Deathspell Omega Ranked

Fully listened to this band. Some disappointment, some pleasant surprises. All in all, it was worth doing.
1Deathspell Omega
Fas - Ite, Maledicti, In Ignem Aeternum

A significant improvement from the ultimately overrated Si Monvmentvm which has intriguing composition that comes to a boiling and epic climax on the last two tracks, ambient passages that are actually effective and some superb performance on all accounts. Definitely an overlooked album on my part.
2Deathspell Omega
Paracletus

The gap between this and Fas is pretty miniscule as they are both really good.
3Deathspell Omega
The Synarchy of Molten Bones

Not as good as the two above but enjoyable nonetheless.
4Deathspell Omega
Inquisitors of Satan

Far more conventional but also a big improvement from their debut. I've found myself playing this somewhat often.
5Deathspell Omega
Infernal Battles

Somewhat middle of the road with a few bright spots. They were clearly still trying to discover their sound.
6Deathspell Omega
Si Monvmentvm Reqvires Circvmspice

It may have been their breakout release but it was a major disappointment. A lot of filler, ambient sections that meander and go nowhere, composition that is nowhere near as substantive as the work that would follow, etc. It's probably not fair to put this at the bottom below the debut but this was just a bore for me.
