one of my favourite artists. i don't really know how to "rate" Crow and Now Only so i'm not really considering them. and as blown away as I was by Microphones in 2020, i've only experienced it with the slideshow so i consider it more as a... graphic novel with a soundtrack?
1Mount Eerie
Wind's Poem

I love this album. Black metal-ish moments are great but it's stuff like "Summons", "Ancient Questions" and fucking "Between Two Mysteries" (which i was so obsessed with years before i ever watched Twin Peaks) that keep me going back to this again and again.
2Mount Eerie
Clear Moon

A calmer extension of the Wind's Poem vibe. "Through the Trees pt. 2", "Place I Live", "Lone Bell", "Yawning Sky", good good shit. I love the mode he was in around this time.
3Mount Eerie
Dawn

Contains a lot of his best acoustic material IMO. Really heartfelt and honest, transcends simple "guy with acoustic guitar" cliches. "Wooly Mammoth's Great Absence", "Great Ghosts", "Dead of Night" are stellar. The companion journal is a great read as well.
4The Microphones
The Glow Pt. 2

Hey here it is. Really good album.
5The Microphones
Mount Eerie

This was a tough spot, was a toss up between this and Lost Wisdom, but that treads similar ground to, and shares some songs with Dawn. This album is excellent and strange. "Solar System" is probably my favourite.
