Week Shit, with dbizzles.

It's Saturday. I'm at work. Alone. Waiting for the phone to ring and validate my presence. It is yet to come and making a list sounded more fun. Anyway, list is albums I've jammed this week, in no order really, with a little description for each. Recs always welcome. Also, I still have a New Bermuda download card to give away lol, apparently no one fucking wants it around here.
1Thunder Dreamer
Capture

emo/indie stuff, I guess.

This was pretty okay. Why Bother and The Bridge were both very enjoyable. 3/5.
2Genghis Tron
Board Up the House

experimental/metal heavy with electronics.

I haven't heard this in years and it better suits my taste now than it did the first time I jammed it. Relief fucking rules. May bump my rating. 3.5/5 for now.
3Spose
Good Luck With Your Life

hip-hop

Standard Spose release. He'll never not rap about being 'a representative for people who got little dough' and how grateful he is to be able to pay his bills by rapping. Still got a soft spot for the guy and he always has some great lines and decent beats. 3/5.
4Infinity Shred
Long Distance

"sad EDM"

I've been listening to this off and on since I saw them open for HORSE. Still digging it and like the whole damn thing. Datadealer, Motiv and Tragic Lagger are my favorites. Interested to see fi these guys get better or worse, could go either way. 4.5/5
5Isis
In the Absence of Truth

post metal

Isis is one of a few bands that took me by storm this year. I know I'm late to the party, but I don't care. Better late than never. Garden of Light, ftw. 4.5/5
6Isis
Celestial

post metal

This album is a force of exhaustion and decay. See my sound off if you'd like, it's the big dopey one. Sometimes this is the ISIS I need most. 4.5/5
7Xasthur
Telepathic With The Deceased

black metal

I think this was a Hawks rec on one of his recent lists. I enjoyed it a lot. I've been stuck on atmo-black for a bit so it was nice to get something a little more raw. 3.5/5
8Job for a Cowboy
Sun Eater

death metal/cynic bass worship

Yeah, yeah, the band that isn't still the same band but with the same name that used to suck and released an anomaly with this that has tracks ranging from okay to great. Fuck that. I've been a JFAC fan since DOOM and while I can see why they are polarizing, I feel like people discredited them too early. Having said that, this is probably their best release even if I still like the others. 4.5/5
9Falls of Rauros
Vigilance Perennial

atmo-black/folk

I've been stuck on this album for weeks. Can't stop jamming it. White Granite is my SOTY, but really the entire album is pretty much perfect and may end up in my 5's. 4.5/5
10Radiohead
In Rainbows

alt-rock/experimental

This is my favorite Radiohead album by a fair margin. They really captured a special sound that they were able to vary enough with each track without ever breaking up the flow. Thom's vocals are at his best here, imo. 5/5
11Queens of the Stone Age
Songs for the Deaf

rock

This is my second favorite QOTSA album just behind Like Clockwork. Solid throughout, except for Another Love song- that track is pretty shit. You Think I Ain't Worth a Dollar, But I
Feel Like a Millionaire rustles my jimmies every time. 4.5/5
12Queens of the Stone Age
Rated R

rock

As you can see, I'm gearing up for the new release by revisiting the pre-Clockwork era. I feel like this album had a lost of potential, but it feels inconsistent. Still really good for the most part. 3.5/5
13Deafheaven
Roads to Judah

trve elite black metal/xxxtra kvlt church burning music

I've been listening to this more and more and it's one or two plain guitar lines away from being a 5. The band was still very green at this point and it shows, but holy fuck, there are some amazing moments on this album, and the 38-minute length is perfect. 4.5/5
14Elder (USA-MA)
Reflections of a Floating World

stoner/prog

Just barely listened to this yesterday and it seems to wear out its welcome over its 60+ minute length. However, Sanctuary is so good that I played it again when the album was over. 3.5/5
15Cocteau Twins
Heaven or Las Vegas

dream pop

Uh.... I think KILL recommended this in an Alcest thread. Which I thought was weird- that it was a KILL rec, not that it was in an Alcest thread. This is pretty lush, but really not for me. Couple catchy songs though. 3/5
16Neurosis
A Sun That Never Sets

post metal/sludge

FRRRRROMMMMMMM THHHHHHHE HILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!! Another band I got into hard this year. This is my favorite so far, but I still need to give a portion of their discog some more attention. What's not to love about this one? Title track is the shit, too. 5/5
17Igorrr
Savage Sinusoid

???

What the fuck is this? Do I like it? Is it good? It is complete horse shit? These answers and many more remain to be known. I'm intrigued at least. ?/5
18Thou
Tyrant

sludge/doom

K, so this might be the first week in months that I actually haven't listened to this, but I didn't want to end with Igorrr or an odd numbered list so I just figured I'd remind everyone that this is one of the best metal albums of all time by a band that probably has the best overall discography in the last 10 years of metal. I Was Ignored. And Judged. And Cast Down is the fucking GOAT. 5/5
