| Evolution of Sloth. Early years
Sup, so I've been on Sput for 7 months (veteran, I know), and feel as though it's time to let you all know how my music taste evolved/devolved/changed throughout my existence.
List below is my favorite album of each year, I remember, as I lived through that year. | 1 | | Men at Work Business as Usual
1981
My Current rating. 5
Average Sput rating. 3.6 from 71 votes
Average RYM rating. 3.45 from 1,506 views
I was young, but still preferred real music over children's songs. My parents both loved this album, so it was on heavy rotation. I can still remember my dad singing. Be good be good be good be good be good be good be good Johnny. Still am awesome song. | 2 | | Michael Jackson Thriller
1982.
My current rating. 4
Sput. 4.3 from 1,535

What wasn't there to love about Michael when you were a little boy. He touched me in a special way. Initially this album was all about thriller for me, the film clip, the dancing, the song, but then i stated getting into the other tracks, Wanna be startin somethin, Beat it and Billie Jeans were favorites of the young Sloth | 3 | | Culture Club Colour by Numbers
1983.
My current rating. 3.5
Sput. 3.3 from 50
RYM. 3.09 from 825.
I was fascinated by Boy George, and loved Karma Chameleon to death. Listening to this album again, i only recognise a few other tracks on the A side, i must have kept on repeating side A. | 4 | | Prince Purple Rain
1984
My Current rating. 5
Sput. 4.4 from 871
RYM. 4.07 from 11,796
What was it about my youth that loved flamboyant performers. This was my jam, i had to sneak to watch the movie/clips, my parents were strict on what i was allowed to watch, but they'd play explicit records all the time. | 5 | | Tears for Fears Songs from the Big Chair
1985
My current rating. 4.5
Sput. 4.1 from 490
RYM. 3.84 from 5,686
Another album that my oldies spun a lot. I ended up taking over it, and chose to put it on myself. Everybody Wants to Rule the World was my anthem of that year, slothing through the woods. | 6 | | Crowded House Crowded House
1986

Great Australian, via New Zealand band. All my friends would listen to this as well, i think every second house in Australia would be jamming this whilst we played backyard cricket. | 7 | | Midnight Oil Diesel and Dust

Another classic Australian album. The political messages were over my head, but i knew they were important. I remember asking my mum what the song Bed Are Burning, was about. This was the first album where i actually took notice of the lyrics. | 8 | | New Kids on the Block Hangin' Tough
1988.

From slops to tops. This was the first album i bought with my own money. I used to show it off to all my friends, i used to read and sing along with every song, the first album i did this to. I took ownership of this album and told everyone about it, my first rec. | 10 | | Public Enemy Fear of a Black Planet
1990
My current rating. 4
Sput. 4.3 from 741

I had this on cassette, and I'd take it everywhere. We were the whitest little Aussie wannabe African Americans. This started my rap faze. | |

08.06.19 | Yeah, i remember a lot of what music was played at home, or on car rides. Music was played more than television was watched in our household, and it was never commercial radio.
@Pik, stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 to see where things corrected themselves. | Gestapo
08.06.19 | Good list | SlothcoreSam

I'm still a fan of Public Enemy, though I don't listen to them as much. And as a Minnesotan it is my duty to listen to Prince. | WatchItExplode
