| Shoegaze of 2017
I was wondering where are all the sick shoegaze release at? Until I made a research and find quite amount of shoegaze. So here, a compilation of shoegaze LP release from year 2017. I will accept any recs while slowly listening to all of the albums I find. SPOTIFY PLAYLIST FOR THESE: https://open.spotify.com/user/ql3phd8kcndiv5uhs1g37udrk/playlist/0Lnu9k9j6fcbIhc5LTYtAZ | 1 | | Jefre Cantu-Ledesma On The Echoing Green
Ambient, shoegaze
Verdict: need re-listen.
An ambient with a lot of shoegaze. I didn't find this particularly pretty at the initial listen. Too much effects and random noises without too much of a clear point. | 2 | | Ride Weather Diaries
Britpop, gaze
Verdict: n/a
Haven't actually listened to this, will update. | 3 | | Airiel Molten Young Lovers
Dreamgaze
Verdict: Best comeback album?
While I dislike Airiel's previous album. I find their newest album to be a major step up. The vocal is no longer obnoxious like is in The Battle of Sealand. The instrumental and production are airy, the highlight for me would be drumming in here. | 4 | | Alter Pendulum
Post-rock, gaze, doom
Verdict: Aoty contender
Thanks for Conmaniac for the review. Quite possibly aoty. The originality in here is supreme. | 5 | | Slowdive Slowdive
Dreamgaze
Verdict: meh
Slowdive's newest is alright. Unlike Pygmalion or Souvlaki, while this album is quite lovely, the sound is washed up and pretty much forgettable. | 6 | | Secret Shine There Is Only Now
Dreamgaze, Alternative Rock
Verdict: Better than (the newest) Slowdive
With the airy production, Secret Shine crafted one of the best Dreamgaze album of 2017. Album is filled with a pop-ish vocal melody and instrumentation that's both thick and light. Good album. | 7 | | Last Leaf Down Bright Wide Colder
Post-Rock, Gaze
Verdict: nature gaze?
Take out the blackness in blackgaze, and you'll get this album. No harsh vocal, no pummeling drums, but it sounds like a blackgaze. And it's quite pretty.
Update: It's also quite dull in here and there after listening for a while. | 8 | | Cloakroom Time Well
Shoegaze, Slowcore
Verdict: Solid
One of the thing with slowcore: it needs time to digest. And so with this album, I can't say much but a very solid low-key vibe of a shoegaze. | 9 | | Palehorse/Palerider Burial Songs
Shoegaze, Doom, Post-rock
Verdict: Aoty contender
DOOMGAZE. Album is filled with 4 tracks that last from 9-10 minutes. All of them seem to flow seamlessly. The drumming is slow yet intense; the bass is thick, a highlight of its own while the guitar is dancing over its pedal. Real good stuffs here. | 10 | | Infinity Girl Somewhere Nice, Someday
Dreamgaze, Alt-rock
Verdict: Better than Slowdive
Another dreamgaze that is better than slowdive? How could be.. I mean this and Secret Shine sound pretty similar, just a little bit more noisy and more various effect. | 11 | | Panda Riot Infinity Maps
Dreamgaze
Verdict: Better than Slowdive
Taken aback from all of the dreamgaze from above, this one has a simpler structure and less effects, but catchy as fuck at times. | 12 | | Dead Horse One Season of Mist
Shoegaze, Alt-rock
Verdict: Better than Slowdive | 13 | | Blankenberge Radiogaze
Dreamgaze
Verdict: Not better than Slowdive
A fail dreamgaze. It's like the newest Slowdive with an even more lacking in direction. Meh.. | 14 | | No Sun If Only
Alt-rock, gaze | 15 | | Shelling Waiting For Mint Shower!!
Dreamgaze, Ambient
Verdict: I'm so fucking high mate.
So, this album is a dreamgaze with a lot of Ambient. It's like falling slowly into a never ending pile of cloud. The production is so light that you can't even feel it! | 16 | | Mountaineer Sirens & Slumber
Post-Rock(metal?), Gaze
Verdict: Did some dudes just invent Sludge-gaze?
I'm kinda lost whether to put this on Post Metal or Post Rock, because the album has a post-rock structure with a sludge metal guitar tone. And yeah, this kicks ass. | 17 | | Principe Valiente Oceans
Dreamgaze
Verdict: Not Better Than Slowdive
I feel bad disliking this. The instrument in here is pretty much everything that I'm looking for from shoegaze. But the vocal sucks so bad. | 18 | | Seasurfer Under the Milkyway... Who Cares
Dreamgaze | 19 | | Fazerdaze Morningside
Dream Pop
Verdict: I'm a lucky girl ^_^
Yes, this is a definition of a happy music. It has an amazingly catchy and simplistic vocal melody with infectious hooks. The instruments only complement this album even further. But too bad, the second half feels like a one trick pony where it sounds all similar. | 20 | | Soon, She Said The First Casualty Of Love Is Innocence
Dreamgaze | 21 | | CLUSTERSUN Surfacing to Breathe
Shoegaze, Psych, post-punk
Verdict: I'm still trying to find myself trying to like psych as a genre.
If you like psychedelic gaze, you might like this. Personally, I'm not sure how to feel about this album. | 22 | | Life on Venus Encounters
Dreamgaze
Verdict: Aoty contender
Tons and tons of reverb. The bass is crunchy. The vocal is ever so subtle and subdued, the best of its kind. I'm vibing with this real hard. | 23 | | Monster Movie Keep the Voices Distant
Dreamgaze | 24 | | Looprider Umi
Shoegaze, Stoner Rock, Post-rock
Verdict: Boris worship
This is one of the bands that is trying so hard to copy their main inspiration. While it's actually very well executed, it ended up to be unfulfilling. | 25 | | Cigarettes After Sex Cigarettes After Sex
Dream Pop
Verdict: Do I like this or not?
I'm not sure. But I can vibe with this despite finding the vocal to be very, very weird. I guess it's great? | 26 | | Planning for Burial Below the House
Shoegaze, Post-Rock, Ambient | 27 | | Sorrow Plagues Homecoming
Blackgaze | 28 | | Les Discrets Prédateurs
Blackgaze | 29 | | Turnover Good Nature
whack
Verdict: Yeah, this is shit. | 30 | | Kairon IRSE! Ruination
Post-Rock, Shoegaze, Psych | 31 | | The Stargazer Lilies Lost
Shoegaze | |
Aberf

11.26.17 | 26 was underwhelming imo | matbla00
11.26.17 | 4 is really cool, thanks for rec. the whole list is great, though there is something totally fucked up with these genres being so specific | SandwichBubble

11.26.17 | 29 is nice, I dig it. | cylinder
11.27.17 | Sweet | matbla00
11.27.17 | Basically that shoegaze itself is kind of loosely shaped genre, and I have no idea why u would use "dream gaze" as something separate. Maybe fucked up was not the best expression to go with | oWhoadYo
11.27.17 | What about my bands EP? We're in the database
Elemantra - Nature Trash
| matbla00
11.27.17 | I'll give u guys a listen for sure | Aberf

11.27.17 | 29 is not shoegaze lmao | Dewinged
11.27.17 | I added 9 to the database, so happy someone finally dug it. Love this list Aberf, the new Kairon is also incredible. I'd rec you one more shoegaze album: The Stargazer Lillies - Lost. It was released on September. | Aberf
11.27.17 | @snake I'm not even sure what it was, it's just funny that it has shoegaze tag and it sucks so hard. But it's definitely dream poppish.
@dewinged, it's good shit. I like it a lot. Not something revolutionary but definitely extremely well-executed. Will add that. | Snake.
11.27.17 | i'd call it dream jangle (aka whatever the fuck real estate is) for the time-being | GmemberKills

1, 5, and, 19 are all pretty solid as well | RedRightHand
11.27.17 | Secret Shine better than Slowdive, NAHHHHH.
And dead horse one?????
Ugh. | Orb
11.27.17 | List is intriguing. I loved the Slowdive s/t and highly doubt half of these will even come close but I'll peep a bunch anyways. | Aberf
11.27.17 | When will people get that the newest slowdive is alright at most?
EDIT: also, I updated the list a little bit. | JesperL
11.27.17 | how about hundredth - rare tho, aoty for me
also I keep coming back to below the house because I love the album art but it keeps getting more bland on every listen | GmemberKills
11.27.17 | yo you should add 'the Vedlt - The Shocking Fuzz of Your Electric Fur'
another first wave gaze comeback release | Aberf
11.27.17 | I'm not sure if Hundredth - Rare is even shoegaze.
and please add that to the database lol. I don't feel like doing it. | vialsofwet
11.27.17 | a lot of these aren't shoegaze = O | lyzakthellama
11.27.17 | https://spceco.bandcamp.com/album/calm | StarlessCore

skip the ride album (it sucked) | Aberf
11.27.17 | "a lot of these aren't shoegaze = O"
none of these are shoegaze smh. | JesperL
11.28.17 | I'd say the hundredth album is definitely shoegaze, just a more intense/heavy version of the regular stuff. like it ticks most boxes for the genre | sixdegrees
11.28.17 | A fail dreamgaze. | Aberf
11.28.17 | really makes you think | RedRightHand
11.28.17 | Hey adurf, the new Dive is amazing, your taste just sucks :)
