01.23.17 | My favorite produced album is Marilyn Manson's Antichrist Superstar. It only get loud on songs that it needs to be and the songs in general have an unbelievable atmosphere to them, like I'm watching a horror b-movie in the attic of a haunted house on a rainy day. Every song has so much layers that you can't catch in simply one listen
My favorite production job that was not done by Trent Reznor or any other industrial artist is for Tears For Fears' The Seeds of Love. The instrumentation is incredibly lush and it feels like I'm in the same room all the musicians in each song are jamming in because of how clearly defined everything is
Other albums off the top of my head would be:
MGMT - Congratulations (a loud album that seldom clips and every instrument can be heard clearly, a very rare feat for any album with an avg of 4 db)
Mayhem - De Mysteriis dom Sathanas (my favorite production job on a black metal album, proof that the audio doesn't have to be fucked in order to be kvlt)
Jane's Addiction - Nothing's Shocking (Yeah it's still kinda 80s sounding but wow does every song hit you like a brick on the head)
The Beatles - Revolver (George Martin's production on any Beatles album is gold really, this is my personal favorite because of how busy it is yet everything comes together perfectly)
Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin II (Not one of my favorites by the band but Jimmy Page is an innovative producer and this is still a marvel to listen to at a production point of view)
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here (You already got DSOTM so great pick!)
