DoofusWainwright 11.02.16	dan - for me the two best Wilco albums are about as good as the two best Nick Drake albums and then Bryter Layter isn't much better than the rest of the Wilco discog, I might even prefer 'Being There' to it.
danielcardoso 11.02.16	its the other way around for me actually ahah, summerteeth is about as good as my least fave of nick's. tho i do have to say i may have not yet given yankee the proper time to get fully acquainted with it. as for bryter layter, i sort of have this perception that it's generally the least rated record of nick's, but i really love the atmosphere of it and it's grown to a point where it's a 5 for me now too, has some of his best tunes imo.
DoofusWainwright 11.02.16	Well as I said the last time I did this 'favourite artists' comes down to more than just the music for me - I might consider whether I've seen the band live and whether they were any good, how long I've been listening to them, whether I agree with the band's whole take on things and their style, do I feel their music creates it's own associated fantasy world that I connect to, other personal connections/memories, etc.

Spacesh1p 11.02.16	Less strange that you'd think based on what I've read. AGW is still my all time favorite album so I'd have to side with that. Before and After Science is still a fantastic album though.

DoofusWainwright 11.03.16	Asleep - yeah, a scan of my 5s and a glance of the pie chart and you wouldn't guess so but there's a few metal ratings in there (maybe as many as 150?)
danielcardoso 11.03.16	i totally get that tbh, my pie chart isn't really that representative of my music taste in general too. i reckon folk would have a slightly higher slice, and electronic would definitely squeeze in there too. need to continue to rate more stuff i guess.
DoofusWainwright 11.03.16	Dan there's a limit on the number of slices so rating more doesn't help too much. I probably have over a hundred hip hop albums rated for example - to get it to feature on my chart I might need to treble that figure. Same with prog, pop, metal, punk, Americana, country, dream pop and rock which I'm all guessing I have over 100 ratings for. Stuff I genuinely can be accused of not listening to much (if at all): jazz, soul, funk, classical, sub genres of extreme metal, punk pop, disco. Generally those are my least favourite genres.

theBoneyKing 11.03.16	Doof, as a Wilcovangelist I feel obliged to comment on "They've not released a truly great song since 'A Ghost is Born' - let alone a great full album" I'll accept that there may not be any truly great songs on s/t, Star Wars, or Schmilco, but peeping your ratings I see you hasn't rated The Whole Love, which is top-tier Wilco imo. If you haven't heard it, you definitely should, and if you have, you should really revisit it. Usually I trust your judgment, but if you don't at least think "One Sunday Morning" is a truly great song I'll have to start doubting you...

theBoneyKing 11.03.16	I loved Reflektor when it first came out but haven't spun it in forever. AF are pretty much done is my assessment. Their astounding 3 album run will keep them high in my rankings for a long time but my guess is either they start releasing albums more and more rarely and they keep being "ok but nothing special" sort of deals (like Will Butler's solo LP from last year) or they disband after the next album or two.
