11.15.19 | talk to me, how do you write songs | osmark86
11.15.19 | whenever I feel inspired be it by something I've heard, seen, read about. could be a scene from a movie or something interesting from conversation. I dunno man, inspiration is such a fleeting thing and you never really know when it's going to whack you in the head. | madrigal30
11.15.19 | ^^ for real. last night my friend and i were talking about bureaucracy and that inspired a song but its hard to drop everything and just Write soemtimes | JohnnyoftheWell
11.15.19 | Lots of vibes (and things I need to check) in this list, but osmark knows it
I guess the second Crystal Castles album, Melt-Banana's Cell Scape and Yuki Kajiura's OST for the Kara no Kyoukai movies are my biggest touchstones for now as far as writing/production go | madrigal30
11.15.19 | really interesting influences Johnny i'd love to hear yr music! | SmallMess
11.15.19 | I mostly see songwriting as building: slap riff 1 and riff 2 together, and you've got a functional base, then keep adding shit until it feels complete. If you don't get sick of an instrumental over the course of a month, you've done good. Writing lyrics is harder for me though, because I usually listen more to the music and not to the words.
My inspirations are also albums by bands that know their way about a riff: Beyond by Dinosaur Jr., Fantastic Planet by Failure, Alice In Chains' self-titled album, some Pixies and Frank Black stuff.
Really envy people who get inspiration from something other than music itself, because the creative process sometimes feels like cannibalism. | madrigal30
