| Metal You're Dying To Hear
without even knowing it. | 1 | | Kalisia Cybion
The first classic rating I've given to an album in months. The most amazingly diverse metal album I've heard in a while. The combination of styles here is so fluid. Melodic death metal, black metal, symphonic metal, industrial metal, technical metal, jazz, and electronica all in one 80 minute album and it actually sounds phenomenal, never mind palatable? This needs to be heard. There's something here for everyone. Ridiculous. | 2 | | Transcending Bizarre? The Serpent's Manifolds
One hell of an avant-garde/black metal album. One of my top metal albums for the year. Fans of Unexpect, Sigh, Arcturus, Solefald, and Diabolical Masquerade will love this one. | 3 | | Ablaze In Hatred Deceptive Awareness
Beautifully depressing atmospheric/melodic doom metal very reminiscent of Draconian and Swallow The Sun with the occasional tendency to turn towards the funeral side, reminding the listener of Evoken or Remembrance. | 4 | | Empyrean Sky The Snow White Rose of Paradise
Insanely nasty epic progressive death metal. Elegant vocals, amazing musicianship, sexy atmosphere. A truly unmissable album. | 5 | | Persefone Truth Inside The Shades
All prog metal fans will love this one. Truth Inside The Shades is an album that could have easily been released by Opeth. Vocals by three different band members provides for some nice variety and the clean production and solid instrumentals make for a memorable listening experience. | 6 | | Haggard Awaking The Centuries
This is true orchestral metal. The arrangements here make the supposed symphonic metal "titans" sound like amateurs. | 7 | | Varathron His Majesty At The Swamp
Greek black metal of the utmost quality. Their countrymen in Rotting Christ seem to garner more attention and I honestly don't know why. They do everything better. | 8 | | Mustan Kuun Lapset Viimeinen Laulu Kuolemasta
Modern Finnish melodic black metal with some doom elements. | 9 | | Eventide Diaries From The Gallows
Pretty good Swedish melodic death metal with some occasionally progressive moments and some obvious influence from Dark Tranquillity. | 10 | | Asmodeus Imperium Damnatum
Extremely fast, melodic/brutal black metal from Austria. Much like a modernized Panzer Division Marduk without the qualities that plagued the album. This album is raw yet possesses superb, crystal clear production. Not kvlt? Not possible? See for your fucking self. | 11 | | Rudra Kurukshetra
Vedic death metal? Straight from Singapore comes this Asian gem. Brutal paces combined with South Asian and East Indian influence makes for a unique listen. If you like your metal ethnic (like me), get this. | 12 | | IXXI Assorted Armament
Very solid black/thrash metal similar to Aura Noir. | 13 | | Nervecell Preaching Venom
Decent technical death metal from the U.A.E that suffers from the odd use of breakdowns. Dave Haley from Psycroptic lends his talents at drums on this album. | 14 | | Spectral Stormriders
Black/Viking metal with some power metal elements. | 15 | | Gorath Misotheism
Very solid progressive black metal. Fellow label mates include Ikuinen Kaamos, Be'Lakor, Cor Scorpii, and Mar De Grises. | |

08.22.08 | Hey......
Get these. | fireaboveicebelow
08.22.08 | this is better than the other list, I love you
| asdemonsburn
08.22.08 | 15 is the only one I have, check out In Lingua Mortua | willfellmarsy
08.22.08 | a lotta o these sound good but will they deliver? | Athom
08.22.08 | Sweet! I'm getting 4 and 7 right now while i look for the rest. | BallsToTheWall
08.22.08 | Jrowas list was great, got your back man. But seriously, you've been doing your homework man. All of these sound amazing. Don't delete this list, at least for now so I can pen all these down. 1 is incredible from what i've heard, I mean incredible. | jrowa001
08.22.08 | if fireaboveicebelow is referring to my list then sorry mine wasnt all metal you douche. i need 5 since i like Core. 13 was ok. ill have to look into the rest for sure | rasputin
08.22.08 | oh god, a zoo list straight after a jrowa list, that's like another 50 albums to my list | Zoo
08.22.08 | @fire: I appreciate the praise but you can't really bash jrowa for adding variety to his list. And you have to acknowledge the work he put into that list. Shit, this one took me almost an hour and this is only half as long as jrowa's.
@asdemonsburn: haha, dude. If you notice, I was the one who added In Lingua Mortua to the site. But thanks anyway. That would've been an awesome rec if I didn't already know of them.
@willfellmarsy: The first six will, at the very least, blow your fucking brain out of your ears. So the answer is yes.
@Balls: Thanks dude. There's a lot here I think you'll like.
@Jrowa: Truth Inside The Shades is so much better than Core it's ridiculous. You'll love it. And I agree about Nervecell. They're a decent listen but that's all. | Poet
08.22.08 | I would check some of these out, but I am in a non metal phase for the past couple of days. Hell all I listened to today was Streetlight Manifesto and Neutral Milk Hotel. | Zoo
08.22.08 | Poet, Haggard is for you. I urge you to look into them. | BallsToTheWall
08.22.08 | Everything i've heard here is win. Buying 1,2,3,8, and 9 soon as possible, along with Axamenta, pre ordering the new Oceans Of Sadness too. i'll be broke but happy. | Poet
08.22.08 | Listening to 6 right now. Arrangements are unbelievable (not outdoing Nightwish's best work, but destroying some of their lesser songs). The thing that bugs me is the harsh vocals. I would love to listen to this without vocals to absorb the music fully. Also from what I've heard so far (two songs as I type this lol), the soprano vocals are just meh. Can't knock these songs for the music though, as it is amazing. | Zoo
08.22.08 | @Balls: Wow, a lot of faith you have in my descriptions. At least you won't be disappointed.
@Poet: I agree about the vocals. I should've specified in the description that I meant the instruments and not the music as a whole. Their other albums are right on par with Awaking the Centuries but I think you'll find that Eppur Si Muove is specifically more towards your preference. | Polaris
08.22.08 | nah i'm good | jrowa001
08.22.08 | better than Core? damn i really need to get it then. thanks for backing me up bro, you the man too. your lists are always awesome. it did take me forever since only like 3 or 4 albums were already in the database | Zoo
08.22.08 | Yeah, I know what you mean. I had to add everything here except for 4, 5, 6, and 14. | Krista17
08.22.08 | ZooYorker6 FTW. I'm assuming this is Epic List part II that I should check out minus 3. | Zoo
08.22.08 | Pretty much. There's some others though.
And thanks for bringing your online celebrity status to my list. ;) | botb
08.22.08 | i need to look into these. thanks for the list brah | DBlitz
08.22.08 | I want to check out
1, 3, 4, 5, 15
what else would you recommend based on my ratings? | south_of_heaven 11
08.22.08 | 10 seems cool and shit but the rest look like meh to me! | south_of_heaven 11
08.22.08 | oh I skipped over IXXI. They're solid. | Crysis
08.22.08 | 1 is excellent. Not a classic but very close. Those techno-like parts just ruin it for me. Get rid of those and it's a 5. | foreverendeared
08.22.08 | getting 1 now | Zoo
08.22.08 | @DBlitz: You'd probably like 2, 11, and 14 as well.
@south: I really think you should give 7 and 11 a shot, too.
@Crysis: I actually enjoy most of the techno parts. There's really only one I that I didn't like.
@forever: The album hasn't been officially released since Kalisia has been trying to find a label to release it on. As such, "correct" formats of the album are difficult to find online. There's three versions: the album in two parts, the album in four parts (according to its four part theme:Revelation Elevation, Regression, and Extinction), and the album in its original 20 song format. Personally, I like the four part version better, but if you want the 20 song format, I'm pretty sure I have the only set of links for that version so I could send them to you if you'd like. | Crysis
08.22.08 | I got the 4 part version. It flowed perfectly. |
