| Picking Folklore
Ok, so My wife, Daughter, and me went to a little resort town where rich Chicago fucks blow their dough about 30 minutes from where I live for breakfast, There is a great little breakfast place there and after we wandered the tourist stores, I come across a store with records, so I decide to amuse myself by looking at the way overpriced shit records that these places always have, you know $20 for The Nylon Curtain from Billy Joel. As I started browsing the owner said to me "I just got these in and haven't priced them, I'll give you a good deal on them". Ok, whatever i think, as I am rifling through the boxes, and then there it was, almost the Holy Grail of not only Dylan collectors but vinyl collectors in general, the Great White Wonder from Bob Dylan. Holy Shit I think, this can not be, but it was, and remembering what the dude said I throw it in the middle of a few other odd weird records I find and a couple classics and present them to the owner. He glazes over them and says, well they are usually $15 bucks a pieces, but I'll give you them for $45 bucks, I start to further negotiate, but half way through i drop it before i blow the steal of a lifetime, so for $9 buck I got a very good copy of Great White Wonder, at some stupid little tourist t-shirt store, crazy shit.

01.02.18 | update. I was in the same town for a winter festival a week before Christmas and looked in the same store and found another Dylan boot, must of missed it the first time in my euphoria. Stealin', another GWW type handwritten label and the like with no mention of Dylan, the owner had no idea what it was because you have to know what it is to know what it is, I talked him down to $5, a little scratchy but I'm a proud owner |
