| Review GMM 2017 - Saturday
Lucky me, I won a day ticket for Graspop! Sweet I can finally see Amenra, Alcest, Dillinger Escape Plan, Emperor and many others!
Oh wait, my ticket is for Saturday and all those bands were on Friday? Oh well, It's free, so who am I to complain, right? Let's see what Saturday had to offer.
List is in chronological order of how I saw them. | 1 | | SubRosa More Constant Than The Gods
[3/5] First band I saw that day. I arrived pretty late so I sadly didn't see the full set but what I saw was pretty great. The sound quality was great and every instrument and vocals were clear. Don't really have much more to say since I only heard 3 song, but all of those were good. | 2 | | Svart Crown Profane
[4,5/5] My personal high light of the day came early, very early. While I only heard their album "Profane" (which I liked, it was in my AOTY list a couple years back) I really wanted to see these guys live. But they absolutely killed it, the sound quality was perfect, the performance spot-on, no irritating speeches and other bullshit. Kinda sad their set only lasted for half an hour, these guys deserved more. Also a bit annoyed they barely had any people in their venue. | 3 | | Architects All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us
[1.5/5] Bad, boring and their sound quality was horrible. Everything sounded muddy and you could barely hear anything bar the guitars. But apparently I was the only one who heard this because everyone else was having a good time. Also, I hate it when you beg for your crowd to do wall of deaths/crowd surfing or cirkel pits, your music should inspire it, you shouldn't beg for it. Naysayer was the only remotely decent thing I heard, but even that wasn't that good. | 4 | | Devin Townsend Project Transcendence
[4.5/5] Can someone explain to me why this guy wasn't given main stage? Amazing performance (especially when he started shredding near the end of the first song). He was constantly making sexually tinted jokes, which was kinda funny to. But his performance was spot-on, the sound quality was perfect, the lighting was amazing, the set list was great, pretty much all I expected from him. Would definitely like to see him again in the future. | 5 | | Mayhem Esoteric Warfare
[4/5] Being a black metal fan I HAD to see these guys. And in short; they where pretty good. Loved their performance! They entered the stage in black garbs and with a lot of smoke, never said a word te entire set and just started playing. | 7 | | Amorphis Under the Red Cloud
[3.5/5] The last band on my list that I absolutely wanted to see. Also one of the last that I saw that wasn't complete shit that day. They played a great set, lots of energy, great sound quality again. Set was a tad long though, I personally thought they kind of overstayed their welcome. | 8 | | Five Finger Death Punch Got Your Six
[0/5] Why? Why? WHY? Why are these fools on a main stage? Why does anyone like them, AT ALL? Their music was bad, uninspired and boring. They seemed to play a singe riff for over an hour. Their lyrics are downright retarded too, and their performance was plain bad. Code Orange used to be the worst band I ever saw live, but now they give the crown over to these guys, this show had NO REDEEMING QUALITIES AT ALL. And to make matters worse, they were given the main stage. WHY? I refuse to believe anyone actually likes these guys and hope they were all just ironically playing along. | 9 | | Deep Purple inFinite
[4/5] The only dudes deserving of their main stage position. Great performance (but a tad long at 1h30minutes), lots of great moments from the guitarist and the guy behind the keyboard. Not really y kind of music, but I enjoyed it immensely. | 10 | | In Flames Battles
[2/5] Pretty much most things from FFDP can be pasted here. Except these guys didn't act like huge assholes and played at least 1 song that was listenable (Take This Life, or something). Also, I remember these guys being Melodeath, but the band I saw sounded like a metalcore one without any real bite. | |
Evreaia
06.20.17 | tldr:
Svart Crown, Towsend, Mayhem, While She Sleeps, Amorphis and Deep Purple were good. Architects, Five Finger Death Punch and In Flames sucked.
| Papa Universe
06.20.17 | Nice to see Deep Purple still kickin' it. | Evreaia
06.20.17 | I'm kind of ashamed to say I never heard a song from them before. But they were great, really great. |
