A funky plunderphonics/sampling bonanza. This album is for fans of electronic and disco music for sure. It’s an uplifting and super energizing album and may make you wanna bust a groove and just let loose. The album is chock full of chunky bass and funky rhythms but i actually thought some of the slower tracks were the strongest.
Highlights: “Together” and “Miss You”

3 | | Scarface The Diary
Frivolous
“The Diary” is an old school southern gansta rap record and it’s pretty tight. The album doesn't try to be overly complex or anything, it just hits you hard with sick beats and a bountiful amount of “fucks” and “motherfuckers.” The G-Funk instrumentation goes well with Scarface’s slower delivery and i also appreciated the run-time. It’s not over-long, a common downfall of many hip hop albums.
Highlights: “Hand of the Dead Body” and “I Seen a Man Die”

4 | | Gasoline Journey Into Abstract Hip Hop
FullOfSounds
Despite the silly self-referential album name, this actually was quite a journey. The record is one big instrumental hip hop/trip hop extravaganza. “Journey” makes use of a variety of samples and chill beats that brought me a pleasant and enjoyable listening experience but may not have been as exciting as i thought it would be. Unrelated to the music but this has over 6 million views on youtube but a measly 120 votes on rym, kinda odd.
Highlights: “We Don’t Play” and “On The Run”

5 | | DJ Rozwell NONE OF THIS IS REAL
Ovrot
So the story behind this album is pretty weird and there’s actually listening “instructions.” You must listen to the entire album on shuffle and give each track a crossfade of a few seconds. For all i know the shuffle i got was the worst way to hear it but i liked this a lot regardless. The album is comprised of nearly 60 short lived tracks for your fellow plunderphonics loving DnD dorks. Gimmicky and a little directionless? Yes. Entertaining and pretty exciting to listen to? Also yes.

6 | | Digable Planets Blowout Comb
Chortles
This record is exactly what you’d what out of a 90s era jazz rap/east coast hip hop album. Wonderfully produced groovy beats float over some solid raps. I was a fan of the all the unique MCs here, added some needed variety to an already pretty cool boom bap-y hip hop album. Defineitley recommended for fans of this style.
Highlights: “Graffiti” and “Dial 7”
