| 1998 | 1 | | Bruce Dickinson The Chemical Wedding
1998 was a pretty dope year for Maiden fans.
The highlight for me this year is definitely this one - probably Bruce Dickinson's best album. The songs here are all epic, mysterious and occultic. Amazing stuff. | 2 | | Iron Maiden Virtual XI
I'm still debating within myself whether or not it's the strongest Maiden album of the 90's.
Either way, it's definitely the one who shines the brightest. A great, great album. | 3 | | Blind Guardian Nightfall in Middle-Earth
Oh yeah this album is cool too. | 4 | | Liquid Tension Experiment Liquid Tension Experiment
It's got some filler in it, but it's still a fantastic piece of virtuosity and musicianship. | 5 | | Iced Earth Something Wicked This Way Comes
It's definitely not a bad album, but sadly it's not very interesting either. Overall it's still a good experience - it's simple and fun and there are some pretty good parts here and there. It gets better towards the end, especially the last 3 songs, dubbed the "Something Wicked saga". | 6 | | Ayreon Into the Electric Castle
Not a huge Ayreon fan - most of the time their music feels more like an opera with something running in the background, rather than actual songs. I did kinda like this one, it's definitely their best album I've heard so far. Nothing amazing, but it manages to introduce some solid progressive moments before getting lost in its own story. Anyway, not a bad time at all. | |
