For those not familiar with Samantha, this album was recorded in the aftermath of her father's unexpected death. To me the glowing feather in her hair symbolizes the light of positivity and love that saw Samantha through the pain.
The midriff bearing, honey chestnut hair blowing butterfly was well on her way to breaking free and ditching her clothes. I like the alternate cover shot too.
This was the first Janet record that didn't feature Miss Jackson flashing her megawatt smile while looking into the camera. The cover may seem distant (to quote Xtina "Don't look at me") but it entices the listener to to pop in the CD (I'm old school) to get to know the real Janet and what she's gone through. A classic.
I've never actually listened to this one, but the cover has intrigued me for years. If I'm not mistaken it was shot during the making of one of her videos.
