09.05.21 | Voting ends this Friday.
This one is easy for me. All four have been on continuous rotation since I first discovered them, but 2 and 3 moreso. 3 was one that I happily voted for against my own recommendation: Heldon's Stand By (a great album nonetheless)!

Not that I'll need it. I vote for 1 and 3. |

09.06.21 | UTO is coming alive for me on relisten. At first I was a little hesitant with those operatic vocals but I’m digging it now, especially the vocal harmonies. Production is perfect. It will not overtake Wobbler for me but damn this is a great find. |

09.06.21 | Getting a little bit of a Tool vibe from some of the bass grooves on UTO. |

09.06.21 | @Inoculaeted yup, definitely some Tool like in track 3, and some Dream Theater as well. It’s got a great combination of styles. |

09.07.21 | I know Landberk can do it, as always. ''You Are'' is so poignant and gives me shivers all the time. Album is nearly perfect.

09.08.21 | @Jethro The Landberk album is a great album for sure. Definitely obscure and underrated as well. Even on Progarchives it has little more than 100 ratings and mostly lukewarm reviews. Makes one wonder: what album are they listening to? Maybe the altered youtube playlist ;)
Some people say they hear Anekdoten. I agree a little, but I think Landberk is more modern than Anekdoten's first album, the only one released up to that point. My guess is the lukewarm reviews are from people are expecting a more straight-forward retro prog sound like Anglagard and to a lesser extent Anekdoten, and are not expecting something more modern and alt-rock.
It really is a shame that it is so hard to snag a physical CD. Not available on any reputable streaming/download service, and it was never released on vinyl.

Hope not :/
It was the band's intention to give a quit following the album's release, but they finally released another so-so album before doing so. I just called my favorite prog music store, and Landberk was even not listed anymore. I've purchased my own CD's copy right there in the nineties. By the way, I cannot hear much Anekdoten save for rare passages where we find mellotrons in particular. |

09.10.21 | These are all great albums in their own way. However, for my taste, there two that stand out. I'm talking about "One Man Tells Another" and "Mathematical Mother". The first one has some of best things I love most in the modern prog, a perfect marriage between the old and new with the dark melancholia so typical of the Nordic prog bands. The second one has, for me, a perfect way to interpret, what can will be one of the ways for the modern prog. A perfect fusion between almost all styles of music with a real avant-garde aproach.
So, it must be Landberk and UTO. |
e210013
09.10.21 | By the way. If the finalists come to be Landberk and UTO, which I sincerely hope, it will be a very problematic and tuff decision for me. That's for sure. |

09.12.21 | To the greater prog community beyond sputnik I gotta think UTO over Wobbler would be seen as an upset. |
e210013
09.12.21 | I'm not so sure. But, probably you are right. The prog community is very diversified in terms of taste. And that is a good thing for sure and one of the main reasons I love so much prog. |
Inoculaeted
09.12.21 | Totally agree. I’d guess Wobbler is the bigger band but I could be wrong. It’s always hard to gauge that kind of thing nowadays unless you go to a lot of their shows and see what sort of venues they fill out. |
Friday13th
09.13.21 | okay y’all, even after Saturday, we still have a tie on our hands with T2 and landberk. We’ll have to have a creative final. |
e210013
09.13.21 | I just changed my rating of "It'll All Work Out In Boomland" from 4.0 to a 4.5. The album is really very impressive and amazing. Now I can see the reason why so much votes on it. However, I'm not going to change my final decision. It still keeps with "One Man Tells Another". Anyway, I felt that I need to say this. This is really a true amazing and unique album iof the 70's. So, if it hand down to the final, I have nothing to complain. I'm completelly enthralled with the album. |

09.13.21 | No one has seen MeatSalad in years, or I'd suggest he and Jethro settle it with - water balloon fight! |

I really didn't know that you played baseball in the good old days, my friend. You never ceased to surprise me. Another lol. |

09.13.21 | I was a stable sportsman. I also played soccer and hockey. For baseball, as a pitcher, I had a good reputation on my ball effects. |
e210013
09.13.21 | I didn't know that. That's a nice surprise. I never was a real sportsman as you was. Lol.
By the way. How is everything with your health my friend? I hope everything is ok, inside the possibilities. |
