07.21.19 | Maybe I should vote for Evership, just so it gets one vote ;-) | MrSirLordGentleman
07.21.19 | I'll wait a bit to vote since now I must check Evership haha | SharkTooth
07.21.19 | Evership is a fine record but Wobbler is a top tier prog record
and in the end Evership simply doesn't hold a candle to it | MrSirLordGentleman
07.21.19 | I really love Wobbler, that's why I nominated it. But if there's a flaw on it for me is the fact that lacks tons of identity and, when you compare it to true old school prog records, it also lacks those classic and memorable moments throughout its runtime
By this I mean that if Evership manages to create a sound of its own, I might vote for it. Will have to wait for it | SharkTooth
07.21.19 | okay I listened to the first 2 again
I'm voting for Unreal City | Papa Universe
07.21.19 | Now hold on, lemme think about this. | Friday13th
07.21.19 | Pulsar: Zig, Friday, Papa

07.21.19 | Where the hell Papa did vote in this thread??? I only see two replies from him, and he didn't vote into these... | Friday13th
07.21.19 | Papa, why u edit your comment lol | Papa Universe
07.21.19 | Cause I still need to think. I put on Pulsar on again as I was writing it and realised that I don't know, if it's actually better. | tmthycnnlly
07.21.19 | 1 & 4 for me | Friday13th
07.21.19 | Pulsar: Zig, Friday, tmthy
Unreal City: Twig, Sharktooth
Wobbler: Zig, Twig, Friday, Sharktooth
Evership: tmthy | Papa Universe
07.21.19 | fuck it, Pulsar and Wobbler | Papa Universe
07.21.19 | as much as I liked Evership, Wobbler just won everything | Jethro42
07.21.19 | Battle is unequal for sure.
I'm going for 2 and 3 which is going to give some life to Unreal City, I hope so.
| Friday13th
07.22.19 | Pulsar: Zig, Friday, tmthy, Papa
Unreal City: Twig, Sharktooth, Jethro
Wobbler: Zig, Twig, Friday, Sharktooth, Papa, Jethro
Evership: tmthy | Divaman
07.22.19 | The first matchup might have been the toughest vote I've ever taken in one of these prog contests. I kept listening and changing my mind, depending on which one I listened to last.
But my vote is Unreal City (by the slightest edge) and Wobbler. | TheNotrap
07.22.19 | Unreal City & Wobbler | hansoloshotfirst
07.22.19 | 1 and 3 | e210013
07.22.19 | Jethro, my friend. You said this in the Tourney Preliminary:
"Yeah e21,...yours is more light and atmospheric than mine...Mine is more rock n roll than yours let say it...Id be afraid to face you in the first round haha".
So, finally we have our "confrontation", haha. And we can be very happy because we are lucky ones due to our knights reached this stage. The rivals of our knights were very good and we are very lucky to be here.
About this round, I must say three things:
First, I'm perfectly confortable with these four albums because all of them belong to my favourite sub-genre of prog, the symphonic prog style. So, I'm like a fish in the water.
Second, I think both albums of the first confrontation are equally good. You know that I've deep feelings about "Hallowen". I know the album since it was released and I had the luck to be in one of the shows of the world live tour of the album. Still, I think "La Crudelta Di Aprile" is an amazing album. You know that I'm a great fan of RPI. I rated it with 4.0, but I'm sure that it can grow up more on me and to be a 4.5. So, I'm very confortable to accept perfectly well the final result of this confrontation. To be honest, I'll be happy whatever will be the final result.
Third, I'm very sad about "Evership II". It's an excellent album but had a huge bad luck, to be in confrontation with "From Silence to Somewhere". Whatever the album, the result would probably be the same. It's almost impossible to defeat it. It will be, almost certainly, the winner of this tourney. Still, I continue thinking that "Evership II", is really an excellent album, one of the best here.
I'll give my decision, probably tomorrow. | Friday13th
07.22.19 | Pulsar: Zig, Friday, tmthy, Papa, hansolo
Unreal City: Twig, Sharktooth, Jethro, Divaman, Notrap
Wobbler: Zig, Twig, Friday, Sharktooth, Papa, Jethro, Divaman, Notrap, hansolo
Evership: tmthy | Jethro42
07.22.19 | Yeah yeah, e21, you're right, I didn't remember it, but really I told you about my fear to be matched against you in the very first round... And here we are, one against the other, and neck to neck. And you're right, it's a privilege to reach the semi-final level, and I will be happy too, no matter the final result.
We all have our little idea on which entry is gonna win the tourney, but let's go gang! | e210013
07.22.19 | Absolutely, but everything points to Wobbler no matter what happens with our two albums. But we'll see it. | Divaman
07.23.19 | I'd say Wobbler is the Goliath. But David still has a slingshot in his back pocket. Right now, I'm not 100% sure which way I'd go with Wobbler against either of these two fine albums. Might vote for Wobbler, but I'd need at least another listen. | e210013
07.23.19 | Without surprises, my choices are:
1 and 3. | Friday13th
07.23.19 | Pulsar: Zig, Friday, tmthy, Papa, hansolo, e21
Unreal City: Twig, Sharktooth, Jethro, Divaman, Notrap
Wobbler: Zig, Twig, Friday, Sharktooth, Papa, Jethro, Divaman, Notrap, hansolo, e21
Evership: tmthy | MrSirLordGentleman
07.23.19 | I'll go with Unreal City and Wobbler
though I gotta admit I really liked Evership's spacey atmosphere | Friday13th
07.23.19 | Pulsar: Zig, Friday, tmthy, Papa, hansolo, e21
Unreal City: Twig, Sharktooth, Jethro, Divaman, Notrap, Gentleman
Wobbler: Zig, Twig, Friday, Sharktooth, Papa, Jethro, Divaman, Notrap, hansolo, e21, Gentleman
Evership: tmthy | Friday13th
07.23.19 | Pulsar and Unreal City are 6-6! Another nail-biter! | wham49
07.23.19 | 1 for sure, but the other match up is hard like them both the same way | Friday13th
07.23.19 | Pulsar: Zig, Friday, tmthy, Papa, hansolo, e21, wham
Unreal City: Twig, Sharktooth, Jethro, Divaman, Notrap, Gentleman
Wobbler: Zig, Twig, Friday, Sharktooth, Papa, Jethro, Divaman, Notrap, hansolo, e21, Gentleman
Evership: tmthy | MrSirLordGentleman
07.23.19 | Evership is really growing on me. Don't think I'll change my vote though | Jethro42
07.24.19 | There is something wrong about Wobbler imo; their music is too much loaded. It prevents from breathing well, and our ears from catching everything between two measures. the same thing happens for Genesis song ''Battle Of Epping Forest''. That song could be amply complete if it was instrumental. I don't say that Wobbler would be better if only instrumental, but there is often a wall of sound that is hard to break through, to absorb and to digest. It took me a while to fully appreciate because of that.
At first, I was thinking about choosing that entry, but I thought it had more than 30 votes, and i was only familiar with the famous epic opener. Kudos Sirlord in advance for your chosen knight. I regret it, snif snif... | Jethro42
07.24.19 | Also, that Wobbler album is ranking number one by far on Progarchives regarding albums from 2017 (4.43 for 552 votes). I noticed it several months ago. I didn't understand the hype at that time. | e210013
07.24.19 | Yeah, I thought on that album too. But since I hadn't any review of it already prepared, I skipped it. Besides, I never thought that it will be so popular between us. Great choice SirLord. | Divaman
07.24.19 | Funny thing, though. I have that album, and I certainly like it. But it wasn't my favorite prog album of 2017. The Mostly Autumn album that I entered in last year's tournament was. | bgillesp
07.24.19 | 2 and 3 | Divaman
07.24.19 | Off topic: I'll be seeing Jon Anderson live this coming Saturday, not 15 minutes from my home. Pretty psyched. His new album isn't really prog, but it's quite good. Rick Wakeman is coming around in a month or so also, but I'll have to miss that one. My wife and I have tickets to see Bryan Ferry in the city that night. | e210013
07.24.19 | Oh great. I would like to see the three too. Once I saw Roxy Music live. It was great. I always liked him. I hope you have a great evening, my friend. | Divaman
07.24.19 | Thanks e. | Friday13th
07.24.19 | Pulsar: Zig, Friday, tmthy, Papa, hansolo, e21, wham

Wobbler: Zig, Twig, Friday, Sharktooth, Papa, Jethro, Divaman, Notrap, hansolo, e21, Gentleman, bgillesp, Sabrutin
Evership: tmthy | wham49
07.24.19 | well it looks like it doesnt matter for the second match up, I'll throw my hat onto wobbler as well | MrSirLordGentleman
07.24.19 | I might prefer Evership over Pulsar and Unreal City so yeah, it's sad | Friday13th
07.24.19 | Pulsar: Zig, Friday, tmthy, Papa, hansolo, e21, wham, Sabrutin
Unreal City: Twig, Sharktooth, Jethro, Divaman, Notrap, Gentleman, bgillesp
Wobbler: Zig, Twig, Friday, Sharktooth, Papa, Jethro, Divaman, Notrap, hansolo, e21, Gentleman, bgillesp, Sabrutin, wham
Evership: tmthy
Pulsar is ahead 8-7, and the only people who haven't voted are Casavir and Scheumke, though Scheumke said he's too busy recording music. If we don't hear from Casavir or anyone else today, I'm gonna call it for Pulsar (and Wobbler obviously). | bgillesp
07.24.19 | Unreal city was my favorite this year, but my favorite is always cursed to lose | TheIntruder
07.24.19 | Sorry to be late. Sorry Jethro.

07.25.19 | Alright, I'm calling it!
Pulsar: 9-7
Wobbler:15-1 | e210013
07.25.19 | Ok, finally we have a decision. It's a pity that one of these two albums had must get out of the way. And the destiny decided that it must be the album of my friend Jethro. Both are great albums in their own way and style. For me, both were excellent options to pass to the last journey. Anyway, we all know that our friend Jethro always knew to chose great albums to these tourneys.
Cheers my friend. And lets go to the last step. | Jethro42
07.25.19 | No worries e21, my friend. Your knight is the more appropriate and redoubtable opponent to match up Wobbler in final. My entry lacked a bit of flavour to rivalize; Not enough sugar perhaps. Best of luck to you. You really deserve to be up there. Don't forget to try Il Paese Del Tramonto, the one that i had to choose. I was close to take Not A Good Sign, another symphonic prog band I haven't choose because I thought it takes some time to grow on people, even on progheads. I gave their first album a 4.5
Cheers! | e210013
07.25.19 | Thanks, pal. I'll check "Il Paese Del Tramonto", surely. I became fan of Unreal City. Besides you know I love RPI.
About Not A Good Sign, I never heard anything about them before. I took a look to Progarchives, right now, and I could see that it's another Italian band with many and great ratings, mainly their debut. Once they're put on the eclectic prog, I suppose they're a bit more difficult band to diggest. But, I like very much of eclectic bands. I'm an eclectic prog guy too. I'll put them on my list of prioritery bands to check.
Thanks bro. | Jethro42
07.25.19 | Yeah that's right, Not A Good Sign is more eclectic than symphonic. it varies a lot into a same song, and from a song to another. Musicians are incredible. They know how to do clever, complex arrangements. The first album is definitely the best. Long live eclectic prog! |
