12.18.08 | Here's a quick run through of bands that I think sum up my musical taste. I like heavier stuff, but not extreme or constant screaming. For the most part, I have the full discography for the first 17 bands. I became depressed yesterday when I couldn't find anything new to listen to. I trust you, the Sputnik community, to remedy the situation. |

12.18.08 | Try:
Thought Industry - Shortwave on a Cold Day
Fair to Midland: Fables from the Mayfly |
Athom
12.18.08 | you'd probably dig Thrice's Artist in the Ambulance of Vheissu over Illusion of Safety. |
Captain North
12.18.08 | How can you call Nevermind perfect and then say Opeth and Thrice are average. O.o I can understand not liking them, but AVERAGE?
Anyway, listen to the rest of Deftones albums, particularly Saturday Night Wrist. Pearl Jame - Ten. |
Willie
12.18.08 | Sorry to double post, but if you like Opeth then try:
Ikuinen Kaamos - Closure

12.18.08 | wow that was quick... already have pearl jam, alice in chains, soundgarden (i have early 90s pretty well covered). incidentally i have thrice's artist in the ambulance (just the song, not the album) and enjoy it, so maybe i'll check the rest of that out. a quick intro to thought industry will lead to more investigation. thanks guys. |

12.18.08 | If you haven't already, try
Faith No More - Angel Dust
Slayer - Reign In Blood
Stone Temple Pilots - Core
Melvins - Houdini
Megadeth - Rust In Peace
Mudhoney - Superfuzz Bigmuff Plus Early Singles |
Mendigo
12.18.08 | you're right about the Muse-radiohead thing, and I'm glad Radiohead didn't become what Muse are now.
if you really love Nevermind that much, try some more grunge like:
Pearl Jam - Ten
Temple of the Dog - Temple of the Dog
Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger
and for any Tool fan I'd recommend:
Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Planet
Riverside - Second Life Syndrome
Isis - Panopticon
Pelican - Australasia
dredg - El Cielo
Oceansize - Effloresce |
Mendigo
12.18.08 | oh, forget the grunge recs, just saw your comment above ;)
but try out the Tool stuff, I guess you'll enjoy it. |
BigJamie
12.18.08 | Try Still Life before calling Opeth average. Plus, Nevermind is far from perfect imo. I've always prefered In Utero a lot more. |
PayneTiger777
12.18.08 | Fucking awesome list man. Hurt is one of my favorite bands of all time. 1,2,3,6,9,15,16, and 19 are amazing albums. |
Mendigo
12.18.08 | ^surely helped him a lot ;) |
spoon_of_grimbo
12.18.08 | "in the absence of truth" by isis is very tool-like, and is easily their best album (fuck all the panopticon/oceanic-lovers!!! (not that those aren't still great albums...)). |
SCREAM!
12.18.08 | Try Ghost Reveries by Opeth. I got into that album easily but jsut like you i had a hard time with BwP. |
HailToTheThief
12.18.08 | somebody mentioned the melvins so I can't help but recommend boris as well. Pink, rainbow and Akuma No uta are some of theirs.
pelican, earth, clouds, and torch are all great bands as well. actually, anything off southern lord records is worth looking into. |
FistfulOfSteel
12.18.08 | at the drive in
anyone know if the new ikuinen kaamos is available anywhere? or just through the links in the review? |
johnsojm15
12.19.08 | i tried riverside... instrumentation was good but the vocals weren't doing it for me. porcupine tree was good and has found a home in my itunes. i got isis - in the absence of truth and have already started downloading more. all of your suggestions definitely helped me kill time today, which was desperately needed. |
Willie
12.19.08 | Did you end up checking out that Thought Industry album? |
