25 Years of Concerts (1995 to Now)
When I was young, my Parents took me to see two concerts that I can recall. These concerts were for the bands Alabama and Chicago, at the Six Flags outdoor amphitheater. But i didn't start going to concerts on my own until 1995, when I started College. I hit concerts hard from 1995 to 2012, took a 6 year break, and rekindled concert attendance in 2018. The list below provides a summary of concerts I have attended over these years. |
1 | | KMFDM Nihil
10/26/1995 at the Masquerade. Also featured God Lives Underwater and the Genitorturers. Will never forget the Genitorturer's set and show. |
2 | | The Presidents of the United States of America The Presidents of the United States of America
11/20/1995 at the Masquerade. I recall little from this show, other than the guitarists playing each with only three strings. |
3 | | Collective Soul Collective Soul
2/9/1996 at The Fox. The 99X Chinese New Year Concert. Was actually there for the Toadies, who were openers with Everclear and the Bodeans. I absolutely despised the Bodeans. |
4 | | Foo Fighters Foo Fighters
4/10/1996 at the Masquerade Music Park. That Dog opened. The Foos played an impressive set, with songs off of their first, self-titled album. |
5 | | Type O Negative October Rust
10/25/1996 at the Masquerade. One of my friends in the dorm introduced me to Type O. I went with him to two shows, this and one earlier when they were touring on Bloody Kisses. I will never forget Peter Steele (R.I.P.) hunched dominantly over his bass guitar. Dude was huge. I recall that he played his bass as if it was a guitar, rumbling bar chords and all. |
6 | | God Lives Underwater Empty
2/27/1998 at the Cotton Club. I remember that both David Reilly and Jeff Turzo were dreadlocked. The industrial samples were overpowering and awesome! |
7 | | Stuck Mojo Pigwalk
3/6/1998 at the Masquerade. Manhole, and incredible rap-metal act, opened, if I recall correctly. Stuck Mojo with Bonz destroyed. People say that Pantera shows were brutal...I believe it, but Stuck Mojo was as well. |
8 | | Incubus (USA-CA) Enjoy Incubus
3/30/1998 at the Cotton Club. This was one of may favorite concerts of all time. Brandon Boyd (dreadlocked) dominated the crowd with his dynamic singing style, and playing of the Digeridoo and bongo drums. This was with their first DJ, DJ Lyfe, who was a master of the turntables. |
9 | | Limp Bizkit Three Dollar Bill Y'all
April 1998 at the Roxy Theatre. A great show for a great album. The set was decorated in camo netting. Fred Durst was at the top of his game, both rapping and screaming. |
10 | | Soulfly Soulfly
5/26/1998 at the Masquerade. Hed (p.e.) and Snot opened. The show from Snot was one of the best, energetic shows I ever saw. Lynn Strait could control the crowd like none other. Hed (p.e.) was awesome, as usual. At the time, I was not that much into Soulfly...but it was a great show as well, with Max playing some vintage Sepultura tracks. |
11 | | Stabbing Westward Darkest Days
7/9/1998 at the Masquerade. God Lives Underwater opened, playing songs off "Life in the So-Called Space Age", and stole the show. Stabbing Westward was good, but they were on their way down. |
12 | | Incubus (USA-CA) S.C.I.E.N.C.E.
10/1/1998 at the Cotton Club. Another great Incubus show. Dial 7 opened, playing a heavy dropped-D version of rap metal. |
13 | | Less Than Jake Losing Streak
10/2/1998 at the Masquerade. I always thought that Less than Jake was the perfect blend of punk and ska. This was a great show. Blink 182 opened and provided much comic relief, with dirty jokes coming from both Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge. |
14 | | Stuck Mojo Rising
3/6/1999 at the Masquerade. Nothingface opened. Stuck Mojo crushed, as always. I remember that this was about when Stuck Mojo began a strong relationship with professional wrestling. |
15 | | Kid Rock Devil Without a Cause
5/5/1999. Music Midtown. I had a huge amount of respect for Kid Rock after this show, as (in addition to rocking the mic) he deftly played every instrument on-stage. Also got to see Hole. |
16 | | System of a Down System of a Down
5/29/1999. Ozzfest 1999 at the HiFi Buys Amphitheatre. Unfortunately had to leave early, due to an injury, but did also catch Drain STH and Puya. |
17 | | Shootyz Groove High Definition
7/21/1999 at the Cotton Club. |
18 | | Mr. Bungle California
2/27/2000. Sno-Core Tour at the Tabernacle. Openers included Incubus and System of a Down. Great shows by all. |
19 | | Korn Issues
4/13/2000 at Philips Arena. |
20 | | Radiohead Amnesiac
7/30/2001 at Stone Mountain Park. Played heavily off of Kid A and Amnesiac, under the infamous Stone Mountain. An incredible show. |
21 | | 311 From Chaos
9/22/2001. 99X Big Day Out at HiFi Buys Amphitheater. Godsmack also headlined. Openers included Collective Soul, Sevendust, Adema, Rehab, Boy Hits Car, and Tenacious D. |
22 | | Tool Lateralus
10/12/2001 at Philips Arena. An incredible show, with heavy emphasis on Lateralus material. They played Disposition/Reflection/Triad in full. Disappointing though, no songs off of Undertow. |
23 | | The Coup Party Music
4/11/2002 at Center Stage. X-ecutioners opened. A great show, really dug The Coup. |
24 | | Rob Zombie The Sinister Urge
4/14/2002 at the Tabernacle. |
25 | | Mudvayne L.D. 50
11/6/2002 at the Masquerade. Mudvayne was in full face paint. An incredible show with likely their best material. Hed(p.e.) opened, if I recall correctly. |
26 | | Metallica St. Anger
7/11/2003 at Turner Field. Openers included Deftones, Linkin Park, and Limp Bizkit. Unfortunately, the sound was terrible for the Deftones. The audience for Metallica was split into two groups: one group that only sang to their older songs (pre Black Album); and another that sang to the newer songs (Black Album and beyond). Me, I sang to both. |
27 | | Adema Unstable
8/15/2003 at the Masquerade. |
28 | | Ozzy Osbourne Down to Earth
8/26/2003. Ozzfest 2003 at HiFi Buys Amphitheater. Openers included Korn, Marilyn Manson, Disturbed, Chevelle, and Shadows Fall |
29 | | Slipknot Iowa
4/3/2004 at the Tabernacle. Openers included Fear Factory and Chimaira. At the time, i was not a huge Slipknot fan (I was there more for Fear Factory). Although I loved Slipknot's self-titled album, Iowa was a bit extreme. But after this show, I really dug Iowa. |
30 | | A Perfect Circle Thirteenth Step
5/15/2004 at The Arena at Gwinnett Center. Really have no memory of this concert, but have my ticket stub! |
31 | | Linkin Park Meteora
8/13/2004. Project Revolution at the HiFi Buys Amphitheater. Unbelievably, Korn opened for Linkin Park. |
32 | | Black Sabbath Reunion
9/2/2004. Ozzfest 2004 at the Ford Amphitheater. Black Sabbath and Judas Priest headlined. Openers included Slipknot, Devil Driver, Lacuna Coil, Superjoint Ritual, Black Label Society, and Atreyu. One hell of a show. Slipknot headlined second stage and ripped through a set highly focused on Vol. 3. By this time, I was truly a maggot, and newer songs like "The Blister Exits" and "Pulse of the Maggots" destroyed. I was really impressed by Lacuna Coil, buying two albums of theirs. Listened to them all the way back from Tampa to Atlanta. |
33 | | Nine Inch Nails With Teeth
5/21/2005 at the Tabernacle. Dresden Dolls opened |
34 | | Sugar Ray In The Pursuit Of Leisure
6/22/2005 at Summerfest in Milwaukee. I also saw Black Tide there...could not believe that some so young could shred on their guitars so deftly. |
35 | | Rob Zombie Educated Horses
3/22/2006 at the Tabernacle. Bullet for My Valentine opened. |
36 | | Korn See You on the Other Side
7/30/2006. Family Values Tour at the HiFi Buys Amphitheater. Openers included Deftones, Stonesour, and Flyleaf. |
37 | | Hydrovibe Killer Inside
4/7/2007 at Richmond Rocks. I used to live close to a heavy metal club...would sleep with my windows down and be serenaded. One night, from my apartment, I heard a strong female-fronted band. Ran down to check out this band - a great show. |
38 | | Sevendust Alpha
4/24/2007 at the Norva. To me, Alpha was the pinnacle and rebirth of Sevendust. An incredible album and awesome show. |
39 | | Static-X Cannibal
4/27/2007 at the Norva. Took my wife with me to this show. She was a newbie and fearful of the pit, thus I stood in the back the whole time. A great show by Wayne Static (R.I.P.) and crew. |
40 | | Tool 10,000 Days
6/7/2007 at Richmond Coliseum. A great show, as always. Kicked it off with Jambi, which is one of my favorite of their songs. |
41 | | Sevendust Retrospective 2
7/27/2007 at Toads Place. Diecast opened. |
42 | | Korn Untitled
7/28/2007. Family Values Tour at Nissan Pavilion. Evanescence and Trivium opened. An unheard of band, Five Finger Death Punch, played the second stage...loved what I heard. |
43 | | Rob Zombie Zombie Live
1/7/2008 at Toad's Place. Actually had tinnitus for a week, thanks to John 5...never went to a show without ear plugs afterwards. In This Moment opened, playing heavily off their metal-core Beautiful Tragedy album. |
44 | | Stone Temple Pilots Stone Temple Pilots
7/5/2008. Summerfest at Marcus Amphitheater. |
45 | | Nightwish Dark Passion Play
5/14/2009 at the Masquerade. Great interplay between Annette Olson and Marco Hietala. Awesome show with, to me, their greatest lineup. |
46 | | Megadeth Endgame
3/21/2010 at the Tabernacle. |
47 | | Fear Factory Mechanize
4/1/2010 at the Masquerade. Although I preferred the Archetype/Transgression years, this was a great show. I will never forget them playing "Final Exit". |
48 | | Sevendust Cold Day Memory
10/3/2010. Project 9-6-1 Family Reunion at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. Openers included Shinedown and Bullet for my Valentine. Buckcherry was the actual headliner, but they rightly suck. |
49 | | Powerman 5000 Somewhere On The Other Side Of Nowhere
11/3/2010 at the Masquerade. In Heaven. |
50 | | Black Tide Post Mortem
11/3/2010 at the Masquerade. In Purgatory. About 5 to 10 people there, and the band was shoved in a corner. There should have been more, as this band was great. |
51 | | Alice in Chains Black Gives Way to Blue
2/25/2010 at the Tabernacle. |
52 | | A Perfect Circle eMOTIVe
July 2011 at the Tabernacle. A bit pf a disappointing show, as they played heavily from Emotive (not their best work). Although formerly one of my favorite bands, I came out of this show rather deflated. |
53 | | Tool 10,000 Days
2/8/2012 at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. An incredible headtrip. My most vivid memory is how incredible the backdrop during "Forty Six & 2" was. About had an out of body experience right there. |
54 | | Foo Fighters Concrete and Gold
4/28/2018 at Georgia State Stadium. A great show, but I feel they are past their prime. |
55 | | John Garcia John Garcia and the Band of Gold
11/29/2018 at the Vinyl. Nick Oliveri, Death in Pretty Wrapping, and Luna Sol opened. An incredible, once-in-a-lifetime show. See my 2/27/2019 writeup/list for this concert. |
56 | | Nine Inch Nails Bad Witch
11/30/2018 at the Joint. Jesus and Mary Chain opened. Nine Inch Nails was a bit formulaic, with (unfortunately) a lot of emphasis on Bad Witch material. |
