any 24/96 rips of albums when i can, sometimes i think i can almost kinda hear the difference. |
Asdfp277
11.02.16 | Nuts: depends on a WIDE variety of factors -- who did the album rip, how they did it, the amount of sounds on the album (acoustic albums sound great even @128kbps usually), the mixing, your headphones, your computer, your software, etc etc etc etc etc. Worrying over it is not worth it tbh
It's been proposed that the biggest factor that determines how a rip sounds is the set-up of the person who did it, so it's likely not the amount of kbps as much as how much care the person took while ripping it. The reason why flacs sound better is because they guys who care to use flac actually pay more attention to the ripping process.
that's also prolly why the m4a method works well tbh |
