1 | | Ariana Grande Dangerous Woman
Done
Dangerous Woman is a solid album although I wish it stopped at track 7. Her other albums have jams sprinkled all over but are far less consistent.

Although I discovered now that the Complete version of her s/t has some good additional tracks on it so gotta check that out.
She has super jams and has many ok songs, but like Ariana she is yet to make a consistently good record - edit: last album was bonkers, there it is.

Her discog is quite respectable. She ventured into a lot of genres and stayed relevant over many, many years. She's however missing a magnum opus to make her discog shine - bar a handful unique and creative tracks, most of her records are simply ok and didn't mark me much.

4 | | Britney Spears Oops!...I Did It Again
Done.
It's like she took five albums to find her direction while occasionally dropping an accidental banger, found it on Circus, and then threw it to go make generic bland dance music. On her three last albums she often feels like a guest vocalist on somebody else's track more than lead artist. The last one did improve, but it remains very slight, and Circus will probably remain her magnum opus by the looks of it. I have to say she is quite a consistent album maker, and while she rarely is marking, she also scarcely annoys, unlike a lot of her fellow superstars here.

She is quite consistent and all her records have at least a couple jams. Unlike a lot of people I think Goddess is her weakest, she is exploring and maturing still, and I appreciate her desire to create a unique style - especially with III.

Most of her discog is made of poorly constructed albums, with occasional jams sprinkled over a lot of annoying and boring material. Fewer jams than I expected too, I was hoping for better. Her last album is very strong however (before track 9) and comes as a bit of a surprise - hopefully it hints at her future direction?

Not as bad as I expected, but also not great. She is kind of the epitome of generic 00s-10s pop, and her overwhelming success kind of hurts her catalogue for me as it all feels so so generic. I didn't hate country-era Taylor but it really isn't my cuppa, and after that her pop career really has too few bangers spread too thin, except on 1989 which is a fun record all in all. On her last two records she's been less pop, less explosive, and more introspective, but I don't think it really works.

I'll have to rejam Emotions per dedex's rec, but yeah none of her albums really resonated with me. Everything before Dedicated has lots of annoying moments that counterbalance the bops, and the last one is more consistent but often falls flat and fails at being catchy - the end is cool though. Have to rejam Dedicated and Emotions to see which one I like best.

A frustrating band that has a few playlist worthy tracks, but that fails to really fully get out of its shell. The prod is tame, the compositions are tame, and it feels like they are trying to do funk pop but without fully committing to the kitsch. The result is often half baked. Now that applies only to the EPs, as the LP really is the first EP plus one or two more worthwhile tracks and then filler.

Honestly I think she's underrated. I don't care much for lyrics typically, which helps bcs I think hers may be cringe-inducing for a lot of people. But musically she's really fun, and her sound can show lots of depth on some of her best tracks allying pop, RnB, rapped sections, and other more minor influences. The debut EP is fun, and while a bit erratic Amala explores many directions and shows a rich, exciting sound, that sadly she mostly stripped away from Hot Pink. I hope she switches back to more of a pop/rnb direction with her next releases. I was maybe a bit too kind to her first two records with my ratings because I think the average is just too too low. Edit: She kinda did find a good style on Planet Her, but there are still too many directions attempted at once and not enough of her psychedelic colours to make it a truly grand record.
