"Confessions"
Now this is a track i can sway back and forth to. I love how the sax was used in the first half almost like a guitar riff. Interesting approach. The second half of the song is where the track became more traditional but a thing of beauty and all the instruments just swirls around you. That sax was clean as hell too.

"Sing a Song"
The only true funk rec given :(. Have no fear though, its a good ‘un. I don’t know much Earth Wind and Fire but i have heard this song before somewhere. I never really payed much attention though so i let it pass. This track is great. The vocals are the real highlight here. That falsetto is godly.

"Is it Because I'm Black?"
Given 3 recs and unsure what to choose, Tacos decided the safest choice had to be the middle one. One of only 2 tracks with a vocal performance and this one was, unexpectedly, a banger. This track had a hint of soul and even a smidge of blues flavor that really made it stand out amongst the crowd.

5 | | Motor City Drum Ensemble Raw Cuts #1 / Raw Cuts #2
Chortles
"Raw Cuts #2"
Chortles takes the electronic route and its super effective. This funky, jazzy, house tune will make you get down on the dance floor and bust a move. Groovy and all around fun, “Raw Cuts #2” was a wonderful choice for this round.

"Tiene Sazor Tiene Sazon"
There’s a beach party, and i guess i was invited! This song is like a tropical getaway. Do i have any idea what they're singing? No. But am i moving my body to the bongos, trumpets and grooves? Heck yeah. Fun pick Friv.

"Widzenie"
This was one of the more unconventional picks this round. “Widzendie” is a very interesting progressive jazz track. It’s really quite beautiful in sound for the first half and outro, but there was a great avant garde esque section that really amps up the intensity too.

"Colors"
Right from those very very first sax notes i knew this track was gonna be sexy. The song is arguably the most spiritual and loving track of this bunch. The addition of vocals made this really stand out among the crowd and were gorgeous. When he hits those high notes its like the world melts around you bruh.

"Feel So Good"
Abe you never cease to amaze me with your knowledge of japanese music. This track had a lot going for it. Great array of instrumentation, lovely female vocals, and a certain air about it that felt genuinely feel-good.

Ovrot
"Piece of Mind"
Okay so uh...this ruled? I don’t really have a way with word when it comes to judging jazz but what i can tell you is that i really liked everything happening here. Jazz keys are weakness of mine and they were used to great effect. Everything felt smooth and sleek in those very fast 9 minutes.

11 | | Guthrie Govan Erotic Cakes
dctarga
"Fives"
A jazz influenced guitar tune. I may not know who this guy is but he can really wield a guitar and play it effortlessly. As you can imagine, im going to compare this to other jazz fusion acts Plini, Sithu Aye and the like. That soft section around 2:50 was where i believe the track was strongest. Not what i expected from an album called “Erotic Cakes.”

12 | | Max Roach, Charles Mingus, and Duke Ellington Money Jungle
Frippertronics
"Money Jungle"
A collaboration for the ages id assume for some jazz fans. Mingus on bass, Ellington on piano, and Roach on drums. This track felt BOUNCY. I think the drums are solid but i believe Mingus and Ellington caught my attention the most here. The piano just feels carefree and the bass was played exceptionally.

13 | | Paul Chambers Bass On Top
FullOfSounds
"Yesterdays"
This track is composed of a man, his bass, and some very subtle piano work. Paul’s sound has this unique roughness about it that gives his instrument some real character. The piano in the background was just low enough to not take away form Paul’s playing but also present enough to give the song more backbone.

14 | | Verneri Pohjola Pekka
Archelirion
"The Dragon of Kätkäväärä"
“The Dragon of Katkavaara” starts subdued and mysterious but gradually becomes more exciting as it goes on. The intermittent sax has a great amount of control and doesn't go all out until later making it feel that much more powerful when it does. The bass was also thicc af, nice plus.

15 | | Wout Gooris Trio and Chisholm/Vann Some Time
Sniff
"Open"
This song sounds like summer. A mixture of sax and piano collide and create one very relaxing and easy to listen to piece of music. The drum technique is very interesting, almost sounds electronic. It really gave the track its own character and chill-ness if you will.
