This is a very serious inquiry. |
luci
01.29.20 | you have to ask the mods to fix album art on albums already in the database |
SandwichBubble
01.29.20 | You didn't have to before.
Proof, I can do it without having to go to the meds thread. |
GhandhiLion
01.29.20 | bump for exposure |
SandwichBubble
01.29.20 | Ghandhi, that album you used as a test still doesn't have art so it's pretty much confirmed that "base" users don't have the power to add art to already submitted albums anymore.
What a weird thing to get axed. |
dedex
01.29.20 | I've tried multiple times (since the big crash) with .jpg smaller than 500x500 and it doesn't work. |
SandwichBubble
01.29.20 | ^ exactly, the crash caused some sort of problem, or it's a deliberate choice.
Maybe the crash was caused by users having that power before so they took it away?
It's a conspiracy, I tell you

GhandhiLion
01.29.20 | Or maybe this site is broken, outdated and poorly maintained... |
SandwichBubble
01.29.20 | I mean, that's a given.
But why would I still be able to then. Just cause I've edited a bit more?
I mean, if it really is tied to how many edits you've made pre-crash, then how are people supposed to transcend that barrier now? Just repeatedly add album art over and over in vain till they reach 1000 (or more) edits? |
SandwichBubble
01.29.20 | Maybe this needs a clickbait-y title.
"YOUR RIGHTS ARE BEING TRAMPLED ON: ALBUM ART CENSUS FOR THE FATE OF THE WORLD [REAL]" |
GhandhiLion
01.29.20 | Something else I don't think I have seen people mention is artist bios. I can't submit them. |
GhandhiLion
01.29.20 | I like that title more. |
dedex
01.29.20 | Have the mods confirmed it's tied to how many edits one has made pre-crash? |
SandwichBubble
01.29.20 | "Something else I don't think I have seen people mention is artist bios. I can't submit them."
Well for those I still have to wait a day for mod approval. But if you're saying they don't work at all, then that's another problem on the pile.
"Have the mods confirmed it's tied to how many edits one has made pre-crash?"
No, but I think either an old staff/user mentioned it in the meds thread when I asked. Give me a minute and I'll see if I can find it. |
Trifolium
01.29.20 | ''Ghandhi, that album you used as a test still doesn't have art so it's pretty much confirmed that "base" users don't have the power to add art to already submitted albums anymore.
What a weird thing to get axed.''
I asked the mods about this a few months ago and the reply made me believe I was able to change album art from existing albums. It had to be 400x400 or less, .jpg format for it to work though.
Wait a sec, going to look for the reply in the forum, hope I'll find my way out of there again... |
Trifolium
01.29.20 | The Great Jom himself told me this on 12-17-19:
''As long as you are meeting the parameters of images described in the original post, it should work (e.g. scale down Bandcamp art from 1200x1200 to < 500x500 px). I've adjusted the requested art, so hopefully upon refresh you see them as well. Cheers!''
The original post is as follows:
''Ideal image size would be 500x500px and no larger than 200kb.
And whatever you do, do not try uploading artwork to an album several times in a row -- it will cause the album artwork to crash permanently.
Make sure you are actually uploading a JPG or JPEG as well. No PNG or any other file type.'' |
Divaman
01.29.20 | I just added the art for Jethro Tull's "An Introduction to Jethro Tull", an album that had no art (and an album that I wasn't the one who added to the database). I do have way more than 1,000 album edits, though.
I can also submit artist bios. I submitted a couple last night. (Although as always, those have to be approved by the mods before they show up.) |
SandwichBubble
01.29.20 | Here's the post in question and it actually was a mod (bad memory): https://www.sputnikmusic.com/forums/showpost.php?p=19340608&postcount=1669
"There were definitely users who were given special "privileges" regarding adding to the database and were allowed to upload and modify wihout having their changes sittng in the queue."
While not a direct confirmation, the only people that I've seen that can edit album art still are those with a decent amount of edits (Asdfp277, Divaman, me). Safe to say that "special privileges" are probably auto-bestowed on people with more edits. |
Trifolium
01.29.20 | So the answer seems to be: yes, you can, as long as you stick to the rules (500x500 px max, .jpg or .jpeg only).
It takes a while for the changes to come through too. |
SandwichBubble
01.29.20 | I care way too much about this, what a way to spend my day off. |
Trifolium
01.29.20 | I've got ''only'' 259 edits though... |
SandwichBubble
01.29.20 | Trifolium, Ghandhi did a little test and unless the album art queue is backed up something fierce, his edit still hasn't gone through 2-3 days later. |
GhandhiLion
01.29.20 | I always scale images down to 200x200 and I still can not upload edits. |
Trifolium
01.29.20 | Hmmm, that is weird. Jom told me otherwise by the looks of it.
Perhaps he was lying... |
SandwichBubble
01.29.20 | I doubt it was malicious, I think they really just think people are adding 1000px pngs or something. I wouldn't blame them. |
JohnnyoftheWell
01.29.20 | Yeah, I've done that a few times - 700x700 is a good comfort zone and I always type the .jpg tag out as part of the name |
GhandhiLion
01.29.20 | "1000px"
But you can not upload images that big anymore. (on first submission) |
Trifolium
01.29.20 | The plot thickens.
''...and I always type the .jpg tag out as part of the name'' Ha, I do that too! |
SandwichBubble
01.29.20 | That's what I'm saying though Ghandhi, every time someone asks about the art, the go-to response is to make sure that it's the correct size and a jpg. But I'm sure people are adding it correctly, it's just not going through for most.
Okay I don't have a better way of testing this so here's my bunk experiment.
I added an album without art to the list.
Here's the art in the correct size and format: http://www.progarchives.com/progressive_rock_discography_covers/9349/cover_45513742015_r.jpg
Anyone able to add it? (not asking you Diva, you 7000 edit powerhouse) |
JohnnyoftheWell
01.29.20 | Hi sir, may I have a prize
Also added a tracklist because *some monster* missed that out |
SandwichBubble
01.29.20 | And it worked! Art is added. (Thanks for the tracklist too, above and beyond the line of duty)
But you're a contrib, maybe y'all have "powers" too or something.
This is impossible to gauge. |
dedex
01.29.20 | "I've got ''only'' 259 edits though..."

JohnnyoftheWell
01.29.20 | Oh shi dedex this is Missing Info and q scary - maybe it only shows up after a certain number of edits?
I have a vague memory of not being able to edit art after getting contrib, but also it's very likely that I was continually resubmitting an oversized image so who knows? Also have a slightly less vague memory of editing being generally less stressful after the big server crash last year, so perhaps they broadened the range of people who could edit artwork then? |
GhandhiLion
01.29.20 | I have 521 Album Edits |

Well, that's enough data I think.
So that's two "base" (sorry, can't think of another word for y'all) users that can't add the art. While contribs, staff, and those with high album edits can.
No idea what to do with this new info, but consider my theory confirmed. |

Sowing
01.29.20 | absolutely maybe, but even more seriously probably not at all |

- release date edits
And yes, life is a busted up machine. |
Trifolium
01.29.20 | I cannot ever change release dates on my own and it's driving me crazy. Each time I accidentally hit enter too soon while adding a new album I have to go to the forum to ask others to fix my mistakes. |
el_newg
01.29.20 | my thoughts previously had been that perhaps there was a shadow "editor" role that was assigned to users if they are consistently submitting releases correctly to the database, but that's mostly baseless so who knows. |
Aerisavion
01.29.20 | Think so, it just takes forever to update. |
SandwichBubble
01.29.20 | Damn, even release dates are messed up?
I shouldn't take my powers for granted.
Wait, Aeri have you uploaded album art to a previously submitted album before? How long did it take for it to update? |
Aerisavion
01.29.20 | Yeah it took like a day or two but when I checked later it was there. |
SandwichBubble
01.29.20 | Recently?
Well, back to square one. |

Actually, your intrusion was useful. Showed that while two others couldn't upload, you could. So thanks :) |
Divaman
01.29.20 | Release dates have always been a bit of an issue. You have to check them after you submit the album -- sometimes, when you put in a date, if you don't click on it again when the site suggests years to you, if will upload the info with no date. Just another strange quirk of the site. Meanwhile, I'm still working my way through the all the albums I added last year that lost their album art last Labor Day. It's literally going to probably take me until this coming Labor Day to do it. |
SandwichBubble
01.29.20 | I thought that only happens with albums released in the year 2005. I haven't had any issues with any year besides that.
Also, I'm impressed you're still going with the dedicated cleanup effort. I just do it whenever I see a busted album. |
Divaman
01.29.20 | I was able to take a screenshot of the site's list of all of the albums I added for the last year and a half before prior to Labor Day. I'm working my way backwards. I probably have about 10 months' worth done. Half of them, I don't even remember entering into the database anymore. |
RogueNine
01.30.20 | I've tried to upload a handful to albums that have the question mark as their album art. Fit the requirements and everything, but haven't got it to work. |
Trifolium
01.30.20 | Do they also change from the ๐ symbol into a plain blank field when you change them? Suggesting that the site feels there's something there but it just can't process the visuals? That happens to me all the time. |
Aerisavion
01.30.20 | โRecently?
Well, back to square one.โ
Yeah it was a week or two ago while updating my shuffle a day list., |
SandwichBubble
01.30.20 | Aeri, was one of them Twin Oaks? Because I'm the one that added art to that one.
I'm one of the "contributors" down at the bottom and the art is in my pc's recycling bin right now.
As I said, I kind of click around lists to check for blank album art.
Any others you've tried adding recently? |

03.15.22 | I've given up on them ever fixing it, because it seems like they still think it's user error and I don't have the willpower to try to explain what's happening to them. Even if they did believe me, they don't seem to have very much say in how the site works/functions.
If it were broken for everyone, I wouldn't even care. But the fact that a select few can add art to artless albums without moderator approval just confuses me. I just want to know what I did to get access so I can pass it along to the rest of you. |

03.15.22 | >But the fact that a select few can add art to artless albums without moderator approval just confuses me.
honestly im not sure why it IS the case here, BUT in theory at least it would make sense for an understaffed site to allow several trusted users to work more effectively in improving the db without otherwise giving them full moderation privileges |
SandwichBubble
03.15.22 | The whole reasom why I thought it was tied to the amount of album edits you have is because I thought it was bestowed automatically. Like, you cross a certain number of edits, the site trusts you, gives you album art privileges.
Because I doubt mx came down from the heavens to give like 10-20 users "the power."
So it's either automatic, locked out forever and only a few people got access, or the mods CAN bestow "the power" and just don't. |
Trifolium

03.15.22 | If you'd be so kind as to summarize this for me (because I'm too lazy to read 200+ comments)?
Is the gist that people can't upload album artwork even when it's 500x500 or smaller and less than 200kb, or is it more curiosity as to why some users seem to be able to bypass approval? |
Trifolium
03.15.22 | As far as I understand it both of your summaries are correct Sowing. Plus don't forget that they're .jp(e)gs too so we're doing everything as the system requires it but the art never updates. |
Sowing
03.15.22 | Are we taking into account that the artwork requires approval? So, for example, if you are unable to add artwork currently, you might try now while informing me of the artist and album name so that I can see what the issue is when it hits the moderator approval queue. |

Sowing
03.15.22 | OK. I rejected that upload on purpose because it was just going to give the album the white square. Can someone else who allegedly has upload abilities try using the exact image linked by Trifolium in the above post? (@Sandwich perhaps?) |
Sowing
03.15.22 | Re: the 2019 hypothesis - Trifolium's join date is June 2018, and the AWS meltdown that would have caused any issues was Sept 2019. So in theory (at least as it relates to the 2019 crash theory), Trif should have been able to add the above artwork with moderator approval. There would be no reason for it to be white-squaring his submissions when it is 499x499 and well under 200 kb.
I have another theory of my own. When the 2019 crash occurred, it wiped out data after 2017. I do not have visibility into the site script or anything close to it, but if certain user abilities were not restored then it would make sense why Sandwich (2015) can add artwork but Trifolium (2018) cannot.
Further compounding matters is that if Sandwich is one of the alleged users who can bypass approval, then we really need someone else who is encountering issues to test. What we need to see is; (1) can all users who joined and/or edited albums pre-2017 (or 2019? I'm unsure what the tipping point in time was) still at the very least have their 500x500 or smaller and 200kb or smaller submissions show up properly in the moderator approval queue and, (2) do all users who joined after 2017/2019 (?) have their submissions show up as the white square of death? If this is indeed the case, and it is split down either a 2017 or 2019 fault line, then it is most likely due to the AWS outage and we can point the issue out to mx. It still doesn't explain why some users can bypass the approval queue altogether, but to me the bigger issue is that many users are correctly submitting the artwork and are still getting the white square of death. I don't want to approach mx about it until I have some clarity over exactly what the issue is, though. I'm willing to run through scenarios with users in this thread as my own time permits, so please don't feel like we're ignoring the problem out of spite/apathy. |
SandwichBubble
03.15.22 | "Can someone else who allegedly has upload abilities try using the exact image linked by Trifolium in the above post? (@Sandwich perhaps?)"
Done. |
parksungjoon
03.15.22 | i submitted one for william ackerman - it takes a year
|
Sowing
03.15.22 | I didn't get anything in my approval queue and I see the artwork is fixed, so I guess that just confirms what we already knew (that you can somehow bypass moderator approval).
So what we might want to try now is what I suggested in the long post above. We need to select a new album without art (there's plenty on that John Tejada page) and - one at a time while waiting for me to check the queue in between - have a user from pre-2017 try a proper less than 500x500 / less than 200kb submission to see if it shows up correctly in my approval queue. If it does, then I'd like to try a user with a join date from 2020 or later with a different album from the John Tejada page. If they follow the correct image parameters and it shows up as broken, then there might be a legitimate case to be made for the AWS crash having fucked up user permissions past a certain point in time.
I'm switching over to mobile for a while but will do my best to continue to support these troubleshooting efforts while watching the kids. Thanks everyone for helping. |
Sowing
03.15.22 | @parks: your image showed up as a white square so I rejected it. Were the parameters correct and it was a jpeg? You joined in 2013 so by virtue of the 2017/19 crash theory you should be golden as long as the images are smaller than 500x500/200kb (unless these parameters have been wrong all along - could try even smaller like 100x100 and 30kb or smaller just to see if that passes the test - it would at least rule out the 2017/19 theory if that works) |

Sowing
03.15.22 | I wonder if that was an isolated incident or if it would occur consistently. If the latter, then it would point to either (1) the 2017/2019 crash wiping out abilities for all non-bypass enabled users regardless of join date or, (2) an alteration to the established upload parameters that went uncommunicated. We can test the latter with a very small upload (less than 100x100, minimal kb) from a user who is usually unable to upload. |
Sowing

03.15.22 | I've tried in the past to edit album art using the required parameters and it works sometimes and other times it gives me the white square so idk what causes it. That's why I just go to meds forum for album art fixes now |
Sowing
03.15.22 | Still no dice parks. Does this issue occur on new album uploads or only edits of existing ones? |
Sowing
03.15.22 | @Steak it could have to do with the number of attempts. If there have been multiple upload attempts it tends to give you the white square, which is why troubleshooting this is such a pain because to remove that variable we technically should be testing with a new album every single time. |
parksungjoon
03.15.22 | >Still no dice parks. Does this issue occur on new album uploads or only edits of existing ones?
it has never occurred to me when adding new albums to the db, not even with images that are like 600x600 for example |

Sowing
03.16.22 | OK thanks arf.
I still have not encountered a user that is able to submit artwork that appears successfully in the moderator queue. So far it's only been people who can't upload anything at all, or people who can bypass the approval entirely.
I don't see any special usergroup permission overlap between Sandwich and arf, which leads me to believe that perhaps there is an album edit threshold (1,000?) that allows users to bypass moderator approval.
A lot of site functionality was lost after the AWS power surge wiped out the server in Sept 2019 - I find it unlikely to be a coincidence that this thread started in Jan 2020, given that it would take some time for users to realize that something was awry.
My current hunch is that certain specific users who reached whatever milestone (I am woefully unaware of what this is) retained some sort of special permission that weathered the server crash, while everyone else's permissions were erroneously nixed and the issue was possibly never even addressed (on Sputnik? no fucking way!)
The above hunch would be disproved if I could find some users who can successfully submit artwork while still requiring mod approval; then I could inspect their permissions to see where (if anywhere) they differ from users who meet a brick wall with every submission attempt. |

Sowing
03.16.22 | It's very much a hypothesis, as Sandwich denoted in his latest update to the list. I still feel like I've seen successful artwork changes in the approval queue within the last few months, which would muddle the clearly defined line between the "bypassers" and the "always rejected". I feel like we're starting to at least be able to define the issue, though, which is the bare minimum I'd need to add this to the massive list of demands that we just sent to mx (genre tags, updates, et al). Although if we can concretely prove this issue and describe it in a way that makes sense, then I imagine this would be one of the more important bugs to fix.
---"Is there no table in the database (I'm assuming it's a mySQL db) which stores user permissions? Surely we could just compare someone who can do it with someone who can't"---
@fogza - Yes, users do fall into some (mostly pre-defined) roles. The problem is that despite my best efforts, I have not been able to identify correlation (let alone proving causation). For example, Sandwich has a separate role that I was convinced was directly responsible for his ability to bypass mod approval; however, I then stumbled upon arf, who does not possess said role yet he can also bypass approval with the exact same base permissions as every other user on the site. Hopefully that makes sense, but the TL;DR here is that while specific roles do exist, there are users without any roles beyond what you get when you first register who are still able to bypass mod approval -- and that, to me at least, suggests some sort of album edit threshold serving as the key to unlock that ability.
---"Just to make sure: the John Tejada record I tried to artworkify yesterday (The Matrix Of Us) now has artwork! Glorious! Did you do that Sowing, or did the system work in the end?"---
@Trifolium - No, this was arf, who apparently also had album edit abilities. |
fogza
03.16.22 | ok, so maybe it's some business logic layer, like when you click submit on the album edit the scripting queries against thresholds with values attached to the submitting user. if that's true i wonder if it stores those thresholds as database values or if they're hard coded in the server side scripting. so weird. |
Sowing
03.16.22 | Yeah, I wish I could answer questions about the site's code but I have no visibility into that. The only thing we can really hope to do is concretely define what the problem is, narrow down to likely causes, and then engage the site's owner when he actually possesses some free time. |
Demon of the Fall
03.16.22 | I had a brief read of what you guys have been talking about.
Are my services required? i.e. do you need me to run a test for a larger sample size? My join date is 02-23-17 if that helps. I have previously completed some edits, although the list looks smaller than expected. By memory it usually takes a little while for my edits to appear... I presume they are being approved first, yet I don't think this is always the case, weirdly. |
Sowing
03.16.22 | @Demon - feel free to submit an edit to an album lacking artwork and I can check. Just make sure it is smaller than 500x500 and less than 200kb. And a JPG, obviously. |
Demon of the Fall
03.16.22 | yep, should be done now. I uploaded art for 'The Processing Machine' by John Tejada (as it had been pointed out several were missing).
Nothing appeared, so I went back to upload the same file again and I received the 'duplicate entry' message - presumably (if processed correctly) it is now awaiting approval then? Let's see. |
Sowing
03.16.22 | It showed up as a white square so I rejected it, but now I'm not sure if it was because you tried to upload it twice in a row.
If you want, try again with a different album. |
SandwichBubble
03.16.22 | Gonna nail my thesis to mx's door tonight |
Demon of the Fall
03.16.22 | oh right, I'll try a different one then. Hang on a sec... |
Demon of the Fall
03.16.22 | I tried 'Where' by John Tejada instead
any luck? |
Sowing
03.16.22 | @Demon - No dice, still a white square. I'm beginning to wonder if the ones you remember going through successfully were the result of the mods seeing the white square in the approval queue and then proceeding to fix it themselves (ftr, I do this all the time). As long as you're certain that the artwork met the uploader's criteria (500x500 or smaller, less than 200kb, JPG file type) then I think it's yet another tally in the column of "this shit's broke yo". |
Sowing
03.16.22 | Just to get our ducks in a row, can anyone try adding a "test" album to the John Tejada page with random artwork (keep it appropriate please)? I can delete it right after, but I want to confirm that artwork additions function properly when adding a new album to the database (I believe they do). |
Demon of the Fall
03.16.22 | the sizes are tiny, a matter of 20-30kb and I reduced them down to 200x200. File type is definitely .jpg as well |
Demon of the Fall
03.16.22 | if you upload / edit an artist's page, could you then potentially appear on the list of 'contributors'? I'm sure I created YAYA KIM's page complete with the artwork, someone else must've been doing so almost simultaneously if whatever I did failed to work. How strange. |
Sowing
03.16.22 | Yes I believe you show up as a contributor for the page once you upload an album. You can try a test album right now if you want ;-) |
Trifolium
03.16.22 | I have never had any issues with adding a new release (including artwork), and I do this daily or weekly.
It worked this time too:

>if you upload / edit an artist's page, could you then potentially appear on the list of 'contributors'?
if you edit the page itself, i.e. bio or similars, yea
if you just add albums or vote on genres, no
in my experience |
gschwen
03.16.22 | Is this the place where we flag mods to fix stuff? Can you change the โWe Are The Unionโ band page to have the name spelled correctly? You can only get there by typing โWe Are Theโ. |
Trifolium
03.16.22 | "if you edit the page itself, i.e. bio or similars, yea

Same. |
Demon of the Fall
03.16.22 | I've definitely edited things in the past and shown up as a 'contributor' so some of my edits must have worked at some point, I'll check |
parksungjoon
03.16.22 | >Can you change the โWe Are The Unionโ band page to have the name spelled correctly? You can only get there by typing โWe Are Theโ.
hahahahahah there's your second example of UNION being fucked Trif and anyone else who was curious :] |
Ryus
03.16.22 | gonna name my band UNION UPDATE DELETE SELECT to fuck with the database |
Demon of the Fall
03.16.22 | I appear as a contributor for Acoustic Ladyland - and apparently added 'Camouflage' according to my profile, artwork seems fine there.
YAYA KIM appears in my edits (again, artwork fine) yet there is no contributor listed on the artist page. |
Trifolium
03.16.22 | Oh wow the other user who made a test album for Tejada also added Hi Sowing to the tracklist hahaha! |
Sowing
03.16.22 | OK, thanks for proving me right with those test albums. I'll delete them now.
This still helps us because it proves that the issue is not with the uploader itself, but rather with users' abilities to edit existing albums. |
parksungjoon
03.16.22 | that was me :x
heh ryus knows |
Trifolium
03.16.22 | Aahhahaha true park!
And we meant at the bottom of the artist page Demon, there's a list of contributors there, but it only includes your name if you adapt the bio, not if you add an album. |
Trifolium
03.16.22 | Yeah it seems to only be an issue with restoring existing artwork (and adapting release dates or album types (from LP to EP) by the way! Same issue!). |
Demon of the Fall
03.16.22 | hang on Trif, so if you literally create the artist page yourself that doesn't make you a 'contributor'? haha, what a curious system that is!
I know what it is, like I said my username is displayed under the Acoustic Ladyland one. |
parksungjoon
03.16.22 | >so if you literally create the artist page yourself that doesn't make you a 'contributor'? haha, what a curious system that is!
thats correct |
Trifolium
03.16.22 | Yup. A very silly situation! |
SandwichBubble
03.16.22 | All you have to do is add some similar bands, band description, or edit an existing album and you're a contributor.
Hell, you don't even have to do that. Just click edit band information and hit submit. |
Demon of the Fall
03.16.22 | oh cool, yeah that works!
(I did actually add a couple of similar artists by the way, I'm not that cheap) |
SandwichBubble
03.16.22 | Appreciate that. I try to always write a short band description and some similar bands when adding new artists. Just looks more professional.
And just so it's clear, I do have to wait for mod approval for band descriptions to show up just like everyone else. |
fogza
03.16.22 | "And just so it's clear, I do have to wait for mod approval for band descriptions to show up just like everyone else."
so fancy! |
parksungjoon
03.16.22 | Sowing can you clear something up for me about band descriptions? What happens when there are multiple edits pending approval? Do you see them all in the queue or only the most recent one? Asking only because I got mixed info on this before. |
Sowing
03.16.22 | Honestly I don't know. If you and someone else want to coordinate this I'll tell you what I see. Not sure why it matters but I'm happy to play along. |
Trifolium
03.16.22 | I have added "This is a test" at the end of John Tejada's band description. Edit away park! The poor guy.
On the other hand, his page has seen an explosive increase in traffic recently! |
ItsTheSquirrel
03.16.22 | I've tried a couple times to add artwork to some Leevi and the Leavings albums but it hasn't gone through so I'm assuming they were also broken (I first tried several days ago)? My account was created between 2017 and 2019 so it would also support 2017 being the cut off point |
Sowing
03.16.22 | @Trifolium: I missed the window with that, as another moderator swept through and dismissed the band edit. However, I was able to use two of my own alts to submit identical edits to the John Tejada page, and they did both appear. So hopefully that answers @parksungjoon's inquiry. |
Sowing
03.16.22 | @ItsTheSquirrel - Although it's possible, I no longer think that the join date has anything to do with it. I was trying from a 2011 user-level alt of my own, and could not even get 50x50, 1kb JPG's to show up. Something else is wrong. I'm eventually going to tack this on to mx's list -- although I'll probably wait until he shows up here to work the genre tags because I don't want to overwhelm him with what is already a daunting series of requests. |
parksungjoon
03.16.22 | cheers! |
gschwen
03.16.22 | Is there any particular reason why only albums from 2012 or 2013 show their specific release date on the artist main page? (The band Altars is a good example of this) |
arf
03.16.22 | Oh yeah I was also going to ask that. I'm assuming it was so that old albums where release date isn't input / isn't known don't just all show up as 01/01, but it wasn't implemented correctly & doesn't work post-2013 (works only for specific years instead of everything since a specific year) |
Sowing
05.04.22 | I've run this up the chain. No promises on anything other than that mx will definitely look at it, likely around the same time as the implementation of the new genre tags. |

07.27.22 | So, what is the latest status on this, anyone know?
Just tried to add an album art for an existing album and it didn't go through. Would be nice to have that power granted, but I'm obviously not holding my breath lol. |
SandwichBubble
07.27.22 | It's coming soonโข
So probably never. |
tectactoe
07.28.22 | It is mildly excruciating because the combination of my pedantry with my anal-retentiveness makes me cry every time I see an album with an incorrect title or super-pixelated or missing artwork and there's nothing I can do to immediately fix it. Especially considering I would be more than happy to immediately fix it. |
Divaman
07.29.22 | Are you sure it didn't go through, tectactoe? Don't forget that if you replace album art, you have to clear your cache or you won't see the new one? |
