| Pearl Jam - ranked
A highly subjective ranking of all PJ studio albums. | 10 | | Pearl Jam Backspacer
I really tried to like this album, but I just can't. It's boring and derivative. | 9 | | Pearl Jam Lightning Bolt
"Sirens" is amazing. The rest of the songs...not so much. | 8 | | Pearl Jam Pearl Jam
A strange album. | 7 | | Pearl Jam Riot Act
Actually, this album has aged pretty well. I didn't really enjoy it at first, but over time I've grown fond of it. | 6 | | Pearl Jam Binaural
A transitional record. The ballads and mid tempo songs are really strong, but some of the harder material is lackluster. Especially the first three songs are mediocre at best. "Light years", "Nothing as it seems" and "Thin air" are amazing, though. | 5 | | Pearl Jam Ten
The hits are glorious, but in my ears the sound has aged terribly. I still remember when I heard "Alive" for the first time. I was in tears. That solo! | 4 | | Pearl Jam Vs.
Oh, what could have been. | 3 | | Pearl Jam No Code
I love the mid 90s quirky period of PJ. There are so many amazing songs on this album. I adore "Smile". And "Lukin" is badass. | 2 | | Pearl Jam Vitalogy
Maybe this album is the reason why the band is still around. Spin, spin! | 1 | | Pearl Jam Yield
I'm serious. While other albums might have been more successful, "Yield" will always be my favourite album of theirs. I love almost every single song on here, with "Pilate" being the only exception. | |

09.24.19 | dude | Josh D.
09.24.19 | Ten aged terribly? Mate, you’ve lost the plot. | wojodta
09.24.19 | i don't know why, but 8's always been my favorite | Larkinhill
09.24.19 | Vitalogy is my #1, but props on placing it as high as you did. | virpi
09.24.19 | I can't stand the stadium rock sound of "Ten", even though it suits songs like "Alive" and "Jeremy" quite well. But overall, it's too "big" for my taste. The songs are very good, though. | Source
09.24.19 | what don't you like about Vs? | artiswar
09.24.19 | Yield #1? Wtf? Do I have to revisit that one? I recall it being pretty underwhelming. | Larkinhill
09.25.19 | Yield is great. Definitely one of their best. Top 4 for me are Vitalogy, Vs, Yield and No Code (in no order, except for Vitalogy being 1).
Binaural is so underrated. Also, I really like Backspacer. | artiswar
09.25.19 | I think I'll revisit those, it's been years. My go-to PJ is usually No Code or Versus. | Larkinhill
09.25.19 | Good choices. Vitalogy is goat though. | JDubb
09.25.19 | 8 is up there for me as well. | Emim
09.25.19 | I'm calling the police | Larkinhill
09.25.19 | 8 and 9 are my bottom two, but I think I have them at 3 so it’s not like I dislike them. I’ve been a pretty big PJ fan ever since Ten came out when I was in 5th/6th grade.
Lightning Bolt is their worst (only PJ album I don’t have in my collection), but The Getaway is pretty awesome. And as far as s/t goes, Marker in the Sand is like a top 15 PJ song for me. | tef
09.25.19 | really hard to do this because the albums differ quite a lot; my top 5 would be; Yield, Binaural, Ten, Avocado, Vs. Yield was really their turning to a more adult, subdued sound, which I really liked, also the first album with Matt Cameron on drums if I remember correctly.
No Code has never done it for me. I have all their albums and the last couple are not very interesting, not bad, but not really good either. They should leave their comfort zone a bit more... | virpi
09.25.19 | Yield was done with Jack Irons on drums. | porcupinetheater
09.25.19 | Only list I’ve ever seen get 1 + 2 right, big ups | juiceviaorange
02.25.20 | I can get behind this ranking - mine isn't too far off from this | tectactoe
02.25.20 | 'Ten' didn't age terribly. It wasn't good to begin with. | Larkinhill
02.25.20 | Agree that your top 4 are the top 4, but I’d personally put it Vitalogy-Vs-Yield-No Code.
Backspacer is way underrated imo. Lightning Bolt is dull as fuck and their worst, but Getaway is amazing. The avocado album is kinda meh too but Marker in the Sand and Inside Job are fucking awesome. |
