Favorite 10 Beatles Songs

All personal choices based on what I specifically like about their music. Not here to include any "obvious" classic or whatever.
10The Beatles
Abbey Road

"You Never Give Me Your Money"

Not only does this song start the classic medley, but it has so many section changes that it just appeals to me in general. I love the guitar line that kicks in about 2:20 into the song. Plus the harmonzing during the 1234567 secton is cool as hell.
9The Beatles
The Beatles

"Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey"

Classic 60s hard rock delivered by Lennon himself. The lyrics are so nonsensical and goofy and Lennon's vocal preformance is fittingly rapsy. Honestly this is high point of The White Album for me due to it's silly, yet high energy vibe. C'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon.
8The Beatles
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

"Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!"

John Lennon came up with the lyrics for this psychedelic track when look ata circus poster. I love the carnival music and the mandolin really is an interesting addition. Mr. Kite gives Sgt. Peppers that extra dose of weird that pushes it towards greatness.
7The Beatles
Rubber Soul

"I'm Looking Through You"

Honestly this has to be my favorite Rubber Soul track. It's so catchy and when McCartney picks his vocals up when he says "you're not the same!" they just seem so powerful. Plus the instrumental section that follows is classic.
6The Beatles
Revolver

"I'm Only Sleeping"

My taste can be preditable at times... oh look a 60s psych track with backmasked guitar, but honestly this is one of my favorite examples of that sound and the backups are so pretty and calm. It's the perfect kind of song to just lay on your bed and chill to.
5The Beatles
Past Masters, Vol. 2

"Lady Madonna"

Everything from the cheerful piano part to the sax, to the "pa pa pa" vocals part to the naming of the days of the week to the theme of her being a povertous single mother is just unique, memborable, incredibly well made, and pact with tons of detail for a song that only spans 2 minutes.
4The Beatles
Abbey Road

"She Came in Through the Bathroom Window"

But this is McCartney's best song. What a crazy story, a girl tries a rob a guy and he falls in love with her. Or? I mean this song could mean a lot of things since the lyrics are fairly ambiguous, but that's what I got out of it. Yet again the guiar line is amazing, the concept is so interesting, and it's just so catchy.
3The Beatles
Magical Mystery Tour

"Blue Jay Way"

I've seen this song get a lot of hate, and I seriously don't understand why. It's haunting, trippy, and the cello is down right sinister sounding. It's also so ahead of its time with how the music is basically wall of sound. The backup vocals are also probably the coolest ones hte Beatles have ever done. I'd say it's hte ideal psych song, but it's only #3 on the list.
2The Beatles
Revolver

"Tomorrow Never Knows"

I wish I could see see the look on the face of someone who bought Revolver back in 1966 expecting something similar Help! or even Rubber Soul when this song came on for the first time. Heavy vocal effects, backmasking, strange seagull-like chirps, lyrics about turning off your mind. Even when compared to the rest of Revolver, this is just that much more of a leap forward and a testament to what made the Beatles so incredible.
1The Beatles
Magical Mystery Tour

"I Am the Walrus"

Supposedly Lennon wanted to mess with his fans when he wrote this. So many Beatles fans would try to interpret the meanings when sometimes the songs were meant to be deep, so Lennon combined the lyrics of 3 different songs he was working into 1 and made "I Am the Walrus." Tons of orchestral instruments, disjointed lyrics, and drug references. The section with the English garden almost functions like the eye of the song's tornado. All of it eventually fuzzes into a mess that for some reason includes lines from Shakespeare's King Lear played off of an AM radio. Because parts of a seperate recording (not one by The Beatles themeselves) is incorporated, you could argue that this is an early example of sampling. I can't help, but find the chaos of this song to be the best example of how creative The Beatles were in general.
