If I have to take the good with the bad, gimme Current Affairs and Jacobin, but I follow people I like on Twitter and read their shit. Sometimes they're at NYMag, sometimes WaPo. Follow writers, not pubs imo. |

06.01.20 | “Is the Athletic worth the subscription?”
I think so, especially since the subscription is practically free at this point. Coverage is definitely better than ESPN and nearly every team in every sport has at least one dedicated beat writer. Obv right now content kinda sucks since there’s no sports to cover though. |

06.01.20 | Also lol yeah wsj and nytimes are like the same thing except wsj has a bunch of blue chip stock tickers at the top of the screen and costs like 4x more. Def ending my sub after my $1 trial is up. |

06.01.20 | Generally I try and read articles from everywhere, although from some publications like the Daily Mail, the Sun, the Express and the Telegraph I try to find a plain text version someone has posted. I like some longform pieces by Jacobin, but a couple of their writers are actual tankies (or at least used to be) and so some of their readers write stupid comments everywhere. |

06.01.20 | "No Guardian?"
Never actively read the The Guardian no. Kind of the point of the list though as I pretty much always go to the same places and never really leave my "comfort zone". Will try to browse through there tonight. |

06.02.20 | I was just wondering and at first I thought "maybe because the Guardian is not that popular in the US as it is in europe" but then Sinternet mentioned a list of British newspaper and the Guardian was also missing there. So I was thinking that maybe there is a specific reason for that.
However, I love the Guardian because it is one of the last few real investigative newspapers. When it comes to leaks, the Guardian is always the first one to be informed (in addition to some German newspapers as well). |
Sinternet
06.02.20 | i didn't mention the Guardian because I only named ones who i refuse to give clicks too and wait for someone on reddit to paste in plaintext. But whilst that is one of it's strengths it's the most middle-class london elite paper and also posts a shit ton of terf garbage |
EclipseInYourEyes
06.02.20 | oh sorry Sin, I misread that. I actually feel like the Guardian is often the most rational newspaper there is (even compared to the German ones) and I like their high journalism standards. And I am actually from a classic working class family (I think the US American term would be blue collar?) |

06.02.20 | "It's online but I'm addicted to FiveThirtyEight, it's fantastic if you're into politics or stats"
They're my go-to for political forecasting because they're the only source with no visible bias or spin. Even when I hate their forecasts they're usually right, like both the 2016 and 2020 primaries. |

06.02.20 | Vox is good. Very left leaning but their analysis is always fantastic.
Fivethirtyeight for polling and data driven stuff.
The Atlantic, Washington Post, AP, Foreign Affairs, and The Economist are some other good ones off the top of my head. Wall Street Journal is also ok although I don't agree with their politics very much. |
