10.16.18 | Great read and music pics. Lots of fun movies here. |
JoeTex
10.16.18 | @ the rob zombie comment
what didn't you like about House of 1000 Corpses? |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.16.18 | @Coast - fuck yeah dude m/
@Joe - House of 1,000 Corpses actually had a lot of fun scenes, but the pacing was a bit too much of a mess for me to fully enjoy it. I love individual scenes, though. I am unfortunately one of those people that fucking HATES his interpretation of the Halloween movies and I guess part of me will always have a hard time forgiving him for that, as petty as that sounds ahah |
SymbolicInTime
10.16.18 | Came here just to make sure Evil Dead 2 was on the list |
JoeTex
10.16.18 | ya agreed on those halloween duds. Enjoyed House of 1000. Spaulding m/ |
Thalassic
10.16.18 | The Devil's Rejects rules, agreed
Great soundtrack |
Dettlaff
10.16.18 | Aliens is more like sci-fi action than horror. I must be the only person alive who thinks Nightmare on Elm St and Halloween are really bad nowadays. |
artiswar
10.16.18 | New Nightmare is so bad, Wes Craven's an overrated hack who made like 2 good movies. And how anyone can like anything made by Rob Zombie is beyond me man. Other than that good list, agreed on most of your points. |
ZombieToyDuck
10.16.18 | 1 is probably the best sequel ever agreed! |
ZombieToyDuck
10.16.18 | I walked into not knowing what goes on and mannnn was it a treat |
ZombieToyDuck
10.16.18 | I also love the hand scene |

10.16.18 | halloween 2 fucking sucks and its inclusion outs you as a fraud and an idiot |

10.16.18 | as does the exclusion of halloween 4 |

10.16.18 | Aliens is easily my fav sequel |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.16.18 | Thrust, I love you baby
Zombie/Wonder- agreed hard man, evil dead is the truth m/
Artiswar- new nightmare actually took me a bit to get into. I didn’t like it for years and didn’t get the hype but after going through that series multiple times it just grew on me and now I think it’s one of the scariest/smartest horror sequels ever
Oltna- lmao
Academy- Halloween 2 and 4 are pretty close for me tbh. 2 is definitely not garbage, but yeah I mean that and 4 was a toss up. 5,6, resurrection can all eat my ass. Can’t fucking wait for Thursday to see the new one, I have high hopes |
XingKing
10.16.18 | Came here just to make sure Evil Dead 2 was NUMBAAA ONEE!! on the list. Am pleased |
artiswar
10.16.18 | You watched the Nightmare series multiple times? Damn dude, I can’t imagine rewatching some of those sequels, after 3 it gets really fucking bad. The weird thing is the Nightmare premise lends itself to wild creative ideas yet they came up with… that… And I really hate New Nightmare. I expected it to be a classic and it’s just so half-baked. The gimmick behind it could have really payed off but the script was bad and the kills/scares were weak, Freddy wasn’t scary. There was no leg to stand on. At least he didn’t talk this time, that’s the one good thing I’ll say about it. |
artiswar
10.16.18 | I guess it wasn't worse than karate boyfriend or the power glove. |
budgie
10.16.18 | fright night part II, night of the demons II, demons II
return of the living dead II i remember being pretty great
scream 4 is fantastic |
Deathconscious
10.16.18 | i am so behind on the classics. gonna watch 28 Days Later tonight. |
Divaman
10.16.18 | I can't complain. I love most of these, and #1 is clearly #1. Bruce Campbell is my favorite B-movie actor of all time.
Ever see him in "Bubba Ho-Tep"? |
artiswar
10.16.18 | @Adolf That movie is ridiculously good. Never got around to watching the sequel, maybe I should. |
budgie
10.16.18 | 28 weeks later is entertaining as fuck, but not as artsy and impressive and memorable as the first i suppose
still 28 weeks later is totally fun |
artiswar
10.16.18 | dude, the scene with Godspeed in the original... I nearly died. |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.16.18 | @art- aha yeah man, I have the blu-Ray collection and back in the day I had the vhs collection and tbh I didn’t realize HOW shitty some of those nightmare sequels were til I got older because I grew up with them - 6 is a fucking abomination. And I get your complains with new nightmare - tbh I wish the body count was higher and Freddy looks a bit rubbery but other than that I really love it
Budgie - I haven’t seen most of those sequels! Fuck yeah, more movies to watch
Divaman - bubba ho tep is the truth, my dude m/. Met Bruce campbell last year, he’s so fucking hilarious |
artiswar
10.16.18 | The one where they recast Patricia Arquette was so bad, that final fight scene where the main chick fights Freddy is the cringiest, most ridiculous set-piece ever. How did that ever pass QC. And the dream baby one lmao. The horror bubble was so massive in the 80's that they just got away with anything. |
Divaman
10.16.18 | That is the one where Freddy turns that one girl who's afraid of bugs into a giant cockroach, though. That was kinda fun.
Another guilty pleasure -- The Friday the 13th movie with Jason in space (basically battling the cast of the TV show "Andromeda"). |
artiswar
10.16.18 | Jason X is high-art |
Larkinhill
10.16.18 | Damn good picks man. Love that you included New Nightmare.
I’m a huge horror movie buff myself. How did you feel about the Evil Dead remake? Damn man I love that movie so much. |
artiswar
10.16.18 | I really dug that one, it's one of the few horror remakes that justifies its existence. |
Larkinhill
10.17.18 | Hell yeah it’s pretty awesome. The addiction/withdrawal aspect was pretty damn brilliant and added a sense of unease/dread. |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.17.18 | I fucking loved the remake, dude. There are some things I would have changed (make their eyes white, focus more on the evil taking over the woods, explain how Mia was fine after she got resurrected, don’t show us what’s gonna happen in the book right before it happens) but overall it was a VERY solid remake with great practical effects and gore - I have a crush on the actress who plays Mia haha |
artiswar
10.17.18 | The vine-rape scene is like seared into my retinas. The evil chick almost looks as scary as Michael Jackson, it's really disturbing. |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.17.18 | Call me sick, but tbh that was another complaint of mine. The tee rape in the original frightened me and was an actual rape, in the remake it was just a slithery branch that hopped up inside her and that was it, it was like a 5 second scene |
artiswar
10.17.18 | That whole scene blew me away. It was shot so well and it looked so damn good. It gave me the fucking willies truth be told. |
Larkinhill
10.17.18 | I mean goddamn it was just all so brutal, dark, scary but fun at the same time. I’ve been through withdrawal and you feel this all encompassing dread/anxiety/depression where everything is fucked, so that aspect really added to the horror for me.
|
Larkinhill
10.17.18 | Yeah the director Fede Alveraz is def one to watch. Don’t Breathe was awesome too. The only reason I’m looking forward to the Dragon Tattoo sequel is because of him. |
Larkinhill
10.17.18 | Really looking forward to the Suspiria remake man. |
artiswar
10.17.18 | Don't Breathe impressed me, didn't know it was the same director but it makes sense. I hope Susperia remake is on-point because the original didn't do it for me at all and I think there's great potential there. The first act of that movie is amazing and unique stylistically. Never watched the American Dragon Tattoo movies, just the Swedish ones and they were hot fucking garbage other than the first one which was brilliant. |
budgie
10.17.18 | jane levy lucca, she's adorable in this movie called uh. office uprising. mindless fun horror comedy |
Deathconscious
10.17.18 | ha, i didnt know Brendan Gleeson was in 28 Days Later, awesome. love that dude. |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.17.18 | Don’t breathe was fucking AWESOME - didn’t know Fede was doing the dragon tattoo sequel, that should rule
I’ve been looking forward to suspiria forever, hopefully those mixed reviews are bullshit. I’m a huge Argento fan, seeing Goblin perform all of Suspiria live at the end of November |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.17.18 | Budgie, gotta see that - I’ll see anything with her ahah |
artiswar
10.17.18 | I don't know dick about Argento, where should I start? If the Don't Breathe guy is doing Catching Fire then it's in good hands. That film had so much potential but it was basically a bad TV movie. |
TheSpaceMan
10.17.18 | aliens fckn owns |
artiswar
10.17.18 | it's not horror though, it's a buddy comedy |
TheSpaceMan
10.17.18 | aliens is a sequel to a horror movie so it fits the bill |
artiswar
10.17.18 | that is true but youtube is down, I can't watch the Vasquez death scene, the zombie apocalypse is happening, I'm freaking out, it's every man for himself now. Shield your junk! |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.17.18 | @art - WATCH DEEP RED RIGHT NOW KTHANKS |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.17.18 | Seriously deep red is one of my all time favorites |
blastOFFitsPARTYtime
10.17.18 | Dead Snow 2 is one of my favourite things ever.
|
Larkinhill
10.17.18 | David Fincher’s Dragon Tattoo is amazing man, def give it a Glimpse. |
Larkinhill
10.17.18 | I love the original Suspiria.
A buddy of mine who works at Paramount (I’m a screenwriter and live in LA) saw it a month or two back and said it’s very very good. 3 hours, very bizarre, atmospheric and unsettling. Can’t wait. |
elliootsmeuth
10.17.18 | I was sad to not see Evil Dead 2 as I was scrolling... Until I saw its rightful place at #1 |
artiswar
10.17.18 | Larkin have you seen Coherence? Because I want to murder you and take over your life. Link me your stuff. |
budgie
10.17.18 | coherence is probably the best mindfuck horror out there, with resolution right under |
artiswar
10.17.18 | It's sooooo gooooooddddddd. Low budget horror at it's best for sure. |
artiswar
10.17.18 | We're NOT splitting up we're just gonna go in 2 separate groups. |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.17.18 | Haven't seen coherence, might download that now |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.17.18 | Sources are telling me that this is not a horror film? |
artiswar
10.17.18 | it's a horror film. |
budgie
10.17.18 | it's a horror film. it's also on shudder anyway |
Casavir
10.17.18 | Yaay, your account isn't banned. m/ |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.17.18 | Alright just started it
Casavir - Why would I be banned, bb? |
wham49
10.17.18 | Dude gotta love F13 2, first Jason movie, very good kills, the machette to the face of the wheelchair guy, who was waitign to get some, alone puts it in the top 2. One of the best ending chase scenes |
Casavir
10.17.18 | Was talking to budgie, Lucca. |
budgie
10.17.18 | on this site, it was just temp banned, i assumed it was perma banned bc my other acc was
|
artiswar
10.17.18 | you actually watched it Lucca? please tell me you didn't check out in the first act |
Rowan5215
10.17.18 | Dream Warriors is so tight and that first kill is the best in the whole franchise
(also arguably the only Freddy film without unanimously awful acting) |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.17.18 | @art - just saw it man, it was really great! I might have to watch it again because I feel like I missed a few things, but it was definitely a mind fuck with surprisingly good acting for a movie that probably cost like $25 to make lol
@Casavir - Oh
@wham - Yeahhhh, that kill is fucking amazing and all but I actually don't love the second one AS much as some other fans, although I will say it is one of the better ones in the series with a few standout scenes. Definitely better than part 1.
@Rowan - AGREED HARD |
MO
10.17.18 | great list dude. agree with 5, so criminally underrated
1 is 1 obvs |
BigBlob
10.17.18 | Hellraiser series are so fking annoying. they could have been so much better. that scene in Hellraiser 1 when the cenobites show up in the hospital is one of the greatest moments in horror. shame the rest of the film is pretty meh |
BigPleb
10.17.18 | Psycho 2 is actually good??? |
BigBlob
10.17.18 | wolf creek 2 is actually really solid. I actually like it over the first |
Clumseee
10.17.18 | CREEP 2 ya num nuts. |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.17.18 | @MO - m/ thanks man
@BigBlob - agreed fucking hard, dude. Awesome concept, so much potential and some of the worst movies I have ever seen. Very disappointing. Haven't seen Wolf Creek 2 but I loved the first one.
@Pleb - Psycho 2 is WEIRDLY good. Nowhere near the original, but really, what is? Once you get over that no one is Hitchcok, I think you'll really enjoy it. I went into it expecting to hate it tbh
And oh yeah, Creep 2 is awesome - I don't know if I'd put it here though because I'm probably not going to revisit that all too much tbh |
Larkinhill
10.17.18 | Yeah can confirm — Psycho 2 is actually pretty solid. |
Divaman
10.17.18 | Oh, the first Alien vs. Predator film was a lot of fun, also. |
iglu
10.17.18 | I liked jeepers creepers 2 even tho it was made by a child molester |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.17.18 | All alien films rated R, all predator films R, coming together of these two bloodthirsty villains...pg13 lolll
It was FINE. Better than some of the alien sequels, better than the new predator but it’s too bloodless and cheesy for me to turn off my brain and have fun with it like I do with Freddy vs Jason but that’s just a personal thing. And no, gore doesn’t make a movie better but for a versus movie of two horror icons...yeah, it kinda does |
Divaman
10.17.18 | Yeah, I was able to turn my brain right off and enjoy it. (But then again, it's rarely on in the first place.) |
artiswar
10.17.18 | since you watched Coherence i def have to watch Deep Red now |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.17.18 | yessssssss art, yessssss |
artiswar
10.17.18 | I might get to it today, if not then tomorrow for sure |
artiswar
10.17.18 | I actually am really excited for the new Susperia cause that movie didn't fully work for me but I love Argento's aesthetics. |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.17.18 | Suspiria took me many years to fully appreciate - I didn’t love it the first few times but it kept appearing in my life and eventually I came to love it
Curious about the remake, I hope it rules |
klap
10.18.18 | actually preferred the second, widely lambasted AVP to the bloodless first one, just because it was so balls-out ridiculous (um, the scene with the alien queen in the maternity ward) and absurdly gory that i had to respect it a bit |
artiswar
10.19.18 | Deep Red was quite cool but not really my thing. Still glad I watched it, thanks for the recommend Lucca. The music was insane man but I sort of saw everything coming a mile away. It reminded me of Manhunter, how there's just these long sequences with no dialogue and a focus on music. It mostly made me want to rewatch Suspiria which I'm gonna do soon.
Also rewatched Coherence because it's been a few years, and holy, it was even better on rewatch. Absolutely genius and imo one of the scariest films ever made. It seriously freaked me out so bad. |
budgie
10.19.18 | that spurs me.. i've been meaning to rewatch coherence for a while now
have you seen resolution |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.19.18 | @klap - AVP 1 was bloodless but it at least made some coherent sense. I was dying for some gore in that movie, considering the two R rated characters but to be honest after seeing Requiem I just missed a plot that wasn't total dogshit but to each their own.
@art - No problem my man, I'm sorry it wasn't your thing dude. I personally love the ever loving fuck out of that movie though ahah, one of my favorite horror films. Oh, well.
And yeah I gotta watch Coherence again. Even while it was on I was just thinking "man, this is gonna be better on repeated viewings"
@budgie- Yeah man, Resolution is solid - so is The Endless |
artiswar
10.19.18 | I dug Deep Red for sure, it just didn't blow me away like I was hoping it would is all. |
budgie
10.19.18 | the endless was pretty sweet yeah. Triangle is always lumped in with this subcategory but i feel like i'm the one guy who didn't care for it
i tried watching Slenderman last night but ugh i don't know what i was expecting, decided to sleep halfway in. not enough stupid teens dying, i guess |
artiswar
10.19.18 | Haven't heard of Resolution or Endless, but if they're anything like Coherence I will give them a look. Triangle was fucking awesome, haven't watched that since it came out. I just remember it having the fastest escalation ever lol. |
klap
10.20.18 | i agree that if they had made AVP 1 a hard R it would've been mighty fine |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.20.18 | the sun is gay |
neekafat
10.20.18 | Solid list, 10 sucks tho |
budgie
10.20.18 | ya guys this dude went to film school so 10 sucks |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.20.18 | 10 is a hell of a fun time, but it's not an amazing movie or anything so I totally understand why you guys wouldn't dig it.
@EZLN - I never said it was a bad thing, just pointing out some scientific facts about the sun. |
StrikeOfTheBeast
10.20.18 | 1 is 1 and good call on 5 and 13. |
Middle18
10.24.18 | The endless is one the best films of the years. I urge everyone to check it out |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.24.18 | Endless rules but I dunno if it's one of my favorites tbh. I think rotten tomatoes overrated it. |
artiswar
10.24.18 | Lucca you should watch Sleep Tight. It's a really twisted Spanish film. |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.24.18 | Haven't heard of it, but I'll check it out tonight man. m/ |
artiswar
10.24.18 | suhweeet |
Minushuman24
10.24.18 | The best ever horror movie sequel is Pumpkinhead: Blood Wings |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.24.18 | Haven't seen that one |
Insurrection
10.24.18 | damn dude we have like the same taste in horror movies lol great list. some other sequels i enjoyed:
wrong turn 2
wolf creek 2
the conjuring 2
silence of the lambs
the exorcist 3
[rec] 2
final destination 5 |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.24.18 | Oh yeah, I didn't even consider Silence off the Lambs. Conjuring 2, Exorcist 3, rec 2 all rule. Haven't seen the rest. Great taste, man m/ |
gryndstone
10.24.18 | The first Elm Street movies are all great in their own way, yes even 2 |
artiswar
10.24.18 | 2 is so freaking weird but awesome |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.24.18 | Anything is better than 6 |
Minushuman24
10.24.18 | Nightmare 2 is lowkey great |
DarkSideOfLucca
10.26.18 | I just rewatched Friday 6 and realized I'm a goddamn idiot for putting Friday 4 here instead. Friday 6 is by far the best Friday sequel.
Nightmare 2 is actually cool, but it fucks with the lore so much. Granted, before a lot of it was set in stone, but still it bothers me. |
artiswar
10.26.18 | you were supposed to watch Sleep Tight not Friday The 13th, douche |
