Top 15 Kendrick Lamar Songs

Expecting a lot of dissent.

Kendrick Lamar

(Bonus/Joke ENTRY) Beyonce

Jay better watch out, Kendrick fiendin for Beyonce. Hilarious

To Pimp a Butterfly

Alright

Probably an important song, protesters were chanting it yada yada yada who cares. The thing bangs.

Untitled 02

This song giving all the ignants hope that Kendrick will release an album full of bangerz. Keep dreaming

good kid

Always thought this song was underrated on GKMC. That guitar riff that weaves in and out is tite.

The Blacker The Berry

If Kendrick released this song today he would get disowned. Maybe he did get a ton of shit for it and I wasn't paying attention. (I remember that he did get some shit)

m.A.A.d City

Either part of the song would individually be the most bangin ish of 2012 but they on the same song! The voice modulation thing at the end is crazy!

These Walls

This song probably took the most amount of time for me to "get" from TPAB. I don't particularly love the lyrics on this but as a whole the song is very smooth and enjoyable.

Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe

Probably one of the first songs I heard by Kendrick. On paper this song shouldn't really do it for me, but THATS WHY YOU PLAY THE GAME. Perfect song.

Institutionalized

The first 60 seconds or so before the main beat are amazing, "LAY IN THE WHITE HOUSE AND GET HIIIGGGHH LORD." Snoop Dogg's grandpa voice and Bilal's grandma voice are too on point.

Real

I don't care how annoying you think the hook is (FYI it's not even annoying), this song is the climax of the whole story arc and SHOULD be the last song on GKMC. Saw some dude on /r/hiphopheads say it was the one song on GKMC that he would take off. SMH. Pure ignorance. The slide string/synth part near the end has an amazing bittersweet vibe to it.

Wesley's Theory

The sampled section at the beginning is a dope song on it's own right and my white college-liberal roommates get uncomfortable whenever I play the original on speaker. When the main part of song comes in it's a perfect indication of what's to come on the masterpiece that is To Pimp A Butterfly. (Notice I used college-liberal instead of liberal. There's a difference!)

HiiiPower

The beat is superb, instead of a J. Cole/Kendrick album let's just get a Kendrick album produced by J. Cole.

Money Trees

The reversed-sample is really something special in the way it's able to convey a vibe. The rest of the beat perfectly complements it, esp. with the glassy-hatty percussion that comes in. Jay Rock's verse is also excellent.

Untitled 05

Anna Wise's intro is jazzy perfection, Kendrick's verse gives some outstanding imagery, and Punch's verse leaves us hungry for more.

Momma

The beat complements the vocals perfectly esp. at 3:12 when the extra vocal sample comes in. This song is a great picture into the mind of Kendrick and why I respect him so much.

Overly Dedicated

The Heart Pt. 2

I will admit, I find the interview at the beginning kind of cheesy. The ambience of the beat is perfect for letting Kendrick's overtake the song. I doubt anybody will agree with my choice for #1, but this was the first Lamar song that I loved and I still think it's a perfect blueprint of what Kendrick would go on to do. And for some reason that I can't quite pinpoint, the lyrics are captivating and keep you intrigued throughout the song. Check this out if you haven't heard it.
