| June 2016 resumé PART 2
As always (from now on), if you indeed arrived on this thread not accidentally, but by your own decision, write "I like your big hairy cat, mate." in the comment section, so that I could keep track of how many people are actually reading these lists of mine. The original list ran out of space, so I'm making another one. This is no best-of list, it is just a bunch of records I've heard, that were RELEASED this month. Not the ones I've heard this month, but ones that were RELEASED this month that I've heard. Therefore, as the time goes, I'll be adding more items on the list, since I listen to stuff constantly. By the way, the names occasionally written under the comments are titles of songs that I recommend. If there are none written, it's either because I didn't like enough of them or because I can't point out a highlight. And now a score guide: 10/9 - 5; 8 - 4.5; 7 - 4; 6 - 3.5/3; 5 - 2.5; 4 - 2; 3 - 1.5; 2/1 - 1 | 20 | | Kodak Black Lil B.I.G. Pac
Yeah, this was just utterly boring. Kodak's slow, tedious delivery just kills any shreds of potential. Ufff. 4/10 | 19 | | Beartooth Aggressive
Decent vocals, nicely hard hitting instrumentation, too long a runtime. There's just not enough compelling material to fill out the entire runtime of the album, even though it's barely 40 minutes long. 6/10 (for the effort) | 18 | | Sannhet Young Death
It's always iteresting to see what bands have considered unusable in the past released many years later...with that said, this is an eerie and really intriguing piece of Metal with sometimes really awful production, but still its own creepy personality and obscure musicianship talent. 7/10 | 17 | | Mourn (SPA) Ha, Ha, He
Fuzzy Lo-Fi Indie Rock with basically no personality or engaging songwriting. 5/10 | 16 | | Jon Bellion The Human Condition
I can't say I didn't expect it to be bland and flavourless, but that brief guitar solo at the end of 80's Films is juicy. 4/10 | 15 | | Drei Affen Drei Affen
Well, nobody's reading these anyway so I guess it doesn't matter what I say, but this EP is some of the most crushing Hardcore Screamo of 2016, no question. 8/10 | 14 | | Slow Bloom Slow Bloom
A fiery and energetic Screamo, goddammit! I am genuinely curious as to what to expect from these fellas in the future. 7/10
Teeth Marks, Obscura Vision | 13 | | De La Soul For Your Pain & Suffering
A bunch of taster-tracks that don't have anything much distinctive to them and are purely meant to get you hyped for the band's newest full-length album. 6/10
Beautiful Night | 12 | | Augustines This is Your Life
What if Sting decided to go U2... 5/10 | 11 | | Adolescents Manifest Destiny
I like the fact that the band is incorporating much more varieted guitarwork than other Pop-Punk bands, but my issue with the album is that compositionally, except for the said guitar riffs, nothign really sticks out. The songs just sort of rehash each other and none bring anything new to the table. 6/10 | 10 | | Apathy Handshakes With Snakes
Apathy once again comes through with a punchy, clever, entertaining and quite personal, though with its own amount of quirk and goofiness. His flow, lyrics and production are all top-notch as always. I don't really have a lot more to say about this album. It is great, as great as Apathy's albums usually are. Listen to it! 8/10
Pay Your Dues, Rap Is Not Pop, Don't Touch That Dial, Charlie Brown, Affection Deficit Syndrome, No Such Thing, Handshakes With Snakes | 9 | | Pale Grey Lore Pale Grey Lore
Bass driven, ugly sounding, but still melodic Stoner Rock album. I've had my problems with Doom-inspired Rock in the past, but at least I could always appreciate the instrumental side of the music. PGL don't really bring anything above that, but for what it is, it's certainly a decent album. 6/10 | 8 | | Itto Pursuant
Dirty, muddy and gnawing Hardcore record. My only issue is maybe the lengths of the tracks. I think that they end abruptly. And though I understand that the short track runtime kind of comes with the territory, I still feel like the music would benefit if it just ran for a little longer. 7/10
M.I.S.C., Mayfly, Impermanence, Death Frenzy, Diagoro, Samsara | 7 | | Pyramidal From Other Spheres
On this EP, Pyramidal throw us right into the cosmic instrumental odyssey, but one shant expect to encounter anything beyond the usual. 7/10 | 6 | | G.L.O.S.S. Trans Day Of Revenge
From now on I will start ignoring and blacklisting anyone who'll try to convince me that Against Me! are essential to transgender Punk music. 7/10
Fight, We Live, Trans Day Of Revenge | 5 | | Future Project E.T.: Esco Terrestrial
I've already heard one completely boring and unimpressive Future porject this year, so why did I think that a rapper who is famous for working exclusively in one style only could improve on another album? 4/10 | 4 | | Virus (NO) Memento Collider
How come you have so much going for you and yet you release an album with few to no memorable moments. There are tracks that are up to 10 minutes long that never progress or change their pace. It becomes stale and excrutiatingly boring so quickly. I can imagine a lot of great things that may be done with the kind of instrumentation the band has. But the band uses the exact same tropes and tricks throughout the whole record. It feels like the same track repeated again and again to no effect whatsoever. But above all this, there are these godawful obnoxious vocals. It's not even a singing, it is slightly rhythmic spoken word. Yeah, I don't have that many nice things to say about this one. It's an uneventful and uninspired drag with no focus at all. 4/10 | 3 | | Pomrad Knights
Electrojazz...Yeah what is that going to be like? It sounds like the music from those Spotify commercials. 6/10 | 2 | | Shook Continuum
I'll be fully honest with you, the only reason I listened to this album was because that cover artwork is just gorgeous. So I thought that the album itself might be decent too. But now that I've heard it, I don't really know what to think of it. It certainly has some sort of charm to it, but overall I lack interest in it simply because I don't find this sort of pure relaxed Electronica enjoyable. But you might though. 6/10 | 1 | | Bayside Vacancy
Alright, so the vocals are quite decent, but in combination with the presented melodies they sound like they'd much better work in some sort of underwhelming musical, not on a Pop-Punk album. These harmless and joyous music, melodies and vocals just don't match with the lyrics about being the last remaining soldier on a battlefield, fighting back or standing up for yourself (violently I presume). 5/10
