It's like when a comedian has an amazing skit then randomly makes a poorly inserted shit, incest, or rape joke that just leaves a foul taste in your mouth. I would say the singles from Gradaution are Kanye's finest work though.

It could mean that the truth of sentences like "x album is good" is not fixed by the mental states of the person asserting the sentence. It could mean that there is some method for determining the truth of an album's quality that meets the sort of observer neutrality that the scientific method is typically thought to have. More modestly, it could be a claim about people's psychology and what their psychology leads them to like, rather than the aesthetic properties of the music itself. Further complicating the issue is that not all judgements about music are obviously about the aesthetic properties of the music. Claims about the historical impact of some music are very different from claims about how good the music is, although one may be based on the other. And so one set of claims may be more 'objective' than the other. So it can be very difficult to assess someone's claim that music is objective/subjective because it is normally very unclear as to what that claim means.
