An Honest Ranking Of Anthrax

Stomp 442

3.5/10

As ass as the ass of the dude standing on the front cover. Boring and lazy. It's clear after the backlash of the darker alternative style of Sound Of White Noise, Anthrax wanted to return to their more fun roots, but boy dude they fucking fail. Only three songs worth checking on this record: Fueled, King Size, and Bare. Other than that: skip. Anthrax has made average albums, but this is the only one I'd call truly bad. Best Song: Fueled.

We've Come for You All

6.0/10

Yawn. For the life of me I barely even remember this album. Sucks that John Bush is a talented singer but simply just not given enough to work with in this band. Best Song: We've Come For You All
9Anthrax
Volume 8: The Threat Is Real

7.0/10

Better than a lot of people, the band included, give it credit for, but that's not saying much. Volume 8 is decent enough to be passable, but not anything truly worth listening to. Generic is the keyword to describe this album, and that kinda describes a lot of the Bush era. Best Song: Crush
8Anthrax
State of Euphoria

7.0/10

Following up on the masterpiece Among The Living is a tough act, and Anthrax did not follow through on it. So many filler songs here, and State Of Euphoria lacks any real creative genius. Many songs go on for too long, and the lyrics here are really childish, especially on the song Finale. There are some great tracks here and there, but you wouldn't be missing much if you skipped. Best Song: Now It's Dark

Fistful of Metal

7.5/10

Anthrax's debut album is decent enough, but not as memorable as other debuts at the time (Metallica's Kill 'Em All, Exodus's Bonded By Blood). The majority of the songs are good, but the album just goes through one ear and out the other. It was apparent that Anthrax hadn't quite found their sound yet, but were on the right track. Best Song: Howling Furies
6Anthrax
Worship Music

8.5/10

Solid album, and a great comeback after the final days of the Bush era. Mean riffs, catchy choruses, and aggression, Worship Music has everything I've come to like in an Anthrax album. Best Song: Fight 'Em 'Til You Can't
5Anthrax
Persistence of Time

9.0/10

Continuing the consistency of their last few albums, Persistence Of Time changes things up a bit with a more progressive style. Songs here are much longer, but hardly ever feel like it, while still keeping that punk-Anthrax edge. Best Song: Time
4Anthrax
For All Kings

9.0/10

You read that right, this is number four. Not a bad song on this album, its weakest point is All Of Them Thieves, but even that isn't a BAD song. This album built upon the success of Worship Music, with crazy tempo changes, incredible melody, and some of the best choruses in a metal album I've heard in recent year. If it wasn't for Terminal Redux, this would've been my thrash album of 2016. Best Song: Zero Tolerance
3Anthrax
Spreading the Disease

9.5/10

One of the funnest thrash albums there is. Singlehandedly proved Anthrax to be worthy enough to be in the Big Four, and was the record that introduced me to the band. Best Song: Armed And Dangerous
2Anthrax
Sound of White Noise

9.5/10

One of the best alternative metal albums I've ever heard, along with Dirt and Superunknown. People just hate on it because it's a genre change and not the thrash sound that had been acquainted with past records. Best Song: Potters Field
1Anthrax
Among the Living

10/10

This is what top tier thrash looks like. Best Song: Among The Living
